We were having trouble getting our Heat-N-Glow gas log fireplace to work properly, and called Complete Chimneys. (winter 2018) They gave us their availability, and came on time when they said they would. The problem took some diagnosing and a follow-up appointment to make sure that the venting of the chimney was corrected.They also did some insulating and that greatly helped with the down draft of cold air that had been pouring in from the fire-place. Meaghan was very helpful in instructing us in how to use the fireplace, since we had never had gas logs in any of our previous houses. Everyone from Complete Chimneys was completely friendly and professional. The price was fair, reasonable, and close to the original estimate. Complete Chimneys, John Golden, gas tech, performed an examination and repair of my gas fireplace, which had not worked for four years. He was amazing. He was thorough, professional, w great attention to detail, communicative, and went the extra mile to make sure it worked perfectly. He also explained to me how to work it. Received email confirmation as well as an email response to a question asked in the booking process. Day of scheduled appointment, here I am waiting for them to show up. I wanted to do one thing that wasn't possible but he stuck with me to help me to get something that will work for me. In fact, it worked a lot better than what I wanted to do. From what I understand Complete Chimneys is under new ownership. I had them out to provide and estimate on sealing the exterior of my chimney and repairing the cracks in the crown. Matt the manager and his assistant were prompt and provided me with an estimate that was substantially less then other Chimney Services I had inquired about. As our fireplace, chimney, firebox ratio was out of sync, my hubby and i decided to have a new wood stove insert placed as well. Matt was great in helping me navigate the stoves that would work for our home. He added the work to be done outside to the quote as well. With in two weeks of our decision to install the wood stove and have the outside repairs completed, Complete Chimneys were helpful and responsive. They called to confirm appointments, showed up on time, made sure my furniture was not damaged or soiled when installing the wood stove. Unfortunately, it rained in the morning of install so the outside repairs has to be delayed. However, they promptly made a new appointment and one day later they had a Job Well Done! Complete Chimneys LLC, 8174 Richie Highway, Pasadena MD 21122 Review We recently purchased a new Regency Hi 2451 from Complete Chimneys to replace a 30+ year old wood stove. Michael Galvin, the Showroom Sales Manager was very informative and helped us understand the changes that have occurred over the years regarding wood stoves versus inserts as well as the current 2020 regulations that apply to wood burning devices. He worked with Gordon Brandt from Regency Fireplace Products to answer questions we had regarding efficiencies of various units and to find the unit that best met our price range and the appearance we desired. The installation team arrived on schedule. They worked steadily, took precautions to protect the room and furnishings where the insert was installed, and assured we were satisfied with the installation before leaving. We made our purchase this past spring and of course did not use it in worm weather. We've begun using our insert in mid October and the Regency Hi 2451 has performed as we were told it would by Michael Gavin, Showroom Sales Manager and Gordon Brant from Regency Fireplace Products. I used Complete Chimneys to remove a gas insert and replace it. A new metal box around the gas flame, new tubes from the chimney top to the unit, and a front door were all part of the package. The salesman recommended a very good model. The installers showed up when promised, worked efficiently, and cleaned up thoroughly. I paid for a Level 2 Chimney inspection. All they sent me was a document with a couple items check as "apparent problem." Absolutely NO detailed information at all. I called, emailed, texted. The tech climbed up on the roof to check the top of the chimney and give us an estimate on gutter cleaning. He knocked a few leaves out of the ends of the gutters at no charge. There's nothing more obnoxious than when a company gives you a three hour window of an arrival time, and then call 30 minutes after the appointment window, to say they will be there in 45 minutes. I strongly suggest you find someone else to work on your chimney. At this point we are only continuing to work with them because we were told that the flashing work they did was covered under a warranty. When we called back a few weeks later to tell them there was still leaking the guy came out, left a note on the door saying he needed to talk to manager for pricing. That was on July 26. 3 weeks later and we have yet to hear from a manager. I've called several times and the ladies answering the phone continuously give me the run around. He's on vacation, he's in training. I just need a price! When I spoke to management she acted like she didn't even know what was going on. She's sending the same guy out here to inspect AGAIN. I had Complete Chimney's give me an estimate to replace the cap on my boiler chimney. They day before the appointment they left a message that they wouldn't be able to perform the work due to the weather (understandable) and that they were putting my job on their "weather permitting" board and would send someone out "soon". After waiting 2 months (Feb 25 - Apr 23) with no repair and no contact, I assumed that my job had fallen off their radar. No, they knew exactly who I was and promised that they would have someone scheduled to perform the repair "soon". What I expected when I called was an apologetic acknowledgement that my repair had fallen off their radar or something similar. What I got was a snotty version of "!@# happens, do you want us to come out or not?" These people are not deserving of my, and your, money . read more

