This place is inside of a grocery store called Panasia. There is seating to dine in, or you can order it to go. I've been coming here for years, and the service is always fast so if you see a long line don't worry. And trust me, it's worth the wait. My son and I always order the large noodle bowl with extra noodles. We have gotten the bowl with pork belly, and also the bbq pork. Both are phenomenal. Point blank period. And I love to stop by after I've already shopped and fill up before I leave. And it's fun to people watch. Please remember to tip if you can. One of the best restaurants in the city is hidden in an unassuming grocery store! I think they are best known for their Singaporean noodles (better than corner 17's!) but everything I've tried there has been excellent. these guys have been my favorite part of Pan-Asia ever since the grocery store opened. Great Asian bakery selection from day one. Made me a chicken feet in wine sauce addict! Awesome BBQ pork, duck, and breads and a very balanced fu qi fei pian seasoning for their build your own option. I almost always get something when I go grocery shopping, and with the expansion my wish for a dining option inside has been granted! Now I also almost always choose to go shopping here so I can eat inside. Note: the hours are not the same as the store but I can't remember what cuz it kept changing for a while. Right now they take a break around 230-330? And close at 730p before the store does. The selection on the dine in side is pared down, but that means all the foods come quickly. I love all the dry noodle options except the Dan Dan noodle (way overboard on the numbing). The pho was a miss - very bland broth. I usually don't order fried rice so I don't know about those. The few other non rice/noodle are ok, kind of leans toward Chinese-American but taste good - I like the garlic pork (yu xiang rou si). Usually I go for beef chow fun or Beijing style zha jiang mian, but the Taiwan style rice noodle stir fry is a new favorite. The only knock I have is that ever since they expanded they haven't been 100% knocking it out of the park every time like they were before. A few times, my bbq pork wasn't as seasoned, my duck was a little dry another time, my spicy chicken a little less fragrant, etc. But they seem to be working out the kinks more because it's less and less so the case and I'm hopeful. Don't be disappointed if your first visit isn't amazing and keep supporting this small local business trying to figure things out! Brought my 89-year-old mom to try this hidden restaurant, located INSIDE a large grocery store (Pan-Asian Market) and not advertised. It's on the right, near and beyond the register area. Many tables for 4, very close together, which we thought was odd since the store requires masks--no exceptions-- except while eating. They have a limited but great selection of traditional Vietnamese and only a few Chinese dishes, which belies the name, but we came for Vietnamese, so we were happy. Order at the counter (they do a big takeout business, too), sit and be served. Pay at time of ordering. Get your own utensils, napkins, sauces before sitting. Quick service (at 11 AM...got a lot busier by 11:30, and several were waiting to pick up as we left). My mom wanted the crispy fried egg noodles with shrimp (diners have choices among 4 proteins or mixed) that she grew to love (at the defunct Kim Son in U City), and the description (#15) seemed to be that, but it wasn't. She did like it, however, and the portion was so large that we took home enough for her to add more fish and get 3-4 more meals, totaling 5 for her tiny appetite, for under $12! As a beef pho fan and connoisseur since having had many hundreds of bowls in the CA Bay Area, in St. Louis Seattle, Los Angeles, and elsewhere since 2002, I ordered the sliced beef #1), large, with extra basil (disappointed that they charged $1 for that extra...costs about 10 cents...). Ate my fill and brought home enough for 1 more meal (added some shiitake mushrooms during reheating, with even more fresh basil and cilantro), also for under $12. It was delicious both times, with plenty of flavor, beef, noodles and broth. We'll be back. Mom wants to try the duck. read more

