Lived in Suttons bay for the last two winters and always wanted to try this bakery. Finally got a chance to bring some sweet home to my wife on Valentine's Day and must say we were both very disappointed. The cinnamon roll and pecan roll were definitely not made fresh and we're at least not one, but two days old as they were hard to cut through with a sharp knife! The two little cinnamon donuts were just fine and appeared fresh but the two others were nearly 5 dollars each and we're stale as a doorstop. Sorry to leave a Poor Review but it needed done because that is not what anyone would expect from a hometown bakery. read more

We purchased hundreds of rolls and donuts for our wedding and they were AMAZING. All of the donuts were incredible. All of our guests took at least 4 home and couldn't stop telling us how good they were. Many of us reheated them days after the wedding and they were still amazing. We are from out of town and they were helpful over the phone. All the deserts looked amazing and I am still dreaming about those sticky pecan rolls. Thank you SO MUCH! We stopped in after getting our Christmas tree from Kolariks Christmas tree farm just before noon on a Saturday. Rookie parent move, we had promised our 2.5yr old a sprinkled donut however when we arrived the case had been wiped out by the busy morning rush. The sweet lady working overheard us talking and offered to make our son a fresh sprinkled donut. Her kindness and delicious donut made his day! It's about time someone left a more recent review of Chimoski Bakery and my crew is happy to do it. This was one of our standbys for the past few years of visiting Sutton's Bay. We were devastated to learn the owners of Chimoski's former location next to the Sutton's Bay post office opted to retire their lease early and effectively move them out ASAP. As my kids put it 'how could you kick out a bunch of little old ladies?!' But fortunately Chimoski found a new home just north of Sutton's Bay off of M22 and it suits them well. We love Chimoski's lemon-filled donuts, bran muffins, creme-filled long johns and pies. Everything here gives off the essence of being homemade with love and from such a sweet + kind staff of bakers too. We have never had a poor experience in all our years of patroning Chimoski. Bonus is their day-old tray of goodies available for 50 cents apiece. Sure 9 Bean Rows is just down 204 for other options but as much as we love Rows, nothing makes us feel more at home in Sutton's as walking in the front door at Chimoski. read more

The first of several bakeries we hit in an afternoon quest for some good pastries. Alas, also the worst. The cherry turnover didn't have a good filling or a good shell. The pecan bun was a little one-note sticky-sweet, but still decent and worth eating. The cinnamon roll wasn't as good as the pecan bun. Sutton's Bay is kind of a one-bakery town, but if you don't want to drive any further stick to the pecan bun or get something from the case at 9 Bean Rows instead. read more

If you order a special bd cake do not expect it to be done the way you want. Ordered one a year ago and was told by a very helpful lady that they could do exactly what I needed like a fresh strawberry filling with a picture that I brought in to be imposed on cake. Called the morning to pick up because my husband's bd was next day and was told it was ready. Went in and was told they could not do what I had asked. Very disappointed! Had to make other cake arrangements for my husband bd which was the next day! Would never recommend to anyone! Come to MI every year since I am a Michigander. A hidden gem! You have to got around corner from a diner and past a candy store, but worth it. All local and homemade, got the sausage and cheddar buscuit (wish I had gotten two) and some donuts. Gorgeous! The coffe is quite tasty...I don't really like places where it's in a carafe, but it's some really good blend and was not and fresh. They should leave out milk....they aren't a place that should have the plastic containers of creamer. But they will get you milk. Cute, nice, local, tasty. read more

I had a pumpkin muffin from here recently. It was mega-delicious. Fyi, they do not take credit cards. Lucky for me the muffin cost 1.50, which I managed to dig out of my purse. The doughnuts looked delicious, but I refrained. I may indulge another day. They have day old items, but they are sold in bulk. OK, the baked goods are still sub-par. The good news, though, is that the peaches are FANTASTIC! The owners have a fruit farm out on Stony Point and they sell some of their produce in the bakery. With the devastating spring we had in northern Michigan, all the fruit harvests are way down, including peaches. That limited supply translates into much higher prices than in "normal" years, but these peaches are well worth it. Nothing like fresh local fruit picked that morning, bursting with flavor and sweet as candy. Yum!!!! read more

We have been coming here all summer and are long overdue for a review. The cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are fantastic. Our summer guests all beg for them for breakfast and and early morning Chimoski runs happen often. The pies are excellent! I love the cherry pie particularly. I am not a huge pie fan and almost always leave the rim of crust. Not on this one! It is loaded with yummy tart cherries and the crust is excellent. The raised donuts are fresh and tasty. Awesome small town bakery, in my humble opinion, the type that you cannot find in a city. Delicious sweet rolls, donuts, and muffins. The sticky buns, cherry muffins and cinnamon streusel muffins are family favorites and the cherry pie is the perfect fit for dessert, if you can wait.
