Worst restaurant that I have EVER been to. I had to eat there as I was on the road n- big mistake. The place is a dump. They wasted a lot of to-go packaging - plenty of styrofoam. No rest rooms. I asked for a plastic knife. Nope! A cup of water? Nope! The rofu tased like rubber. I left my trash on the table, and as I was leaving the lady said: "Sir, the trash can is over there." Back story, when I lived in Hoboken, the Asian places all started tasting identical and I figured they all have the same distributor. Then Chendu1 opened in Jersey City and both their American-Chinese menu and their traditional Szechuan menu were compatible to Flushing. I never ordered from the other places after they opened. Now that I'm in Raritan, Great Wall Kitchen is that place.

We ordered many of our favorites to compare with our other go to places. First off, the pork fried rice had a very strange and unlikable flavor, almost like rancid oil. Didn't eat it, threw it out. The shrimp with lobster sauce was runny. The chicken on a stick was not teriyaki like most other places, it was just fried chicken pieces on a stick. Chicken and broccoli was good, shrimp toast was ok. Pork with mushrooms could use less bok choi and more pork. Shrimp egg foo young was okay but the sauce was thin and somewhat odd, different flavor. Not bad but different, coud've used more sauce. Spareribs were good but not very meaty. The boneless spareribs were not at all like the barbequed spareribs. More like pieces of pork loin in some kind of sauce. Very mild flavor. Lastly the steamed pork dumplings were more dough than filling. The filling was tasty but the dough was thick and dense and chewy. More like a bad pierogi than a chinese dumpling. Most dumplings I've had have a thinner and lighter wrapper. In addition, there was no dipping sauce served with the dumplings. The most disappointing item was the fried rice. It was just inedible. We were guessing that the yellow coloring was turmeric. I am not familiar with the taste of turmeric, so I canot say if this assumption is correct. What I can say is that this is probably the worst fried rice I've every had. Both the pork fried rice and the plain fried rice had the same distatsteful flavor. Almost like rancid oil. Doubt we will go back. We order chineses several times a month from 3 or 4 different places so we are familiar with flavor differences from different chefs.
