China 88 is a very standard Chinese restaurant in what was provided. It is nothing special and at the price point ($14 for a vegetarian option), I do not think it's worth it compared to other options with the same type of food. I ordered the sesame tofu. It was covered in sweet and sour sauce which is usually not the case when I've ordered the same option at other restaurants. It's usually a brown sauce. However, my friend ordered something with brown sauce and it tasted a bit off. When asked what the sauce was, the server responded "Brown sauce" and didn't elaborate in any further which was more hilarious than anything. The server was kind, but beyond that, there is really nothing special here to China 88. I think there are better Chinese restaurant options in Longmont. read more

We were out for a day trip to Longmont. Having done a trail hike, we were famished and looking for lunch. We came across China 88 and am I glad we did. This was just what we needed! It is located in a strip with other stores. There is plenty of parking. The staff was welcoming and the restaurant was clean and bright. My daughter ordered Pho, a favorite of hers. I had Pad Thai and my husband went for Kung Pao Chicken. The portions are more than generous. There is enough to take home for another meal! We all enjoyed our food. The Pho came with a plate of fresh toppings including Thai basil, sliced jalapeno, bean sprouts and lime. My Chicken Pad Thai was spiced just right. There was a nice amount of egg in the dish. It is one of my go-to items to order when I can. My husband likes a good kick of spice so he opted for Kung Pao Chicken. He is not able to eat peanuts and they had no problem leaving them off of his dish. I plan to keep this place in mind when we need to find a meal in Longmont! read more

Today was our third time ordering food here. By far, the best Chinese restaurant in Longmont. We have ordered two times as take out and one time as dine-in. Either way, it's a delicious meal. The non- spicy versions of the dishes have zero heat. The mild, was just right for me. I highly recommend any of the appetizers, the soups, the orange chicken, the eggplant with garlic and the bbq pork. All truly delicious. Was kind of nervous coming for the pho given we have tried every spot in Longmont, Fort Collins, and a few in Boulder. Small location, big taste. Been going here for a few years and never a bad order. Sometimes the wait can be a little longer than estimated, but it's worth the wait. Family run and they are always rocking in the kitchen. The orders are fresh and always ample portions, even for the most experienced Chinese food connoisseur. The dumplings and eggrolls are my favorite appetizer, with the fried rice combos and Sesame Chicken as my go-to entree orders. Many traditional menu items with some newer flavors as well. Don't be fooled by the looks of this little hole-in-the-wall - the food is outstanding!! We had Moo Shu Chicken and felt like we were back in San Francisco!! We also enjoyed the Sesame Chicken. This place is so delicious we came back twice in our week long vacation to Longmont. The first time was truly stumbling on it - we were hungry and saw it from the street. We ordered the pad Thai (shrimp) and spring rolls via walk up ordering and they turned it around within 5-10minutes so SUPER QUICK on a late Saturday night around 8:30pm. The service size was big enough for my husband and I to split both items without issue. The spice level was hot, but when you order you have the option to modify. We actually just visited Thailand this year and this pad Thai brought us right back to our trip!! Authentic, delicious, and savory. We came to Longmont to visit some friends who lived there, who surprisingly had never had Chine88 - so after our wonderful first experience they wanted to try it too. We ordered. A large takeout meal at 7pm on a weekday, and the kitchen was so slammed that the wait time was 40 minutes. Honestly - totally worth it!! We ordered Mongolian beef, orange chicken, broccoli beef, spicy tofu, and more and honestly all was PERFECT. Service sizes gave all of us leftovers to enjoy the next day, even while all of us were sharing and tasting each other's entrees. Truly a dime in Longmont for Asian cuisine, with plenty to offer from different Asian origins. I usually shy away from places who offer multiple - but they did it right!! Hello, I am back. I just wanted to share a point of view of a now "regular" customer.... I really enjoy the food. Everything seems to taste delicious and feels fresh to me. I love their option of tons of veggies and tofu with pho as well. I feel that is something traditional pho can lack is more veggies! I've been going to China 88 for a solid year off at least once a week (I don't like to cook, he he) and everything I have tried is delicious. Eggplant (sweet and tangy sauce), Tomato Tofu, Green Beans (delish), Pho... Marinated Tofu, etc is all really tasty. And I am an impatient person sometimes but they always have my order ready to go. I went to a local Thai restaurant (well, right out of town from Longmont) recently and they didn't have my order ready in an hour and didn't even know it was there (didn't turn on the computer for online ordering acknowledgement!) So I appreciate the order coming in on time! It is also boxed up well and is easy to transport back home with no spilling. I have yet to try the Chinese menu... I have been to China many times for work and would love to try a more traditional Chinese menu in the states. I do like that their food is not just sweet, it also has notes of other spices. That is my biggest gripe with Americanized Chinese food, that it ends up tasting too sweet or not spicy enough. I really like China 88! read more