Hidden (well, maybe not so hidden any longer) gem in West County. I consider myself a pho connessuier and there seafood version is some of the best I've had. Food was amazing and we're already planning out what we'll be eating next! We read about this hidden gem and couldn't wait to try it, and we're glad we did. It sits inside of Pan-Asia grocery store. I personally have not eaten Chinese food in this area because it all seems to be the same "Americanized" version but this place is different! Plenty of seating available and when we ordered at the counter the guy was very helpful with suggestions. Food came out quick and when I saw this big bowl of beef soup my initial response was "Omg that looks delicious!" which the guy replied "I know." lol. The other dish we ordered was #19 a thick noodle stir fry of some kind, also very tasty! I forgot to take a picture as we were super excited to dig into the soup. Prices were cheap in our opinion - $9.99 for both dishes and the portion sizes were generous! We couldn't finish and we both have hearty appetites. I would love to be informed of where I can find a spot to eat Chinese food (or Asian Cuisine for that matter), Nearly as Good, As Good, or Even Better. Their BBQ Pork - the closest amazing flavor's to the Char Siu BBQ pork that I have enjoyed in Hawaii Threw down the challenge, and I hope I can be proven wrong. I've eaten at China Bistro twice now. It's the food counter inside the Pan-Asia Supermarket. On my first visit I ordered dandan noodles. The portion was huge but I took about 4 bites of these and I couldn't eat anymore. The mala (spicy and numbing Chinese sauce) was overwhelming! I was uncomfortable and my lips were simultaneously numb and on fire! I ignored the lady when she said "very spicy" and said to myself, of course dandan noodles will be spicy. Too much for me! On my second visit I ordered #7 Singapore Rice Noodles. This is typically called Singapore chow mei fun. It's a thin rice noodle with curry, egg, shrimp, and pork. This was delicious and a large portion! The food is great here, the prices are extremely reasonable (all around $10 per dish), and the portions are very generous. Great place to eat before you shop the market. I'm looking forward to working my way through this menu! I will be back! read more

You come for the food not the ambience...just a counter to order and some tables in a supermarket...but it is fast and the staff is wonderful! Great spicy options for the brave! They might be the best Asian restaurant in west county. The beef pho is one of my favorite meals ever. The portions are large and the flavor is worth going into the store to get. My other favorites are the eggplant in garlic sauce, stir fried bok Choy and the fish filet in wine sauce. My only complaint is that they stopped letting grub hub deliver. read more

So far we have only tried their Dan Dan noodles, but the flavor was very authentic - numbing and spicy with a wonderfully complex flavor. My first visit definitely won't be my last. As other reviewers have stated, this "restaurant" is a small counter inside the Pan-Asia supermarket at Manchester and 141 (next to Academy). The only reason I knew it was there was because I was searching for Ramen and Ramen Tei is closed on Tuesdays, so I was searching Yelp and Google for a replacement for my noodle fix. I have never been in the supermarket and I really wanted to explore while waiting for my food. We arrived at about 6 and the sign posted said they closed at 7 (different from Yelp that says 6:30). We were a little cautious with our first order and ordered the #9 plain fried rice with beef and #17 Stir fried Egg noodles for the kids, and I ordered the #20 Beef Stew thick noodle soup. The ordering process was pretty simple and I was asked to order by number, although be prepared that they do run out of things. I tried to order the #16 beef chow fun but they were out, and diners after me were told that they ran out of fried rice, white rice, and some other items as we got closer to closing time. The operation is not super slick, but you are getting good food from good people so be kind and be patient. My food took a full 44 minutes from order to walking out, but I think part of the reason for the long wait is that they get very confused about who ordered what because they don't write order numbers or what the food is on the containers. I think I saw my food walk out a couple of times with people who ordered after me, lol! I think next time I may dine in becasue I think priority is given to dine-in orders and the dishes get less "lost" because they are in real dishes instead of stacked together in anonymous styrofoam and are brought to the table as soon as they are made. When we got home, we dug in and the food was very delicious and certainly worth a little wait. The beef in the fried rice was lean and good quality and the rice was delicious (heavy on the bean sprouts which my daughter didn't love but were easily picked out). The Stir fried egg noodles were a very thin noodle with big chunks of fluffy scrambled egg, plus some onion, carrot, and maybe bean sprouts. They were very plain but great for kids and easy to dress up with condiments. Also, when I say "plain", it still had better flavor than most noodles I have gotten at other places that just taste like soy sauce. My beef stew was outstanding! It had a very rich, dark broth that had a tiny bit of spiciness and I think was stewed with onion and mushroom, with a nice sheen that made me feel like it had been made with real beef with real fat that seeped into the broth. I got a huge quart container full of that delicious broth and a huge clamshell full of fat noodles, with a small amount of bok choi, carrot, and some spring onion. Not a lot of veg but a massive amount of food. Put together, the broth and the noodles were perfection and I loved every bite! Such an amazing soup and I am definitely getting it next time I am sick because I think it would cure me immediately! I can't wait to go back and try more things! Awesome small restaurant in the middle of Pan-Asia Supermarket. BBQ pork (char siu) is delectable and better than a lot of Chinese restaurants on Olive. We also tried pork with bamboo shoots, green beans, eggplant in garlic sauce, and the Beijing noodles. I'd recommend all of those dishes save the Beijing noodles since it was mainly noodles with a tiny bit of meat. read more

