I've eaten here a handful of times. The food is probably the best I've eaten in this area and they get it done fairly quickly. Decided to go again as a quick dinner idea. Ordered my food they said about an hour. I figured with the whole COVID thing that it was normal. Long behold, I show up an hour later and the food is not done yet. It took 2.25 hours for my food to be ready. And that was fast compared to other customers that were waiting longer. When I asked for something in return of waiting for so long. They said no. Ordered beef low mein with wonton soup. The worst chinese food I ever tasted. Very little taste to the low main with very, very little beef. I had to throw it away. Same with the soup. Not sure what they put in the wontons, but it was terrible. My wife had the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken was breaded and was hard as a rock. The checken inside was too over cooked as well. Didn't like the sweet and sour sauce either. Couldn't have saved the dish anyway. read more

Horrible smell upon entering. Came here a few times when it first opened. Didn't like it because the "chicken" is really small pieces covered in batter to make them seem big. Figured I'd try it again. Got general tso's chicken and when you bite into the chicken all you get is pure crunch and maybe some awful dark meat chicken if you're lucky. You're also met with completely flavorless sauce that has the viscosity of syrup. This review is solely based on the food. The orange chicken and the sesame chicken were so dried out & they barely had any flavor to them. I should have not ordered after the first time, but wanted to give a second chance. We have lived in Queen Creek for a year and a half now, and decided to try this place for the first time last night. I haven't had much luck with chinese places and I must say, it was pretty darn good! I wish we would have tried it sooner! I ordered the broccoli in a garlic sauce with steamed rice, and also the string beans in a garlic sauce. First off, the portions were big! Easily enough to feed two people if not more. I ate half of the broccoli dish by myself, and will be eating the other half tonight. I gave this place a 4 stars because of the string beans.. the flavor was great, but the beans were not fully cooked. They were a bit on the crunchy side. My husband ordered a mix of things, beef on a stick, shrimp soup ( I think?) haha .. anyways, he enjoyed everything! We will for sure be back! This place is right around the corner in Fry's parking lot. Unless you drive by the side you wouldn't find the place and a few other small businesses. I walked in with my dog in my hands and it wasn't a problem for the shop. I got take out, so I placed my order. It was ready very fast. Once I got home I started to eat the cashew chicken with fryed rice. Which was good. So much food I am having left overs tonight. I decided to stop by once more after having my order lost on my previous attempt. I ordered General Tso's Shrimp to go. Portions were generous. The General Tso's sauce is about the tastiest I've ever had. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that my bag had brown liquid in the bottom until after I'd drove home with it in the passenger seat. So, this place has changed. The staff is more friendly and now they are actually here to help. Maybe the COVID-19 closure and thoughts of what it felt like to lose your business set in. Actually been back a few times and it was good. They were smart to capitalize on their take-out side and keep the food flowing. We will continue going back as long as we aren't short changed and the food is as good as it has been. Way to earn our business back. I like everything I've gotten here, such as the egg drop soup, the egg rolls, fried rice, pork lo mein, and sesame chicken. The prices are great, and the dinner portions are two or three servings. Finding east coast chinese food in our area is not easy. Tried China Chef on a recommendation and food was not bad. The wonton soup was on par as were the egg rolls. Boneless spareribs were not bad either. They missed the mark with beef on a stick by overcooking them. The chicken with cashews and chicken with broccoli both had plenty of chicken and were tasty. I will use them again since the only other place that we know of that has similar east coast chinese food is New China on Higley Rd in Mesa but that is a hike from here. read more

The China Chef has a great location in the Fry's Plaza which makes it convenient to combine trips. We enjoyed the food very much. We tried several of their entrees including Sweet and Sour Shrimp, Beef lo Mein, Pork Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork, Orange Chicken and Beef And String Beans. My wife was pleased to find her favorite Beef Egg fu Yung on China Chef's menu as it is not on the menu of our other favorite Chinese restaurant. We found the shrimp nice and large. We also found all of the entrees were very generous in their portions, which makes it great to share different tastes among our friends. When we lived in southern Illinois we had great Chinese food. Then we moved to Iowa, the only Asian food worth putting in my mouth was Thai and only from certain places. Moved to Arizona and this was the second place we tried, and we finally have Chinese food bliss!!! Sometimes the fried things are a little under stuffed and a little overly greasy. It's just not pleasant. When I was recommended this place by a friend, they actually warned me about the awful phone service but said the food was good, and hoped I would have better luck with ordering than they did but i got the same thing. There aren't many Chinese restaurants in the area and usually this place is just okay. However, after ordering from there this past weekend we won't be back! They forgot to give us our steamed rice with a main entree. Fried rice was bland and the pieces of pork were dry. Egg drop soup smelled and tasted off. The fried wonton for it was greasy with a strange taste. Veggies in the entree were mostly fine except the bamboo shoots smelled rotten. For the price, this place just isn't worth it anymore. We had to wait extra because apparently white meat chicken takes longer to cook than dark meat chicken. The sauce flavors weren't bad but the chicken itself was all stuck together in one giant piece and parts of it seemed like it has been fried multiple times (think of a way over fried French fry). The broccoli was steamed perfectly but the steamed rice was slightly dry and crunchy.
