Unfortunately, I did NOT have a good experience with this company. I had an appointment scheduled for 11/29 between 10 and 2. The tech called me early and stated he was on his way. However, I don't know if he OR anyone ever showed as I NEVER received an estimate. I called the office, they said that they'd have the tech call me. He did, I called him back and NOTHING. I normally do not leave bad reviews because I am in customer service myself and I am a super kind and upbeat kind of person. However, I called ChimneyTek to do a cleaning and an inspection on my chimney... they quoted me $449. I said ok as I know chimney inspections and cleanings can range around that price, even though that was on the higher end. They came to my house did not clean my chimney what-so-ever...looked on the inside, climbed to the top and took a photo of the top and that was it. They then quoted me 12,500!!!! Said I needed to replace my WHOLE CHIMNEY and that I would need to replace my fence also because it was in the way of replacing the Chimney. I just called another Chimney place and they quoted me $99 to clean and inspect and was very professional on the phone. As other reviewers have stated..... if you want to burn your money and waste it...call this company they will most definitely let you down. I cannot stress this enough.... Please save your money and do not call this company! I'm pretty sure they pay to get good reviews. All of the 1 star reviews are the reviews you should be listening to! If you're reading this review, I'd say you already did well as you found this company. We have a twenty year old big waterfront house with a stone chimney that was allowing water to leak into the upper rooms. We got three estimates and went with Chimney Tek. Though not the cheapest, they were the most comprehensive and responsive. From top to bottom this company takes pride in what they do and are very experienced and capable. Purchasing my current home and inquired about getting the chimney inspected and possibly cleaned. Home was 60 years old and oil furnance in use. Prior owners never had chimney cleaned or inspected. Met with Vince and upon inspection of chimney and the thimble connection access that was blocked off by cinder block wall recommend a demo of the wall and a stainless steel liner, and was given a quote. Got a couple more quotes in the spring and went with ChimneyTEK because of the inspection QUALITY and pricing of the quote. The demo work needed on the thimble connection threw off all quotes and given estimates from others that were pricey (sub out demo work) or poorly estimated (unnecessary add ins not needed). I called Vince SEVERAL times to discuss and go over the quote/work (not familiar with work involved and wanted to understand the what and why) each time Vince answered my questions and definitely had a better handle on the job (no subs) had experience on my thimble issue. Crew did a GREAT job, the demo work went better than I imagined. The stainless steel liner was really needed based upon seeing how blocked the thimble was 60-65% and all the soot removed from the chimney prior to installing the liner. This job was a learning experience for me and the job went a lot smoother than I anticipated (did not know what to expect). Proof of insurance also provided before job started. GREAT JOB! Stay away! They are a scam and a company built on being predators of unwilling people. Last winter we asked for an assessment of our chimney. They told us we'd need a rebuild and that it would cost about 12k (based on then just doing one the week before if larger size for 15k. They based this on an apparent pulling away of our chimney from the house. The quote they sent actually ended up having another woman's name On it and address in parts. A clear form letter they must send to all of their potential victims. We had two other evaluations and both had over 25years in industry and both had only come Across total rebuild Scenarios tw or three times during that time. They have struck again this week, after a neighbor of mine called them, without him Being home they supposedly sent someone out to 'inspect' and then sent him an 18k appraisal for a total rebuild. They are a terrible company and I cannot WARN YOU ENOUGH. -10 stay away. In terms of taking umbrage, I know of three other homes in my neighborhood that were also recommended for complete rebuilds. On top of that when first inspected by chimneytek, was told would be around $10-11k based on one they had just completed on a three story home (16k). My quote came back around 16k too for tw story home. Additionally my chimney was not pulling away from home, civil engineer inspected...was added after siding put on side of house so traditional '"look" of wrapping into siding is not same. Looks like pulling away but In fact siding is pulled away from chimney to accommodate it being added, not other way around. All business is in business to "be in business for years to come"... that's how you pay your bills. read more

My mother used Chimney Tek, paid almost $4000 and the work was not done correctly. They went to my mom's house 5 times and the problem was not fixed until she called another company, who was not surprised by ChimneyTek's shabby work. When my mom called and asked for some of her money back, they were very rude and told her that they've had to go to her house more than anyone else's. Of course, if the work had been done correctly the first time, this would not have been the case. So sad that they do shoddy work and treat older people so terribly. read more

They put a DoNotBurn order on chimney. We didn't burn any wood all winter. Got a second opinion in the spring, they said there's no problem burning wood in the stove. Cost $2400 in oil. Wood would have been free. read more

I had to have a stove removed from my shed because our insurance co said it had to be removed to keep our home insurance. This was time sensitive as the Ins. needed pictures before 4/24/20. I contacted Chimney Tek on 4/12, they were here on 4/13, inspected the stove and filled out forms that I could send the insurance co. On 4/16/20 Chimney Tek came and removed the stove in the shed and capped it off. I now can send pictures to our Insurance Co. Great work, great crew. Refinished fireplace with thin brick and a new mantel and it looks great. The team was punctual, friendly and professional. Although the original estimate was only 2 days, it took 3+, but it didn't faze the team at all as they were focused on quality. The positive reviews here are related to chimney cleaning and inspection. If you plan on having more than that done, please beware. In 2015, an unsatisfactory installation of a Class A stovepipe by ChimneyTek was followed by weeks of unanswered calls/emails to Vince Decrisci. I had the installation inspected by another company, forwarded the inspection results to the Maryland Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation and finally, under pressure from that department, Mr. Decrisci responded, removed the system and refunded my costs. read more

I set up an appointment for a chimney inspection. The lady (Charlie) was very professional & pleasant. Everything was detailed. My appointment was 7/26 between 10-2 but they call before heading to the home. I got a reminder call 7/25. On 7/26, the technician (Jeremy) called around 8ish saying he was done early & if it was ok to head over now. He was very thorough in the explanation, the report we received was detailed & showed photos. Jeremy was also pleasant & professional. I should have been suspicious of any company that charges a $179 fee just to come out and give you a quote. That is a lure to convince you to go with them since the fee is applied toward their service. Well, when they quoted a cost of putting in a pellet stove pipe - and this is not a new install as we replaced our existing pellet stove - that cost more than the pellet stove itself, that says "stay away" to me. My initial search was too precise and now after their ridiculous quote I am finding a LOT of other companies that can do the same thing, and I am guessing for far less. Crazy expensive company and I will never again trust a business that charges a fee like that to come out and high-quote a job. read more

Came for an inspection, which I didn't feel I received very good value on. Paid for an expensive digital scanning, received point-and-shoot camera photos. I was told it's not safe to use, forced to sign something to that effect, and then quoted $3000 to fix it. Fine, you're the pros, but what really bothered me were the services they sold me on while doing the inspection day-of. After they left, I got a competitor quote and found out I was overcharged drastically (80%!). I got back in touch with them and explained the situation and they never got back to me.
