First let me say China East food is our favorite in the Fort Mill area. It was our go to for delivery for so long. That is until we went in person. The restaurant is sadly in disrepair and was incredibly dirty. A lot of dirt, grease, and grime on the tables, floor, and walls. Ordering I could see it behind the counters and in the kitchen area too. It broke my heart and we have not been back since. If they could do a heavy cleaning tip to tails we'd be back in a heart beat, but this was so overwhelming dirty I could not trust it again read more

I stopped in on a whim and enjoyed my meal. The staff was very friendly, the place was clean and had lots of seating, and my order didn't take too long. I ordered the hibachi shrimp with white rice, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini. The portion was a good amount (especially the shrimp), and my only dislike was the shrimp sauce. Highly disappointed with the poor representation of what they called Chinese food. It was flavorless, seemed like it was water downed as far as flavor and lacked any freshness. China East - Horrible Bourbon Chicken !!! Wrong flavor and poorly executed. - Chinese Near Me - Fort Mill, South Carolina

Starting this with a disclaimer that if you are originally from a bigger city or metro, we are from Fort Lauderdale FL, that your standards are going to be high. This is a small(er) town and I imagine that for a period of time maybe more authentic ingredients maybe weren't available. That being said this is purely constructive criticism and it's intention is for the owners in hopes of building a bigger customer base and supporting local business. Timing- I live 8 minutes away, they said it would be ready in 15. By the time I got there the food was bagged and ready. As this may appear to be a good thing, it usually means the food was made before hand and is simply being warmed up. Which is fine for certain items but definitely not everything. I would have rather waited an extra 10 minutes for better over all quality. Tonight we got crab rangoon, egg rolls, pork fried dumplings, egg drop wonton soup, pork fried rice, bourbon chicken and szechuan beef. Crab Rangoon- someone said it in an earlier review. The filling is great, unfortunately we wish there was more of it. Probably one of the better fillings I've ever had. Egg rolls- hot, crunchy and thick. These were good. Pork fried dumplings- Normally when you think of a pork fried dumpling you think of a moist outside casing, I can't think of what it is at the moment, with pan/wok seared sides. That way you achieve different flavor textures. These dumplings appear to have been thrown into a deep fryer. Egg drop wonton soup-The wife said the soup was very tasty, exactly as expected. Pork fried rice(small)- I believe pork is the cheapest meat you can buy and it's packed with flavor. With that being said, as seen in the photo, there might be two small spoon fulls of pork in the fried rice. I get when a business needs to be frugal with certain things especially when it comes to proteins but this was a bit too frugal and disappointing considering we got this for the kid to eat and it was more or less just a serving of rice. Bourbon chicken- To be blunt, I can't tell if they actually gave me bourbon chicken or something else lol. The sauce tastes nothing like bourbon chicken which very wet and thin. This was the consistency of a sweet/sour sauce or even like duck sauce. The chicken looked and tasted very bland. There was no texture to it at all. When you think of bourbon chicken you think of a wet, coating of a semi-sweet/salty sauce that's seared in a wok and there's bits of crust of it or something. I hate to say it but this was disappointing and I would probably go with something else next time. I ended up throwing the chicken in a hot pan and getting a nice sear on it, but still not the same. Szechaun beef- The wife said it tasted like pre packaged beef with spicy tomatoe sauce poured on top. I've never had this before so I can't really gauge what may have been right or wrong with it. While I was there I did see a few people and in out and obviously they get business but I would LOVE to see that business multiply over time and thrive. If that means taking a look at what's going on in the kitchen, reorganization, or new procedure I just want to see local business expand. As I'm sure if the owners see the review they may be a little upset, it's not my intention to hurt feelings but give helpful feedback. I'm on multiple social food pages in the area and everyone is saying how they are craving a new level of Chinese cuisine in Fort Mill/Indian land and this place could provide it for sure with small changes. read more

