General Tso's Chicken. Very crisp and tasty.

Cooked fresh and was still hot when I got home. The guy that took my order was friendly and it seemed that it is a family restaurant as he was playing with a child behind the counter while my food was being prepared. Exactly what I was looking for before I checked into my room

I was on my way home when out of the corner of my eye the China Bowl sign caught my attention. Seeing as Panda Express was my only other Asian food option in this area- PASS- I went ahead and pulled in to see what they had to offer. It didn't look like much on the outside but when I walked through the doors I was amazed to see how large and roomy this place was. I was quickly greeted by a heavily accented asian man at the order counter. I told him I needed a few minutes to look over the menu since I had never been in and he told me to just let him know when I was ready. There are quite a few items listed on the menu and there were several pictures on the walls of menu items that were helpful in my decision making. I finally decided to go with an order of fried dumplings, a small (pint) size of the hot and sour soup and the general tso's combo meal. As the man took my order I was curious as to what ethnicity he was, being part asian myself, and how long the store had been open. The gentleman told me that they had been open for 3 yrs and that they were from Beijing China. As I waited for my food I snapped some pics of the restaurant. This place offers a lunch buffet Mon through Fri from 11am-2:30 at a very reasonable price. They have a lot of tables and chairs and could easily accommodate a small lunch crowd during that time. The bathrooms were very clean and there were a few nice wall pictures hanging up around the restaurant. My food was ready so I took my to go bag, thanked him and left. Leaving the parking lot I saw that there is a drive thru window on the corner that is also available if you don't want to go in. Ok, so I get home and take everything out to assess my meal. The first thing I noticed and liked was that they double bagged my food. I hate getting just the plastic bag from other places. My food always seems to shift and leak out everywhere. Not a problem here since they had placed a brown paper bag inside the plastic bag that seemed to secure the contents inside. I also noticed that they had placed a small piece of cardboard underneath my bowl of soup to keep it from sliding around the bag as well. My hot and sour soup wasn't great. It had a lot of items in it which was a plus, but it seemed bland to me. The fried dumplings I ordered (I got 2 extra in my order of 8) were good and stayed crisp from there to my house and came with a decent dipping sauce. The combo meal I ordered was a huge portion of fried rice, general tao's chicken and an egg roll. The meal was ok. It was saucy, which I like and had asked them to put extra sauce in there so I could mix it with my rice, but I was looking for it to have a bit of a kick or spice to it but it didn't. It wasn't bad but it wasn't out of this world good either. The egg roll was good and had lots of flavor. All in all, it was a decent meal. One thing I have to remember when I go to different Asian restaurants is that, depending on where the owners/cooks are originally from, their cooking style will be reflected in their food and it may be different from what I think it should be. Taking that into consideration I still think the offerings here were good. If I went back I would order something different and ask them to put a little more spice/heat in my meal. Maybe it was just that dish. Anyways, this is STILL better than Panda Express up the street, and if I don't have time to get out to a different Asian restaurant then they will get my business on this side of town.

Our server was extremely friendly and quickly brought us drinks. Since this was our first time it took us a while to look over the menu which was quite extensive. The entire back page of the menu was filled with lunch specials which are priced very reasonably at $7.99. We all ordered from the lunch menu. I ordered Chicken lo Mein anda cup of Hot & Sour soup. The other people in my party ordered Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. All three of us were extremely pleased with the service and the quality of the food. My hot and sour soup was extremely delicious. It was chock full of sliced mushrooms and several pieces of tofu and it was almost a meal in itself and was served very hot. My Chicken lo Mein was equally delicious. The others in my party praised their meals as well and all three of us felt that we had finally found an excellent Chinese restaurant. I look forward to my next visit.

For those that know traditional spicy shrimp, this was spot on! Dusting of breading to hold the salt and deep fried with the shell on, which most will eat. The Thai iced tea was fire, but the basil fried rice was mediocre. My wife had one of the Thai noodle dishes, and I thought it lacked flavor as well. After talking to the staff, I learned that the owners are Burmese, so I'll come back to try those dishes, which looked pretty good. I would suggest tone down the music a bit as it might not be for everyone.

The sit-down style restaurant restaurant has plenty of room for individual guests or larger groups, and has a pleasant and restful atmosphere. The staff are courteous and helpful and the wait times are minimal. Take-out service is also available. The food is excellent. They have a number of lunch special options, but also offer a wide variety of popular appetizers and entrés that should please everyone. I have eaten here at least three times, and have brought co-workers as well. All are impressed by the range of options, the quality, and hospitality. We are grateful for another successful restaurant in south Bixby.

You can get all the common dishes here but you can also get some unusual dishes that are very authentic. My grandson once ordered jelly fish. You can't get that at very many local restaurants. Another thing I like is that they have a couple of large round tables with lazy Susans. Our extended family sat at one of those tables once. It was fun putting the things we wanted to share on the lazy Susan and being able to spin it around and try what we wanted. It made for fun conversation talking about the different dishes. That was when our grandson ordered jellyfish. The restaurant is fairly small but the large tables make the restaurant good for groups. I think this would be an excellent place for a Yelp event. They have a lunch menu but you have to ask for it. It includes some of the popular Asian dishes for $9:95. They have smaller portions that come with a choice of soup or egg roll. Danny and I asked to see the lunch menu, but decided to order off the main menu. We split Crispy Tofu with garlic sauce and egg rolls. I liked the presentation of the egg rolls. They were cut diagonally and arranged nicely on the plate. The tofu dish was quite tasty. Next time, I plan to get Mei Fun. I have had it here before and loved the variety of flavors. The service wasn't terrible but it wasn't wonderful. We got our food in a timely manner, but we felt rushed to order and she didn't check to see if we needed anything or refill our water glasses. Service here has been excellent in the past. I am glad we came back to Chengdu and were reminded of how much we like it. We will be back soon.

I have had the opportunity to eat at some of the finest Chinese restaurants throughout San Francisco and have eaten at some of the best Chinese restaurants in Baja Mexico (I realize this may sound ridiculous, but Mexico has some of the best Asian restaurants). It may surprise you but the Chinese influence and culture is very rich in Baja. And, I like some heat! I am also somewhat familiar with the Schahuan region style of cooking recognized for being spicy and hot! I was visiting from Texas, my cousin and kinda fell upon this restaurant accidentally! Truly I forgot what all we ordered but I know I had the Green Beans and Chicken Lo Mein. This is one of the top three Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten at! The food was so authentic, just enough heat and delicious! I would love to return.
