The tacos are at the right price. I'd go back for $2.50 a toaco but there not much better than that. Excited to have it close to home but I'll probably go out of my way to my favorite taco haunts most of the time. They have a nice backyard but beware they don't let dogs in. read more

This is a great addition to the neighborhood. The taco truck out the back offers an amazing range of delicious tacos, that are priced between $2.50 and $4 , they also have a large variety of sauces and condiments ( pickled onions etc) to load on top. We loved the smoked beef taco the most , but they were all really good ! We also had frozen margaritas which were more like a daiquiri but still yummy. They were $8. Thanks Michael Cera! I love this damn bar. Why are the tacos so good?! Their drinks are decently priced and I like the fact that they have an outdoor seating area. Except this one time I got hit in the head with a french fry there, and they definitely do not serve fries. Besides that weird moment, no problems at all! When I lived in Brooklyn I frequented Chilo's all the time (and I still think about it when I want a strong marg and some solid tacos). Now I live in Queens and while I've found some great taco spots they just aren't the same! It's a great date spot close to other bars and a few dance clubs but it isn't just for the weekend - get your mid-week drink on too! read more

Went here early on a Friday night. We ordered tacos and they were really tasty and I thought they were pretty well priced. Went to the bar and got some beers (they had a very good selection!) Ate in the back by the truck and it was a very pleasant vibe. They put up a tent over the patio area for the winter and I am glad they did becasue I would absolutely go again during the winter or summer. read more

After reading all the reviews, I decided to check this place out. I ordered 4 shrimp tacos, 2 fish tacos and a carnita taco to go. When my order was ready, I received 2 containers. I get in my car and thankfully check to see how they fit all of them in a small and large container... they didn't. One container had my fish tacos and the small had the carnita. I go back and inform the guy that I was missing my shrimp tacos. He responds with an attitude that he gave me 4 shrimp tacos. The other guy in the truck looks back, grabs a container, and hands it to me.. my shrimp tacos. Do I get an apology from the guy with the attitude? Nope. Will I go out of my way to eat from here again? Nope. Shame because the shrimp tacos were actually pretty tasty. read more

I had my birthday party here last July, hung out in the backyard for about three hours on a hot Saturday afternoon in July. There was some fierce competition to get a table but as soon as we claimed one we had a great time. The tacos are yummy and so is the Painkiller -- but it's a little pricey. You guys, this place is so great. You don't even know. Their michelada's, thank god for their michelada's. When I ordered one, the bartender said "just a heads up, we use clamato" thinking that I would be deterred by the ingredient. Instead, I PRAISED her for telling me this, because no other bar has the guts to make a proper michelada these days, WITH CLAMATO. It is absolutely delicious, especially with the salt/chili rim. The taco truck out back is also very, very tasty. I got the smoked beef and the nopales (cactus) - both so so good. It's very laid back too, which I like on my days off. If you haven't been here already, what are you waiting for!! Also - definitely ask for the pico-back, if tequila shots are your thing. It's opened up a whole new world for me. read more

Been going to Chilo's for over a year now. Have loved their food and specially the sauces. Since the past couple of times, their food portions have become drastically small. The tostadas would be almost the size of the take away container with a heap of avocado and lettuce. I got some today and was surprised to see the size of the tostada and the toppings reduced to half. Which is kind of a bummer. I would rather they bumped up their price slightly and give me a full heaped tostada. read more

Everything other than the bartender was cool... smudge, rude, entitled, the runner that thinks he's the boss; just to list a few of his unprofessional, lack of customer service character traits. This is one of my favorite places to go for a frozen marg. It use to also be my place for tacos as well but about a year ago they changed their carnitas and now they are grissely and fatty. Their cactus taco is still great and their chicken taco is mediocre. That being said, with or without good tacos this place is amazing. It's owned by Micheal Serra (surprisingly) and the manager, skip, is a totally sweet heart. It's great for parties and the patio is still warm and dry on rainy days. read more

My most recent experience here was a 2 star guy, but in general they've been 4 or 5. A shame since I built up the anticipation for my bud. The fish taco had probably less than 1oz of fish...no, certainly less. I had a terrible experience here. I went here for drinks with my family and from the time we arrived the bartenders acted as if we were a bother to them. Although they gave us the impression they would rather us to leave, we chose to stick it out and not let them spoil our night. So we ordered drinks in which I was charged $10 and I gave a $2 tip for mine. About 20 minutes later I ordered the same drink but this time they charged me $12. So I asked why am I being charged $2 more for the same drink and his response was that his partner made a mistake on the price. At that point I asked, since you've already poured the drink shouldn't you honor the same price as my first one? But In a very micro aggressive tone he replied, "no it's $12 and if you don't want the drink it's ok" and then he proceeded to take the drink and threw it away. What's interesting is that although we felt we were being discriminated against we really tried hard not to feed into it. Also, as an Airbnb host I've recommended this place to many of my clients. NEVER AGAIN will I patronize this place nor will I ever recommend it to anyone. read more

I saw a server refill the frozen margarita machine with unfrozen margarita mix, which is fine because sometimes things run out. I wanted to order two frozen margaritas and I asked the server if they would be frozen. He said yes and then proceeded to pour me two unfrozen margaritas from the machine. I received my credit card bill for $20 for two unfrozen margarita syrups. Scammed out of twenty dollars for unfrozen margarita mix. At least pretend you care. read more

These guys make the best shrimp tacos! Also every taco I've had there is good. They have happy hour where you can get three discounted tacos and a free beer. You help youself to extra sauce (good selection), pickled red onions, jalapenos, lime and more. Very laid back, great service and consistently good food! read more

This place has excellent Mexican food made in a little truck in a lot next to the attached bar. In the winter, it's all covered over and heated around the truck. In the summer, it's open. But anytime of year, it's hipster central. I feel like I'm trapped in an awful episode of Girls each time I come here, which is part of the amusement, I suppose. It does make me feel ancient though. I'm generally a good ten to twenty years older than anyone there. I live close by, and the Mexican food is too good to pass up, so I battle the throng of hipsters and enjoy the people watching over cocktails. The tacos are killer. The chorizo torta is incredible, and what I order most of the time. Bring friends and order tons of stuff and share. The bar makes great and potent margaritas. I've tried both frozen and on the rocks and I can't decide what I like more. My one complaint is that the bar and the taco stand, while the same business, operate separately. It would make sense if I could order a margarita and place my food order all at once. It's two separate lines otherwise and it's pretty annoying when it's busy. read more

It's down the block from us, so we might be a little biased, but this is our favorite bar in the neighborhood by miles. This place has delicious food (try the huitlacoche taco! Trust!), a solid beer selection, delightful bartenders, and a great ambiance inside and out. Chilo's is my favorite place that serves tacos in all of Manhattan and Brooklyn, and I eat tacos a lot! The duck taco and shrimp are my favorites. Chip, King of the truck, is also the best! The atmosphere outside is really nice, and it's enclosed during the winter (or you can eat inside) though I prefer the outside, even during the winter. Cannot highly recommend enough! Chilo's tacos are bomb, and I am a discerning taco eater. The huitlacoche (a corn fungus similar to mushrooms, considered to be a delicacy in Mexico) taco is delicious, the fried fish taco is also fantastic. I don't actually love the indoor bar at Chilo's but the outdoor patio and taco truck totally make up for it. read more

Quick review nice atmosphere gold star for the cold water but dang the size of a taco is smaller than the palm of my hand. It's like a baby hand a toddler's hand OMG and for $4 or 4:50 or $5 wow. Guess I'm sticking to the taco in Clinton Hills and trucks in the city more for your money period and taste just as good if not better. read more
