Winter is Coming! Very pleased with Chim Chimney sweeps. We have a fireplace insert and a stainless steel corrugated chimney liner. We burn 1-1/2 - 2 cords of hardwood each winter. Only oak and maple, so we don't get a lot of build-up. But the liner and insert need a good cleaning every few years. We are repeat customers. This time we got Tom D, he was great. He arrived right on time - nobody likes to be sitting around waiting for a service call. He was neat, personable, and knew what he was doing. He answered my questions about my stove and flue and worked swiftly and efficiently the whole time. We've been using this company for eight years and their prices have only gone up very slightly in all that time. Very reasonable and thorough. I highly recommend Chim Chimney Sweeps. Honest, knowledgeable, competent, helpful, pleasant to work with, and price competitive. We engaged Chim Chimney Sweepers to assess and clean a fireplace flue, and diagnose a minor water problem with the chimney. We are pleased with the results. We will engage them again in Spring to perform the necessary masonry work on our chimney Last January we had retained another company to perform the same work. Instead of performing the actual work, that other company performed only an "inspection" for a fee of $250 and then left. While on site, they told us there was a very serious creosote build up in the fireplace flue, and warned us against using the fireplace until that creosote issue had been resolved. Later that day that other company emailed us a jaw-dropping estimate for the fireplace flue cleaning and masonry work. Needless to say, we declined their offer. Lesson: When it doubt, it pays to get a second opinion. read more

This is our second time using ChimChimney (for 2 different houses), specifically Bill, and we are really pleased with all that he has done. He is so knowledgeable about chimneys and water damage and construction. He plans out the job the day before and, despite 100 degree heat, Bill was able to fix some serious damage to our chimney and flashing. They don't even deserve 1 star, i would give 0 if i could. We used them once in '07..... and would NEVER use them again, not if they were the last place on earth. They continue to harass us with calls nearly every week. I have asked them on over a dozen occasions to stop calling a delete us from their customer bank, but still they call, and always from different telephone numbers so you don't know it's them. unless you want to be harassed for YEARS do not use Chim Chimney Sweep. read more

While we have not used this company for service they are on my DO NOT USE list for this reason. One of their drivers is a complete idiot!!!! Raced out of a CVS parking lot in Charlton to pull behind me blaring his horn and yelling out the window at me to turn right on red. After calling nearly every other chimney sweep company in yellow pages they were one of the very few who actually answered their phone, had an availability and was priced within a reason. The lady on the phone was pleasant and easy to set an appointment with. The service guy-Tom arrived on time, was very polite and knowledgable. We've been using them for years. A few years ago we thought we had a chimney fire going. (It was simply a piece of paper smoldering on the lip of the flue.) We called the fire department to be safe. The firefighters shined lights up the chimney and inspected with their tools. They said it was one of the cleanest chimneys they'd ever seen. And we use our fireplace a lot, burning about 1 cord of wood a year. This last year they noted the chimney had cracks. The guy used his smart phone to photo the cracks then show me. He regrouted a few rows, and did a polymer sealer. He removed the chimney cap to do it, and must not have replaced it properly. It blew off in gusty weather a few months later. One call and they were out there 36 hours later replacing it. Yes, they do seem to call every 6 months for an annual cleaning, which is a bit much, but I quickly and politely say, "no, just did it", or "no, not in the budget right now", and they politely hang up. My technician today was a gentleman named Bill and he could not have been more professional, kind, courteous and thorough. I need more work on my chimney (it's very old) and Bill took extra time to patiently explain to me what needed to be done, why it needed to be done, roughly what it would cost, and even took time to explain to me how I could do it myself if I so choose. They charged my mom $150 to sweep the chimney. This simple procedure takes about 15 minutes to sweep and 15 minutes to discard debris. My husband usually charges $25. They told my mom that she needed a new $2500 stainless steal liner, because the old liner was falling apart. My husband inspected the liner and it was in perfect condition. I would not trust this company. read more

Do not use the company! Every year they call me and try to get me to have my chimney cleaned. Once they get your name they will call you every year and try to sell you on more services. I used them 2 years ago to install a top damper on my chimney. This year I went to open it and it was stuck. I called to ask them to fix it and they were going to charge me to come out, to fix the damper they installed only 2 years ago. I talked to the owner and she accused me of breaking it. She has no idea of what I did or did not do, but she told me that it was my fault that the damper was stuck. She was rude on the phone and told me she would call her lawyer if I contacted the better business bureau. I am disappointed in their lack of customer service. I think if they install something they should stand behind it. If there are problems with the product they install they should switch to a better product. This place is a joke, when I called them asking for them to take my house AND cell phone number off there list , the lady who "runs" the Framingham office.. was rude and nasty to me. when they call I tell them not to call again and take me off the list they hang up on me and call about 2 days later. I used them once and about 6 weeks later had someone else come and clean it. (they told me it looked like it had not even been cleaned. they couldn't even clean it right! come on now PATHETIC. Don't waste your time calling this place. I have now had two appointments scheduled for an inspection and cleaning and was going to have them install a cap on my chimney. The first appointment was cancelled by Chim Chimney because their "technician" decided to go to Florida without telling them ahead of time. After their apologies, a new appointment was made for 3:30 p.m. a few weeks later. I left work early to meet the technician an arrived home to wait. By 4:00 p.m. when he still had not shown up or called, I called Zoey (who is extremely nice). She explained that it is so hard to find good help and the technician that was supposed to be at my house was not answering his phone and she was sorry but had no idea what to say. Their employee apparently works when he feels like it and other times just fails to show up. Before agreeing to reschedule again, I asked for the owner, Jack, to call me to discuss the two no-shows. He never called. Totally unprofessional. What a terrible business!!! Seriously, don't waste your time calling these jerks. By the way, this is the first review that I have ever posted.