We ordered two entrées, two soups, and one order of spring rolls to go. Not a terribly complicated order. But when we got home and unsealed packaging, we discovered that one of the orders was completely wrong. And the fried rice was nothing more than white rice, with a little bit of brown Soy sauce on it. Even though we had paid extra, there was none of the usual ingredients with the fried rice. There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants in town. I would give them a try next time instead of this one. read more

I never do reviews but what this restaurant did was NOT OK!!! I Will never step foot in this restaurant again.!!!!! I ordered $100 worth of Chinese food to be picked up they completely got my order wrong. They tried to charge me for extra rice when I didn't order extra rice. I ordered Beef pho got chicken when I asked to refund they refused. Lady yelled at me and said "you order big order you don't get a refund" when I Said it wasn't what I ordered and I wanted my money back they refuse they said "you take it anyway because they cooked it". When I told them that I wanted at least to be refunded for the pho and the rice they said no and That I had to leave the box there and they weren't gonna even let me take my food. Had to call the police just to get my box out of the restaurant because they weren't letting me leave with my food or a refund for a $100 order. Finally they gave PD a partial refund for the pho and took it and all my rice out of the box. When I told PD this was not right they said they couldn't do anything it was a civil Matter and I should just take what they gave me and go. I've been a restaurant worker/manager for over 20 years and NEVER had this ever happen anywhere. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! They steal your money and don't give you what you order! read more

We have been eating at China 88 for years and considered it the best Chinese and Thai food around. Tonight we got our food, went home and they forgot the rice in our order. The food we got was just horrible. Absolutely no flavor, shrimp was over cooked and like rubber. My Penang curry tasted like plain coconut milk. The portions are smaller, the egg rolls are skinny with hardly any filling. I called to tell them and they told me it's new owners and a new cook. Someone bought a thriving business with great food and is pretty much ruining it. We will not be ordering from there again. I've never been compelled to write a review until now. read more

Ordered delivery to try this restaurant for the first time. Vegetables were soggy. Spicy food was bland. Did not include hot mustard with egg rolls or fried noodle package for large soup order. After paying the delivery driver a 15% tip, I discovered 15% had been added as a delivery fee. Will order from Tasty Asia or Spicy House in the future. Not the best Chinese or Vietnamese I've ever had but fair -good. Truthfully, this is a Chinese restaurant serving Vietnamese fare so it's probably not their forté. I've tried their Pad Thai which comes in a good portion, and it's a little over sauced and needs more fish sauce. I usually get tofu instead of other meat choices and it's flavor-fully oily but not unpleasant like you'd think. It soaks up the flavor of the sauce and it's served in plentiful portions. The Spring rolls are good but they should be wrapped tighter and the dipping sauce, a pea-nutty sauce, is "alright". The combination pho was pretty good with all the meats and a fried spring roll. The broth was not as complex as others I've tried. I remember choosing one of the Cspecials on their menu board and I think it was an eggplant dish. I didn't expect it to be fried and it didn't specify it on the menu board. It wasn't my favorite, to be polite. This place is a little pricier than I expected with most entrees in the $12 range. If it wasnt so convenient to my home and the Safeway store, I'm not sure I'd return. Another visit. Uggh too much sauce. Are they using MSG? I give up on this place. I can never finish a dish. Just too much "flavoring". Off putting. By the way, I called and asked them if they had someone to DELIVER and they've been here in about 40 minutes. I don't order at full restaurant meal times either. I've always been happy with their delivery speed. I live only 5 minutes away, though. They always ask me if I have cash instead of a credit card. My wife is from China and wanted some authentic dishes. We tried a few other places in Longmont, and she liked this one the best now (may 2017). The stew was wonderful. Prices very reasonable too.