I am not as pleased with this place as i was when it first opened. The portions were never generous, but are now smaller, prices have gone up, and the quality has gone down. On our most recent visit the Singapore Mai Fun was unexceptional and gritty from the curry powder. I am pretty sure it wasn't made to order because it was brought out within a minute of paying for it at the register. The spicy eggplant with seafood was slathered in a blunt, one dimensional sauce the consistency of ketchup. The "seafood" consisted of the same small shrimp as the mai fun, and a few, nearly undetectable pieces of squid smaller than a dime. Surimi, an inexpensive, processed food made from fish paste, was the most abundant ingredient. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the eggplant hadn't been cooked enough. The bill for these two marginal dishes was $28, which may not seem too bad, but lets not forget you're eating in the middle of a grocery store with zero ambiance. China Bistro is okay for a quick soup or a noodle dish. But for a more involved meal one is better off driving the extra distance to U City. Our visits to Cate Zone provide a far more pleasurable experience. read more

I've only been once and ordered the "Vietnamese Beef Noodle Bowl" AKA pho tai. You order and pay at the counter then someone brings you your food. Beverages, condiments and the like are self-service. I didn't see a place for trash or to put dirty dishes, so I left those at the table when finished. The people were friendly, but three stars seems appropriate for a partially self-service situation. The menu seems to specialize in noodle bowl and soup-type dishes. They also have a limited number of what appear to be Peking ducks hanging in a case, as well as a selection of cakes and buns. I ordered a large bowl of pho with beef. The broth was light-colored and not too greasy. It was on the sweeter side than I prefer, I think the cinnamon and star anise were dominant, but I'm no expert on Vietnamese flavors. The beef was not the thin, raw slices that many places offer, which cooks in the hot broth. These were more like strips of fully cooked meat. The bowl was accompanied by rhe standard plate of bean sprouts, cilantro, basil and lime. Overall, it was a pretty good bowl. Not the best ever, but above average to my taste. The prices were very reasonable. It was a good experience, especially adding in the chance to browse the market or do some shopping before or after lunch. read more

This has been our go-to place for asian/Chinese food ever since it opened. We don't travel to Olive eat here every week! The dishes are reasonably priced for the portion. My kids love to eat here, even if we get the same dishes every time! I hope they will expand their menu gradually, or even add a bubble tea station at some point on their bakery side. My first time here after about a year ago when they first open. They expand the grocery store and it's really nice and clean! I used to go to Global Market for my Asian grocery but I think I will go here instead. I'm asian myself and love the food here (China Bistro inside the store). From what we've found, this is the best pho in our neighborhood! We're excited to explore the rest of the menu, but the pho is so good that it's hard to pass up when we repeat visits. But at least when we see other people ordering different dishes, the food all looks and smells delicious! The staff are also friendly and prompt, and the prices just can't be beat! Obviously, in the middle of a supermarket, if you're vying for ambiance, it's not unpleasant, but it's not a restaurant setting--like I said, it's counter service to dine in or take out inside a supermarket. Delish! Great authentic Asian fare. The beef chow fun is amazing (#16) as is the eggplant (#23) and fish in white wine sauce (#27). The chow fun is a bit on the oily side, as it should be! The beef is tender, the noodles are perfect. The eggplant has great texture and is not slimy. The sauce is slightly sweet and perfectly savory. We have been shopping at PanAsia since the day they opened. HUGE benefit to this area. My wife and I were in getting groceries and noticed the eatery already was expanded and much more inviting and functional. Big TV menu screens and great descriptions for each choice. The staff manning the counter and open kitchen were very friendly and inviting. We EXTREMELY enjoyed the Taiwanese Style Stir Fried Rice Noodles and the Shrimp Fried Rice. This resturant is inside PanAsia Supermarket. Putting aside the fact that panasia is arguably the best asian supermarket in St.Louis, the food here was very good. The prices are very cheap compared to other chinese resturants. For example, a large bowl of beef pho here was like 10 dollars. the bowl was HUGE!!!
