We came here for a quick lunch today and I love their generous portion sizes. We ordered a lamb gyro with pita wrap and a lamb gyro rice plate, as well as a tandoori chicken rice plate. They cut the gyro meat and fry it up in front of you so the meat was all really fresh! I liked how I could add as many toppings as I wanted (mushroom, lettuce, tomato, coriander sauce, feta cheese, shredded cheese, green peppers, onions). The rice was cooked perfectly. I recently had occasion to drop-off a package at the UPS store on Manchester and decided to see what St Louis Gyros had to offer. You order at the far end of the long counter. I ordered a lamb-beef gyro on a whole wheat pita. You choose your toppings very much like at a Subway. I like this because I don't want raw onions and can easily get what I prefer without asking them to hold this or that. It really works perfectly. They grilled the lamb-beef right there in front of me and warmed the pita. The serving of meat was very large, and they were also generous with the yoghurt sauce, the lettuce, the tomatoes and black olives that I asked for. I took it home, cut it in half and split it with Ms T. It was very good, and we both had more than we needed from one gyro. This place is less than two miles from my house, and I am at the UPS store a couple of times a month, depending on how many Amazon purchases I am returning. I definitely see return visits in our future. This is so much better than the ill-named Tazikis in De Peres, that there is no comparison. In addition to the lamb-beef mixture, they offer falafel, chicken, buffalo chicken, tandoori chicken, rib eye and a mixed grill. You choose what meat and decide if you want it on a gyro, in a rice bowl, in a taco, in a burrito, on a cheese steak or on a salad. This is a good modular way to provide an assortment of ways to enjoy the fillings. I like it! You can eat inside or do take-out. read more

You know, I can't say I liked it terribly much. To be fair I can't comment on the entire experience other than just the food ordered to go. This was a little bit ago but as I remember I was not a big fan of the gyro, which is always my go-to when it comes to first visits to Mediterranean places. That's a good base for me to determine what kind of food they have, normally that works well. The bread was not my favourite, it wasn't the perfect pita for gyros. From what I remember it was thick and felt like dough rather than pita bread. The meat I got was dry but i can't fault them too much because i did not visit at prime time and I probably got food that wasn't at it's prime when it had to be served. But solely on the food I got I can only rate St Louis Gyros only a three. I'll be going back to visit again and hopefully will get a better sense of what things are like. They are local to me and I'm sure I could go a few times to give the best accurate reviewI can. But as it stands, 3 stars. Stay tuned! read more

I love gyros and most places don't make them the right way, however, this joint made the perfect gyros and on top of that you got to choose your toppings so it was always done right; the beef to lamb ratio was especially perfect! They gave a large serving of fries and their baklava was most amazing! The service was quick and the staff was attentive. The place has quite a bit of seating for such a small establishment, however I will note that the booths were a bit grimy and there wasn't a napkin in sight. Overall I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is a Greek food lover like me! read more

My new favorite west county gyro spot. My previous gyro place closed and I was looking for a replacement and this fit the bill. Super organized and fast service. I like that they also cook the meat in front of you assuring a hot sandwich. Great sauces and accoutrements to add. Seasoned fries were good too with the proper crunchiness. Gyros were basic, nothing really to complain or compliment. The building is older and the walls are peeling a bit, looks like it's been awhile since they did a deep cleaning. One thing to note: they use LATEX gloves as their food prep gloves. This is definitely fine, but should be posted as a potential allergy warning because I had a reaction after eating and my daughter realized it was related to the food prep gloves (I have a latex allergy). If I had known in advance, I would have skipped the visit due to the high risk. read more

A great spot for lunch or dinner on the go. Gyros are becoming more and more common in STL (thankfully), I stopped in here with my kids once and went back later with co workers when it was my turn to pick lunch. The venue doesn't have many frills, but it is clean and the workers are efficient. Hands down, this is the best gyro in St. Louis! I absolutely love the beef/lamb gyro here! The meat is shaved fresh from the spit upon ordering. The meat and the pita are freshly grilled up. I like that they offer the choice between a regular pita and a whole wheat pita. I prefer whole wheat for the extra health benefits. The meat is really tender, juicy, and flavorful. Their tzatziki sauce here is top notch! So fresh, flavorful, and addicting. I always get 2 scoops of sauce - can't get enough. It is nice that they allow you to choose unlimited fresh veggie toppings as well. Both the Creve Coeur and Manchester locations are equally good. It isn't a glamorous place if you want to eat in, but as long as the food is stellar...that is all that matters! read more

