So much food for so little price. If you maximize everything available, you could save some moolah and get more food. Chimi's gives you a free dessert with each Yelp check-in. To get it you have to be persistent with your server, asking her to speak to the manager. I had to show the manager who said she has never seen it. Nevertheless, I was able to get a free dessert in the end. When I walked in, there was no one in the front so I just found myself a table. Server came by after a few minutes. They gave me 2 chips and 4 salsa. I was really confused and for a moment thought I was special. As it turned out, they thought I had 4 people. After I told them that I was by myself, they took 1 chip and 3 salsa away. I no longer felt special. For the entree I had the chicken enchilada with rice and refried beans for a mere $9.99. My inexperience of Mexican cuisine caused a poor lapse of judgement. I wanted quesadilla but got enchilada and quesadilla mixed up. The food at Chimi's was good. I really couldn't tell the difference between the food here versus other places. Food tasted the same to me. Chimi's offers 6% cash back through Upside. My Chase credit card happens to offer 7% cash back on restaurants this quarter. I ended saving 13% on a $10.84 tab. In addition, a free dessert on top. No matter how much I disliked the service at Chimi's, I can't help but to recommend. With so many benefits, it is crazy for me not to recommend. If people were to ask me why they should go to Chimi's, I would simply answer that question with one word, VALUE.

Normally our take out order is great. But tonight my wife ordered the bowl of tortilla soup. Portion was more in line with a cup and the contents of the soup sparse chicken etc. Very disappointing.

They were not busy when I got there and it was a sign. The service was very slow and the food took 30 min for 6 people. They barley refilled the drinks. My food was good but nothing special. My colleagues had hit or miss with the food. They charge $1.50 for cheese sauce. This is more than any other place in town. With the amount of Mexican food in town I'm not sure how they stay in business.

This is the first time I have eaten here. This small restaurant is about a 1/3 of a mile south of 51st and Harvard. This sits alone in the middle of the block away from all other restaurants. Evan with that they still have a loyal following with the regular visitors. I love the smaller "mom and pop" restaurants as the service is usually better along with the food and this case was no different. We got the large white queso, which was enormous, and very tasty. I ordered the fajita chicken Chimichanga and was not disapointed. This place is great and will be back here for a simple tex-mex meal.

Food was pretty good and service was good. Was not busy at all for a Saturday at dinner time. Overall an average Mexican place nothing wrong with it but nothing too special.

2 "Border" Enchiladas with House rice and black beans

One star off since they only had one person waiting tables and while it wasn't super busy there should have been at least two people taking care of the front of the house. There was a bit of a wait to get seated, but again it's because they only had one guy out front handling it all. The food was really good and reasonably priced. My daughter got 2 of the Border enchiladas with house rice and black beans. She cleared her plate and really enjoyed them. I got the Vegetarian Platter with refried beans and Mexican rice. I cleared my plate as well. The food was hot and tasty and a good portion for the price. The inside is a little dark and dingy, by I would eat here again.

They were generous with the birria and the consome is chefs kiss!!! The staff did a wonderful job in assuring our needs were met and that we were satisfied. Really good and would order again. Rice and beans were probably above average. My dining partner asked how the chile relleno was prepared. (He doesn't like the eggy batter.) We were literally told that it came premade and frozen and was "just fried." Obviously, he ordered the street tacos instead. We sat at the bar and it took a bit to get waited on but the manager jumped in and gave us water and silverware. I liked my Blackberry-Rosemary Marg but I honestly didn't feel like it had much tequila in it. The regular marg was just OK. Since it is a tequila bar and we sat at the bar, I would have liked to have discussed tequilas but my bad for not asking. Would have loved to have done a tasting. The menu was informative. I would go back when in south Tulsa. Not sure I would make it a destination. (Well, maybe. Those enchiladas were good! It is a cute place.

Even though the website suggests…read morereservations, we called to check if they accepted walk-ins, which they did so that's good to know that both options are available. As what was stated over the phone, the moment we walked in, we were seated. The place is very intimate in space, I'd recommend for dates. I went with the Enchiladas, something I've been craving for a couple of months & La Tertulia helped that fix. There were a few meats to choose from & I went with chorizo. The wait on the food wasn't long (people were starting to fill in as well & it didn't stop the servers from being on point) & the food was really good. Coming in with 3 enchiladas, stuffed with the chorizo & the fixins, I was left full after I finished. The spanish rice & pinto beans were good as well, paired good with the enchiladas. The chorizo looked more like breakfast sausage more than the chorizo that's more on the dark brown + reddish tint I'm used too. The enchiladas also come with chiles (I picked green) & plenty of cheese. Side Note: Chips & salsa were also super good, my favorite type of salsa. Kinda like a Taquera/Molcajete style. I was so hungry that the chips & salsa didn't slow me down from running through my main entree.

The menu features many Mexican food favorites. Enchiladas, burritos, tacos and more. They're cooked well and served in large portions by a helpful server. A note - some of the dishes are plain and include a protein charge. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm okay with it if it's explained. I was confused during my visit because my enchiladas listed a $2.50 protein charge, but the protein charge was for each enchilada not the plate, so my three enchilada plate was $7.50 more than it was listed because I asked for chicken. I don't necessarily feel cheated, however I was surprised when the server gave me the bill. $2.50 is one thing. $7.50 is a lot more.

It's well-worn but clean. Staff is quick and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. You'll leave full, but not bloated. I've been a fan of El Rio Verde for many years and always look forward to eating here. It's not a large place and only has perhaps four or five booths and a half-dozen tables, and it fills up fast at lunch. They're known for their "Wet Burrito," but the enchiladas and burritos are also outstanding. The refried beans are fresh and made in-house. The salsa is freshly made too and very good, but not memorable like the food. You'll see people from all walks of life eating here - couples, single moms with children, police officers, business people, blue collar workers, and everyone in-between.
