5 stars for ease of scheduling and for the sweep. Would add another star if yelp allows it for keeping the prices reasonable and teaching us how to maintain our fireplace. We have an over 100 year old fireplace that needed cleaning especially after the fire and ash we've had around the area. Bill came out the next day after scheduling with him on the phone with his assistant and helped us cleaned our old fireplace. Bill was exactly who we needed to help with our chimney. We had to get our chimney cleaned and also install new rain caps. He was very easy to work with and came over early to do the cleaning and explained how to take care of our chimney and things to look out for in the future. He had to do a second trip to install the rain caps as they were special order but that second trip was a breeze just like the first. I would highly recommend Bill! He was punctual, respectful, and followed COVID protocol. Our chimney hadn't been cleaned in years, and last winter the fires wouldn't stay lit. He cleaned it thoroughly, raised the fireplace grate up on some bricks we had outside for better ventilation for the fires, and installed a rain cap on the chimney. He also showed me that the damper was stuck in the open position, which will probably save me money on my heating bill this winter! After he finished, he explained in great detail everything I need to know to light a fire and keep it going. He also looked at the wood I have outside to make sure I had the right kind (split, dry wood). All in all, I am very pleased, as I now know my fireplace is clean and safe. Bill is the real deal. I called him because there was an animal stuck in my chimney. He arrived on time the next morning, gently removed the dove that was stuck, inspected and swept the chimney, and installed a rain cap and spark arrestor to make sure no animals would get stuck in there again. I could not be happier with Bill. Our home inspection pointed out some issues with the chimneys when we first purchased the home. We didn't use either fireplace for more than three years as I was too overwhelmed to pick someone to come out and address what we thought was thousands of dollars of damage. All the Yelp reviews I read about Bill were correct! Clean, friendly, informative & honest. I hired Bill to verify a "crack" my home inspector warned me about. Bill arrived on time and swept the chimney. Once he was all done (leaving the area cleaner than when he arrived) Bill sealed the crack. He stated it would must likely have been an issue but aired on the side of caution. When Bill was done, he explained proper heating techniques as to not get the black smoke on the outside of the hearth. BILL ROCKS!! He came by a couple weeks ago to install a critter cap on the chimney and give it a good clean out. Refreshed our memory on operating the old-school gas switch and got everything working in tip top shape! Gave us a super price for the project and, as before, was so very pleasant to interact with. He and his assistant (who was also quite friendly) were very mindful of not letting my cats out while they were working, which I very much appreciate, what with living near the forest where lots of much larger beasties roam about from time to time. We decided yesterday that we should have our two fireplaces cleaned in our newly purchased home before using them. I requested a number of quotes from chimney sweep companies.
