One Saturday afternoon, I took my mother to lunch at Amazing Wok. The restaurant was nearly empty, although a few people who were picking up to-go orders came and went. It's a small establishment, but very comfortable. The server greeted us right away. After ordering, the food came out in record time. Love that. My mother ordered the shrimp fried rice. It was a nice portion, but she wasn't overly excited about it. She orders it whenever we're having Asian cuisine, but this is one she'd pass on next time. Partially because of the shrimp size. Partially because of the overall appeal. I thought it was fine though. However, we both agreed that the General Chicken was near perfection. She ate plenty of mine, which was fine because there was more than enough. A few broccoli florets would've been the cherry on top, but it was still a tasty dish. Also, the prices were refreshingly gentle on the wallet. It was appetizing lunch in Ballantyne that didn't require a loan. I'll surely return in the future. read more

Our first experience with Amazing Wok was with our neighbors, whose daughter lived nearby and recommended it. We ordered through the daughter and she picked up the order and brought it south. It was lukewarm and OK. We were intrigued, so ordered a take out and that also was OK. Menu has just about anything Amercians would want or at least know about. Look at the menu on Yelp! or on their web page. When I went in to pick up our order the phone was constantly ringing and a regular flow of people streamed in and out of the parking lot. The are busy. Next experience, we decided to dine in, as there is seating, but not a lot of seats. Table service went well, but the take-away rules, so there is a wait to get your particular meals ready for serving. I did like their combination Won Ton and Egg Drop soup. The best of both worlds to me. This time we had separate orders of Won ton soup ($4.50) and Egg Drop soup ($4.50). They both were just fine. Wife had Sa Cha Beef ($14.95), beef and vegetables in a mild brown gravy. She said it was OK. I had their Triple Delight ($20.95), which was three meats with vegetables and to me it was relatively tasteless. We like the Triples at Great Wall South much better. That dine-in meal was our last one for Amazing Wok. It was not bad, just was not to our taste. It is also a distance from Indian Land and remember that take-away is their main thrust, so if we are in the area or have the need for take-away, we would consider Amazing Wok. read more

Super nice people and excellent food. My mother-in-law loves egg drop soup and it's hard to find except at normal mom pop places. Amazing. Wok has fantastic eyedrop soup. She is always pleased when I bring it to her. Their hot and sour soup is equally good. I ordered the twice cooked pork and it was one of the best I've eaten, definitely the best in a long time. This is my go to fast Chinese restaurant, I wish it was closer to me! I order from this place at least once a week on uber eats! My go-to is the chicken and broccoli, it's consistently good! I usually order their house lo mein (without water chestnuts and baby corn), and that always hits the spot. For this week's order I just got chicken and broccoli (pictured below) with 2 egg rolls! Everything was so good and tasted fresh! About a month or two ago I ordered some broccoli and brown sauce on uber eats, they forgot to put the brown sauce on the broccoli so I called, they took my information down and told me that I can come by to get a free broccoli and brown sauce whenever I could which wasn't a problem for me because I eat here so often! I have been coming to Amazing Wok since 2011. I recently moved back down to the area and was so excited to have the best Chinese food back in my backyard! My boyfriend and I were very excited to be able to dine in after the Covid restrictions were lifted! I used to love dining in their restaurant. It is so cozy and clean! I was excited to finally share the experience with him. The staff is fantastic, very sweet, and make you feel like family. I always get the beef chow fun, and I want an egg drop soup. Food was mediocre, I would give the food 3/5. The service was poor. I ordered and paid online, when I got to the restaurant an hour later they didn't even receive my order. Holy Price Gouging!!!! 2 soups and rice for $45!! I know times are hard but, this is ridiculous that they are over charging costumers like this. Not to mention their food is barely average. May be the worse Chinese food I've ever had. Chicken wings were over cooked and dry to the bone. Sesame chicken looked like a 6 piece from McDonald's but McDs is be far better. Did they change owners? We have been ordering from here for years, but tonight we're soooo disappointed :( the dumplings are different, more like gyoza. Not horrible but not what I expected. The egg rolls had virtually nothing in them, didn't taste like anything. Shrimps were so tiny, sesame chicken was simply not good. Everything lacked the quality and taste we're used to. Just moved abd this was the closest takeout Chinese place with more than 3 stars. They are taking lots of COVID precautions but you still have to use their one own to sign a receipt. Do not mind price increases for the same quality given the economy but they have really messed up their model. I occasionally eat in sometimes order out for at least 12 years now. I was in this evening and asked for a water with no ice like always. She brought me a bottled water. I told her I wanted regular water with a straw. She responded that she's alone in the dining room and can't get refill waters. At the time I was the only one in there. I told her to take the bottle back it's OK not because I'm cheap but It's just principle. 2 couples show up while I'm eating and when I leave to pay what do you know they all have an ice water in front of them. Never had even heard of this take out place, It was a Door Dash Delivery which came very quickly. Had a large expensive Order 1. Pan Fried Dumplings 2. 2 Orders Crab Rangoon 3. Fantasy Shrimp 4. Generals Chicken Fried Rice with all the dinners First off there was no sauces or condiments with any of the appetizers. No Napkins or Silverware. The Pan Fried Dumplings were NOT good. in fact they tasted off~ like something was wrong with the meat. and they were fat like small meatballs. The Crab Rangoon was not as pictured, they were triangle shaped items with cream cheese. The Generals Chicken which my husband gets everywhere, was just unseasoned fried pieces of chicken with no spicy sauce at all. The Fantasy Shrimp was the highlight of the order. They were large good fresh tasting shrimp with a small amount of sauce on them and some walnuts . sitting on a bed of steamed broccoli. They were actually the best thing about the order. I almost went somewhere else thinking this place wasn't open - the windows are mirrored and the Open sign was there but it was a sunny day so i couldn't tell it was lit... So I waited and to my relief someone walked out with a bag of food. Ordered a bunch of take out and it was ready very quick. $35 for 3 meals, soup and 2 egg rolls. I visited this establishment for the first time. Due to Covid they are strictly takeout only. They have contactless money and food exchange VIA of a basket bin in the door. Our lunch order was sesame chicken and one teriyaki chicken both came with a choice of spring rolls. I had the veggie my daughter had the spring. The spring roll had shrimp in it. We both ate our rolls without sauce and enjoyed them very much. My daughter typically doesn't eat rolls so I was surprised at how she went on an on about how good hers was. Both of our meals were cooked to order and were fresh. They teriyaki came on skewers which made it easy to snack and drive. I found the service to be great. Late night Christmas meal! I'm glad they are still open on Christmas night and this is awesome! I got the beef with garlic sauce and black pepper chicken. The beef is garlic sauce is the best!