I have been to this restaurant maybe once or twice before and have always liked it. We recently ordered on a Saturday night for carry out for a larger group. I love that the menu is super varied and there is something for everyone, even people who don't like Greek. The online ordering experience was OK, but there was a pretty significant issue. Nowhere on the online ordering could you specify sauces or toppings on the side and there was no final comment box on the order to allow you to specify that. Almost all of the people in my party wanted their sauces on the side because they were unsure whether they would like them or not. Unfortunately, that was not possible with the online ordering. Because there was no option for sauces on the side. We made an assumption that it will be done by default. Unfortunately, we were wrong. To me that's a pretty big online ordering gap. If I were ordering in the store, I would absolutely be able to tell them that I wanted something on the side. Our food was prepared quickly and almost everyone liked what they received. The biggest complaint was of course sauces on the meals. One in my party ordered a rice bowl and wanted to try the chili hot sauce on the side, but since there was no option to do that, the dish ended up being too spicy for them. Another in my party wanted to try two different sauces on his loaded fries. We hoped those sauces would be in small containers on the side of his fries, but they were both dumped on and he did not enjoy them together. Other than sauce issues everything was delicious. The gyros were a favorite as well as the buffalo chicken burrito and the ribeye pita. We ordered a couple appetizers. We did not like the samosas as much as at our local Indian restaurant and probably would not order again. That was another online ordering difficulty because the online menu didn't specify how many you would receive in an order and the picture showed six. Because we weren't sure how many we would get in an order we waited to order them when he went to pick up. Each Samosa order is only one Samosa. The green sauce was OK but didn't go great with the samosas. The pita fries were decent, but the amount of hummus and Taziki on the side was pretty small compared to the number of pita fries. I really liked the falafel so that would be the only appetizer I would order going forward. We will absolutely be back for gyros, and buffalo chicken but probably will not order online in the future due to the difficulty in getting items on the side. I think they prep the food pretty quickly so standing at the counter and ordering will work better for us. read more

Tried a lamb/beef gyro and a lamb/beef taco. Neither had anything *wrong* but neither were impressive. Saw another review said huge portions, well she got lucky because our gyro & taco were just average size. Maybe the taco was on the bigger end because I asked for multiple toppings. Also tzatziki sauce on the taco was on one end; other end was mostly dry. Same for gyro but daughter asked for less toppings. Meat portions in both were just average but meat was too salty for my taste; I'm salt sensitive though. All in all we prefer the other gyro place in town. read more

Do NOT go here on your lunch break if you have any sort of time frame to keep. We stood in line for 25 minutes and we were next in line... The big order in front of us ? 2 Gyros and a gyro salad... Carve it off, throw it on pita or bowl . You might be hearing the "holy smokes we are going be late back to work" in this review. To be clear... The gyros were fantastic. Tastiness saved them from a worse review. Place was a dump. All surfaces were sticky, trash on floor, dirty tables, etc. This wasn't during lunch rush, either--it was 2pm. Gyro wasn't bad. You order it and then have them add toppings, like Subway. Luckily the got an "A" health sticker rating, because you sure wouldn't have known it by looking at the place. I've had this place bookmarked. THEN, I got a tip from Charleen S. and Ben S. to try this place. May 30, I had the opportunity. Lo and behold, this establishment is the sister to the restaurant of the same name on Olive in a strip mall that includes my hair guy, my dentist, La Salsa, Gulf Shores, Jet's Pizza, Batteries +, Performance Eyecare and more. And I've been to the one on Olive -- two times in 2014. I got a gyro -- why not? But, they've got appetizers, cheesesteaks, bowls, salads and many types of gyros. I watched him cut the meat off the spit, crisp it on the grill top. I opted for the standard pita (whole-wheat is available). Added tomatoes, white onion, tzatziki, cucumber and A LOT OF FETA. There were so many options to add to the gyro, you could disguise the sandwich. Not sure that's a good idea. What a great lunch for ~$10. read more

Their menu is pretty big so after you get your gyro fix be sure to try the buffalo chicken wrap. This location has a special treat for those with a bit of time, fried (broast) chicken! The broast chicken is light and fluffy and so so so good. I like to get a side of the red hot sauce to drizzle over the chicken for some spicy fried chicken. Just now had one disgruntled employee ( who seemed to be in charge )cuss and shout for my entire time in the restaurant. St. Louis Gyros is great to grab a quick gyro to go. They have a ton of options other than gyros but I've only ever had the gyros. They cut the meat off a spindle and throw it on the grill. Then you tell them what toppings you want on it as they make it in front of you (kind of like Subway-style). They have all the classic gyro toppings options but also some that you wouldn't expect like jalapenos and mushrooms. For a gyro and fries it's about $10, which I think is a fair deal. My favorite is the lamb beef gyro, but I've also tried the chicken gyro and it's pretty good too. Also make sure to get some samosas, they are really good too. read more