They were to remove the old tile liner from my chimney and replace it with a round stainless steel liner. First time out, they didn't remove the old tile first, and flattened the sides of the new liner to make it square so it would fit. The owner, Mike P., was great. As soon as he found out about it, he proactively reached out to me, apologized and offered to install a brand new liner. He had a crew back three days later and redid the job. Good experience from the first call! Teresa set up an appointment for a cleaning/inspection that was timely and convenient. We even bonded over our shared time spent in the south. The day of the appointment snow was expected and the company called the day before to say a tentative appointment was set for the next weekend should the weather end up keeping them away. Proactive! On the day of the appointment, Joey and Billy came by to clean and inspect. They were courteous (even thoroughly wiping their feet when I said they didn't need to worry about the flooring) and professional. SCAM SCAM SCAMMERS!!! We moved into a new home in June, so when fall rolled around we had Complete Chimneys come out to clean and inspect our fireplace. They cleaned it and then told me that he would recommend not even using it! That it was not up to code, they would have to extend our chimney 5-6 feet, the top was rusted out and there were cracks that made it unsafe. Their estimate to "fix" everything, $8900! Needless to say I got a second opinion. The gentleman that came out from the 2nd company told us that there wasn't a single thing wrong! Always get a 2nd opinion! Chimney work that was done, poorly, after two visits, three months ago, is already failing miserably. Their mortar repair technique of pushing mortar into gaps doesn't do anything. Quick google search shows this does nothing to repair mortar and bricks. Bricks separated immediately. You can't tell repairs were ever done, except for the wrong color mortar smeared everywhere. read more

I called them and they stated that they wanted to reschedule for one week later, October 28th. They said they would come between 12 and 3. After a 25 minute cleaning and inspection we were informed that our chimney needed interior repair of $800 and exterior repair of $1800. We.requested additional info about the inspection and after 5 months numerous phone calls to the office we still have no resolution.....we were finally informed that the information requested was not available, this seems strange as we were informed last week we would have all info we needed.....We were going to compare the 2 inspections and see if they matched. They were able to come out quickly to give an estimate, and they quoted me a price that was less than half of what another company quoted. I recommend Complete Chimneys to anyone I know who needs chimney work or to just have an inspection done because of community association requirements. I used this company for the first time this week and was very impressed with their courteousness and their professionalism. They arrived early and took pictures of the fireplace both inside and out; the inside pictures showed a hairline fracture that I was not aware of even though I have had the fireplace inspected on a regular basis for years. They explained that this could have just happened or that because this crack would not interfere with normal use of the fireplace the prior company just did not "bother to mention it"; pictures on the outside of the chimney showed a great deal of rust on the cover that would need attention sometime in the near future. (I did not ask why this was never mentioned before). The technician immediately gave me a written quote on replacing the cover, with the estimate showing both the low and high end of the price spectrum. There was no pressure or suggestions made of how they "would handle it" letting me decide how and when to make the repairs. As a retired person, I greatly appreciated that courtesy! The only downside I found with this company was that they did not call ahead but hey, I did not ask that they do so! Keep up the good work, Brandon and Complete Chimneys! I would like to add more to a previous review. Please note, this is related to the same service events described by tim g. I did not mention that my wife asked the crew about the final gas connection. They said they would leave the insert jutting out of the fireplace until the plumber came to make the final connection. My wife was then told that we ourselves could push the insert into its final place. I did not feel that was appropriate, since we spent thousands of dollars on the insert and installation, only to have to risk scratching our hearth and performing the manual labor of completing the installation. Not to mention the safety concerns if something was damaged or dislodged by use while pushing it in. read more