Good manners. Good food. We tried this store after having had most of the other Chinese food in the area. The prices are goods for the generous portions you receive. My only note is to request extra sauce for whatever you order if you are used to the "wet" NY Style Chinese food or like to soak your rice as they do go a little light on the sauces. I wanted to like this place more because it's so close to our house, but it wasn't it hit with my family. Our staple Chinese food order is chicken lo mein, beef with broccoli, crab rangoons, beef and chicken on a stick. The crab rangoons had great flavor and weren't too greasy, but they were so thin and had very little filling. The beef and chicken on a stick were just okay....a little on the bland side. The chicken lo mein had a fishy taste to it. I definitely thought it tasted strange. The beef with broccoli was the only thing that was past the "okay" mark. The service was really good when I picked up the food. They were so friendly, which makes me want to give it another try with different items. read more

Started out with one of the longest waits I've experienced for something as simple as bourbon chicken. One of the appeals of Chinese food is the quickness with which the order is normally completed. This wasn't the case here. For the lunch special being only 5.95 (including a drink) it could be a good deal - but only if your time isn't valuable. For me, waiting in excess of 20 minutes and still not having the food yet is a bit much. The food was about as good as you'd expect an unimpressive Chinese food place to be. If you've never had truly good Chinese food an are used to a mall food court, it will probably taste acceptable. 5.95 for a drink, two semi-okay crab Rangoon and a dish is the draw. read more

This is was my first visit to China East. I had the Bourbon Chicken and it was not very good, the meat was too tough with not enough sauce. I wanted something like the places in the mall, but this was not it. I may try something else here next time since the prices are low, portions are good, and it's pretty close. read more

They are always so friendly, they have our food ready very quickly, and they always give us extra food for free! They are very kid friendly and their inside dinning is just as good as their take out. My first visit here and I got the lunch special honey chicken with pork fried rice. This seems to be one of the better Chinese places in Fort Mill in my opinion. The honey chicken did taste more like sweet n sour chicken none the less but it was good. The portion is the same as any of the other Chinese restaurants lunch specials. After my husband got food poisoning at Golden China we had to find a new Chinese restaurant. Our go to is Dragon Express in Rock Hill, but this place is good as well and closer to home. The food was your typical late night Chinese food. Nothing special or anything to rave about, but that's to be expected with to-go spots like this. What WAS different about China East was the service. The young man who answered the phone and was working at the register when I arrived was extremely nice and friendly. Typically, I expect short, quick and blunt "ok" "what do you want" "10 minutes" when ordering but this young man made sure to go beyond that! My absolute favorite chinese restaurant! My family has been picking up food from her for as long as I can remember. The spicy tofu with veggies is my favorite! I've tried other chinese places in fort mill but china east is the best by far. Great service and never a long wait. With covid they are doing pickup only and they're doing so much to ensure the safety of customers and their staff! 100% recommend. read more

Since I moved in Fort Mill I've been looking for something to replace my old favorite local hole in the wall China II near Tega Cay...This place seems to be a similar menu (maybe a franchise), but not all the dishes are exactly the same. I liked the fried rice & dumplings better at China II, but the Kung Pao and Crab rangoon better at China East. I am a bit torn at which is better but I think it is China II by a nose because the dumplings at China East are inferior by far. On the positive China East has the best Kung Pao I've had anywhere in the area (still not as perfect, but the closest I've had to perfect for sure). Another complaint I have with them is that some of their dishes go REALLY skimpy on the meat, while others are fine. I wanted to rate it one star less than China II, but I had to bump them on par just because of the Kung Pao. Overall I like this place and will be ordering my Chinese takeout from here most of the time. Also as someone else mentioned....stay away from the bourbon chicken. It is my least favorite of that dish that I've tried anywhere. read more

Went to this place only cause my favorite place was closed. So i ordered 3 lunch meals they came with drinks. It's like they dont want to give you drinks cause had to ask for my cups. The guy handed me one. With a hand gesture says to get the rest my self. I asked for a chilie sauce they wanted to charge me a $1 . I'm like dude I just bought 3 meals . Then I ask for a drink carrier, hand my hand out in stead of handing it to me puts on the counter. This place sucks. Bad people skills. Never again will I give them any business.
