I had to stop mid eating my lunch just to write this review. It has a low rating on Yelp and I think if you're anything like me you might have skipped over this place thinking it's bad. I've been pushing myself to try new places and so decided to try this out myself and WOW! This is some of the best Chinese food I have found in Omaha and in general and trust me I have had a lot of bad Chinese in my days. When I think of American Chinese food and how it should taste this is exactly how I picture it. I got the lunch specials which includes the entree of your choice, rice or lo mein with a upcharge and either crab Rangoon or an egg roll. An excellent value for lunch you get lots of food! My go to dishes are cashew chicken and Mongolian beef, I tried both and both were really good! I'm very thankful I have a really good cashew chicken option to choose from because most places never make it the way I like it and this place does! If you notice the negative reviews they were many years old like even up to 9 years and complaining about things like not having delivery drivers, obviously times are changed and I got this order quickly on DoorDash! China 1 is definitely better than the 3.4 stars that is shown on Yelp. The Singapore Style Chow Mei Fun is really good. The Kung Pao Chicken and Szechuan Chicken is also very good. I am not a fan of the Chicken Egg Roll, the House Special Soup or the Crab Rangoon, but I still think China 1 offers a quality product for a fair price. I highly recommend and will return. read more

My sister and I did DoorDash pickup tonight ( a Friday evening) and our food was ready 10 early and when we picked it up and brought it home it was still hot! Everything we got was really tasty. I can be really REAAALLLY iffy and picky when it comes to American Chinese, but this will be my go to place from Now on. Someone recommended the Hunan chicken which was amazing. I got the medium level spicy and the whit meat chicken was tender and juicy. The hot and sour soup was also excellent with chunks of meat and mushrooms. Best Chinese west of the interstate for sure. read more

I have been going here for many years. It is a small place with very limited seating. I advise ordering for pickup and taking it home to eat. The food is very good, large portions with very reasonable prices. I especially like their egg rolls, Peking dumplings and hot and sour soup. I am not a fan of their crab rangoon which is shaped like a triangle and usually too done for my taste. The lunch and dinner specials are a very good value and I have tried most of them and not been disappointed yet. Communication and language can be a little bit of a problem here so check your orders right away before you leave. If you bring it to their attention right away they are very good about fixing it. On the other hand, if you wait till you get home, it could be a problem. My favorite dishes here are the General Tso's chicken, Beef Egg Fu Young and the absolutely delicious Jumbong soup. The menu is very large with something for everyone. Give this place a try. read more

I received their flyer in the mail and decided to give it a shot. We have just moved and hadn't found a chinese place to deliver yet. I read the other review about them and thought, well, maybe it was just a bad experience. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I ordered at 11:30 using their online system which says 40-50 minutes for delivery. At 65, I called and was told it was on it's way. At 80, it still wasn't here. Unforgivable in the sense of delivery, but also the woman that I spoke to was not exactly friendly, just very brisk and offered no explanation or apology. Needless to say, the food has still not arrived (2 hours later) and I am canceling my order. Even if the food was decent, I would never order from here again. I can only really give them 2 stars because while their Hot & Sour soup is really good, the quality of their entrees leave something to be desired. Ordered Schezuan Beef last night and it was mostly onion, a little carrot, and maybe 2 ounces of beef in the whole dish. Don't get me wrong, I love my veggies. But, perhaps name this dish Schezuan Onion to avoid confusion with your patrons. read more

I placed an order from these clowns tonight on their web site. They brought me the wrong food and then tried to convince me that I ordered the wrong dish even though I ordered the same thing a week ago. I put notes on the order just to make sure it came out right. I called them to discuss the problem and instead of helping me fix it, the person I spoke with became incredibly rude and refused to fix my order or refund my money. Please heed my review and pass on this spot. Like you I decided to ignore the reviews and order some food to my job. Delivery took 45 mins and total came to 14.55 which wasn't bad because their min order for delivers is 10.00. Anywho when the food arrive I couldn't wait to eat it looked yummy. As soon as I took a bite of my general chicken it immediately tasted like fish and was so off putting. My chicken didn't smell fishy but it tasted fishy and I couldn't even get pass that enough to eat it. My rice tasted like it was boiled in dirty alley water no lie and it was awful. I tried the chicken and broccoli add shrimp, make it spicy. My son had chicken wings and plain fried rice, his dad had shrimp fried rice with chicken egg rolls, and I had the golden crab sticks also. Pros: the chicken and broccoli add shrimp was amazing. All the appetizers were hot and fresh, and they are very healthy portions. The chicken egg rolls were very good, seeing as I don't usually care for egg rolls. Cons: they didn't make my food spicy like I asked, the plain fried rice had no veggies or even egg so it's literally just white rice, nothing fried about it. The shrimp fried rice included corn, not a fan. And the golden crab sticks were lumps of imitation crab with dough fried around them. And lastly, the customer service was simply non existent, we stood at the counter for 5 full minutes before we were even acknowledged. Not one smile was given by anyone we spoke to, they barely made eye contact. 3/5 simply for freshness and good taste overall. read more

First of all, when you click to post a review, it's extremely offensive to find a button that is labelled "read our review guidelines." SOOOO 1st Amendment . . .. For 14 years I ordered about once a month with only one complaint -- your soup tastes like the aluminum container it's been stored in for who-knows-how-many-days. Other than that, I was pleased and even posted so many great things to say about your food and staff and Yelp! once it was created. But in most recent months, I've heard female employees arguing with female customers to the point where I had to intervene & offer to pay for extra hot sauce for the customer to calm them down (Duh! I shouldn't have to train you on customer service skills or on how much to charge for extra hot sauce! I'm a CUSTOMER, not your trainer/employer!!!) Now tonight it was obvious that you just dumped uncooked veggies on top of my sesame chicken. You did not even cook them. DONE! DONE! DONE! Never again! I was always polite and tipped 20+ and even put up with your annoying follow-up calls where I felt in the past where you didn't agree that I could have a valid credit card!! You quit caring and now I quit buying. If 4 thumbs down were an option it still wouldn't be enough. This place is stated to close at 10pm. I had been craving Chinese food all day, I walk in there at 9:01pm and don't say word to find a the person at the desk sitting with their head down texting and sighing that I walked in.. No hello how are you doing? No welcome to China 1. Instead what was said to me was.. WHAT DO YOU WANT? NO EYE CONTACT, AND HANDS CONTINUOUSLY TEXTING. I asked hey did I come at a bad time, are you ok? Again what was said to me was JUST ORDER, WHAT DO YOU WANT? IF YOU ARE GONNA ORDER, ORDER ALREADY. I am shocked and at that point I'm taken off guard and appalled this is happening, because I have never been treated with such disrespect for no reason, I never gave him an attitude or eluded to a disagreement with this disgruntled employee. The gentleman went on to say we close in a little bit, I said Ok fine, I know how that feeling would be if someone came in at the tail end, trying to forget how disrespectful this guy had been from the time I walked and to the time we concluded speaking to one another. So I left and went to the Bag N save grocery store adjacent to the China 1 and got some groceries, preparing to cook at home now. I came outside 45 mins later to see the sign at China 1 displaying they were still open. This is blatantly disrespectful, racist and highly offensive.