We are frustrated and angry with the series of events that occurred after we hired them to replace our damaged gas fireplace insert. 1) Initial visit: Tech supposedly made the measurements he needed, and left brochure. He told us to choose insert of our choice, & call back to place the order. He warned us they were busy now, and even said that another company also sells fireplace inserts. I thought this was odd, now realize I should have gone elsewhere. 2) We called tech to place order. He asked same questions over and over again, and so phone call took 45 minutes. Inefficient. I asked what next step would be, he said we'd receive call back in 2 days to confirm install date. After 1 week,no call back. I called and learned order was never placed, technician was unavailable, so they had no record of order. 3) One week had been wasted, and I didn't appreciate not receiving the confirmation call back as promised. I felt it was wrong they didn't have order on file (since it took the technician 45 minutes to place it). I was given various excuses (earthquake, etc.), was promised there would be no more problems. However, this was tip of the iceberg. 4) They could not schedule our installation date for over one month. Notably, we were able to receive a two-week installation time frame from a local competitor. 5) On installation day, the crew unpacked the fireplace insert which was much too small in scale for the space. This was confirmed independently later. When wife questioned crew about small size of insert, she was told that it would look fine once they added faceplate. She viewed crew's response as dismissive of her concern. 6) Crew tried to install chimney liner, which they realized was too short for the chimney. They left for over an hour; it was not made clear to us what they were doing during this time. 7) I called crew to inquire what problem was. I was told that manufacturer sent wrong size liner, since our chimney was too tall. I was skeptical of this, and questioned the crew further. They would not admit they errors in measurements and ordering, instead they continually stated that manufacturer sent the wrong size liner. They stated repeatedly that our chimney was over 35 feet tall; however, an independent installer later determined that our chimney was not that tall. Thus, Complete Chimney made critical errors both in the size of the fireplace insert that was appropriate for our space and in the length of the chimeny liner, as verified by a local competitor. 8) The technician promised that I would receive a call back the next day, by 8AM. I did not receive a call, and had to call myself. I was told that technician was ill, this is why I didn't receive the call. Given the scope of errors, I was upset that someone else in the company did not fulfill the promise to call me. 9) Owner told me that chimney was too tall and we needed to order different, more expensive insert. His suggested insert did not include decorative stones we wanted. I was offered option of ordering this at a $300 discount, or getting a refund. This was insurance claim, the discount would not help me. Owner said I could settle with insurance company for the full amount and then receive the $300 from them. I didn't feel this was right, and had lost confidence in them. 10) I went to competitor, who was able to order original insert in a larger size, at a total cost that was almost $2000 less than Complete Chimney. 11) We posted a shorter review on Yelp, using a hyperbolic word to express our opinion that the company was not reliable, and received a call from company saying this word was a "liable" statement; we presumed they meant libelous or defamatory, and thought, in our opinion, that their notice of a deadline to revise or remove the comment implied an intent to sue. 12) Due to the company's errors, we have wasted lots of valuable time. Their errors delayed our completion of this project by at least 6 weeks (nearly three months total to complete), and we were unable to have our insert by Thanksgiving as hoped. We feel the company should spend its time getting orders right and returning calls, not acting as the Yelp police. We felt that company made a lot of excuses (busy, technician/owner not in, manufacturer error, ill staff). read more

I would not hesitate to hire Complete Chimney again. After receiving my estimate to fix my chimney, I had called for an explanation of the work that needed to be done. There was still some confusion on what work would be done with myself thinking an actual new crown would be put on but the paperwork saying a water proof coating would be put on. They came out and did the work and explained what they had done. In my mind it was not correct, the guy who did the work handled the situation perfectly and said he would call the office and explain it and that I should also. When I called and explained my situation on the phone, the office manager once again handled the situation perfectly. She heard my concerns and said she would research it and get back to me. I received a call the next day and was notified that they were sending someone out as soon as they could to undo what they had previously done and do it the way I thought it was going to be done even though they did exactly what was on the paperwork the first time. The fact they stand behind their work the way that they do makes me a customer for life! Complete Chimneys will be my first and only call for chimney work from now on! read more
