Tried this place today for the 2nd time and I'm really not impressed.I'd like to give this place a 2 1/2 but since that's not possible, they get a 2. I've been told that they are known for their pizzas but I haven't tried those yet. We entered and even though the place wasn't super packed, we were given a buzzer and told to wait since there were no clean tables. Weird, given that the place was not crowded at all on a Sunday afternoon. Anyway.... The only reason we ended up here today was because of their cajun calamari. It's breaded calamari with Old Bay and other seasonings (I think) served with a Chipotle Ranch sauce (that tastes like chipotle mayo...YUM). The first time I visited, I tried the fish and chips. While I'm usually a fan of fish and chips, this didn't do much for me. After that, we tried the peanut butter pie with chocolate and that was ok. While it was tasty, it definitely tasted like the premade frozen stuff. For today's visit, I decided to try their fish tacos. Sadly disappointed. While I had high hopes for this (due to the yummy cajun calamari), the tacos were flavorless. It came in a very bland soft taco shell with lettuce, cabbage, shredded carrots, chipotle ranch, and tomatoes. After trying to bite into one taco, the whole thing fell apart and I ended up taking the taco shells off and eating the thing as a salad. The fish was bland, and the flavor came from the chipotle ranch and tomatoes. Highly disappointed. No dessert this time. Service was ok. It was hard to flag down a server for drink refills. Don't think I'll be coming back here again. If I do, it'll just be for the calamari and maybe pizza. read more

My second time here and I have to say the food is always excellent. The service though is what disappoints me. The service was a bit better this time but I would still have to say it was not to where it should be. Its a shame because I love the food. They really need to re-evaluate their waiters and waitresses. I really liked how nice the hostess was as I was leaving though. Another Central Jersey restaurant that has withstood the test of time. I've been coming here since the 90's and it's one of the places I always try to get to when I come back to visit NJ. They are famous for their thin crust pizza, however I'm not a thin crust fan so can't say much about the pizza. But if you're a fan of that style Chimney Rock might be worth a visit. That being said, this place has some of the best burgers I've had. The sandwiches are excellent as well. These 2 items are more then enough reason to visit here. Add in an above average beer selection and an old building with nice atmosphere and you have a winner. read more

We went to the Chimney Rock this evening, usually order their thin crust pizza, its one of my favorites, but they started their Octoberfest menu, which included, chicken schitzel, with red cabbage and potato pancakes, It was the best meal I have had out in quite sometime. I have been going there since the mid 60's, its been under new ownership for about 15 yrs or more, the place is run by young staff, who are usually eager to please, I hightly recommend it, on weekends it does get crowded, so there is usually a wait. read more

Great family owned option to standard franchise fair served by fun staffers dressed in overalls. The well-worn interior is comfy & kid friendly. Moms & dads have plenty of house wines & beers on tap to chose. The thin crust pizzas are tasty & the burgers stack up well compared to anything else available in Central NJ (do, however, avoid the turkey burgers - they stack two thin patties that seem like they came right out of the freezer in lieu of fresh, juicy beef). The place definitely is oversubscribed, so be prepared to go off-peak or wait in cramped quarters. Steakhouse Burger was delicious, pizza was very good....french fries were awesome....and the wings were good (a little on the small side). The peanut butter pie was also very, very good! What a place. Hidden gem. Was looking for a place for late dinner after a round of bowling at near by AMF. Found this place via Yelp as the closest and the open one. Boy, never expected this place to be so great. Thin crust grilled veggie pizza was just awesome and so does the other two pastas. Quantity of pasta per person was also very good. I have seen places serving less for more price. 35 bucks for 3 dishes.. too good. I will go here again if happen to be at the same place. read more

I was here 20 years ago with my kids and didn't get it then and still don't get it. Tried the french onion soup which was really really salty. The chicken pot pie looked good on the outside but try to find the chicken. Mostly liquid and few vegetables. The waitress was very nice. I loved our family's casual visit here. It's great for all ages, even high-chair age. We got everything to drink from soda to margarita, to beer to coffee. Everyone can eat whatever American style you want. We had pasta, pizzas, a burger, and two salmon dishes. I had a great IPA on tap. The rock fries are to die for, and the calamari was good too. The salmon was really great and the angel hair pasta it comes with is garlicky with tomatoes and whole spinach leaves...delicious!! I wa stuffed but I wanted to eat more of everything. I held my daughter's birthday dinner here in January 2019 (the Bridgewater location). Dawn was super helpful and responsive while planning the event. Upon our arrival that evening, the manager and table hostess came over and introduced themselves. Service throughout the event was excellent, as was the food. Aside from an elegant ambiance, this place is rocking with great drinks, food and desserts for American, Italian and Mexican tastes. Pizza (esp. Mexican) is excellent as are the fries. Been coming here since I was a kid and the place is always great. Friendly staff, good prices and great pizza. Can get busy as it is a popular spot, especially Thursday-Sat. However, you can call ahead and put your name on the list, to shorten you're wait time when you arrive. Sitting at the bar is always the best option though. I've never gone to chimney rock inn and didnt have to wait at least an hour to eat. Everyone raves about this place and I wont lie the food is okay to decent. The hype about this place is like nothing ive ever seen and I havent figured out why yet. Its a great spot for parties and familt get togethers but its so crowded and noisey. Some of the food items are less often seen so that could by why people flock here. The bar situation is weird and almost feels out of place. I have no hard feeling about this place just no infatuation with it either. The main hype item is their pizza which is okay I guess. read more

Very good food and very friendly staff. The service is good, but a little slow. The only thing preventing a 5-star rating is the coordination of the staff. We were told as a party of six that our wait would be about five minutes, but it turned into 30 minutes. The serving of the soups and salads was also off, the salads being served 10 minutes before the soups, which ultimately arrived about the same time as the appetizers. I have been a local to this restaurant for years and never tried the burgers. Recently I switched to mainly veggie style burger. I ordered a black bean burger. It was cooked very well for a black bean burger. It was not dry or over cooked. The beans and vegetables tasted rich with a fresh bun. Cajun fries were also provided. My friend got a beef burger and buffalo shrimp appetizer. I was provided feedback the food was well prepared. Beer selection for draft IPA is diverse. Very spacious, nice place! Staff is VERY friendly. Good if you have a pretty big family, or want to hold a party, as there is more than one dining area, which makes it convenient.
