These guys are great! They fixed my flue so that I can open and close it easily. They are honest too. They said we don't need chimney cleaning so often because we don't make fires too much. Also, they said that the chimney for the heating system doesn't need to be cleaned because gas is clean. This is so different from the chimney cleaners we have had in the past. Have to give them extra props for patience--they were doing an inspection for us for a house we're in the process of buying and we got locked out by the owners and these guys waited a good 20 mins past the appt time for the owners to come back and let us in. The Downeast father/son team of Louis and Ross came to evaluate my chimney and to do a sweeping of my chimney and flue. The two of them were on time, knowledgeable, thorough and meticulous. They left the hearth and floor cleaner than they found them. They explained everything they were doing and what they found in their inspection; they used both a camera and a light to look up the chimney from the hearth, into the boiler flue, and down the chimney from the roof. While Louis was inspecting the chimney from the roof, I was cleaning the gutters. When he finished, he came to help me, unasked. Both father and son were very well informed about the construction of chimneys and what passes inspection if you are selling your house, as we are. They know what needs to be repaired and what is grandfathered. The City of Newton Inspectional Services verified everything they told us. They were right on the money.
