Went late yesterday afternoon for an early dinner and had an interesting experience. It's a beautiful venue, very classy, very open and inviting. Our server Abby R was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered a trio of appetizers for the table: Szechuan dumplings, wonton chips with crab Rangoon dip, and KFC (Korean fried chicken). The wings were as good as expected, great flavor, piping hot and crunchy. The real surprise was the wonton and Rangoon dip combination. Just a stellar idea, executed spectacularly. The Szechuan dumplings were a little spicy and tasty, but they were just warm, which gave them an oily mouth feel. I got a to-go order of pork fried rice, and I have to say, I could've done without it. Pulled pork just doesn't go with fried rice, flavorwise or texturally. The biggest disappointment about the meal was when I attempted to settle my tab. I walked to the front counter and was confronted by a young woman who snapped, "We don't take money up here!" Thankfully, Abby came out and took my payment, but the first young lady was so offputting, it will be a while before I go back, if ever. It's a nice restaurant abd there is Valet parking (free) which is great because parking at Kingsky is a pain. However, I would earn you about a huge unlnmarked step (except for a painted faded red strip) at the back entrance near the Valet. I did a face plant which could have been serious! I went because I was invited and I'd heard great things. I'm afraid I have to say I wasn't familiar with several of the dishes and I thought the prices were very high. A second trip back to Spice Asian kitchen resulting in a good dinner experience. The second visit required me to try something new. I was going to get this meal the last time so got it this time. It's the Kow Pow. from the walk, you get minced chicken, mushroom, bell pepper, cooked onion, Thai basil, some carrots topped with a fried egg and served on steamed rice. The rice is a white rice that actually came on the side so you could spoon it in as you saw fit. We did order a couple appetizers. The Rangoon crab dip was quite good. You don't get a lot of dip, but you do get a lot of chips. Overall, I thought it was OK. I like spicy, but this had an odd spice taste to it. Staff was still friendly. Place was still clean. I celebrated my birthday at Spice Asian Kitchen on Saturday, May 8th with a reservation for 16 people. I had celebrated there the year before and had such a wonderful experience, so I was really looking forward to returning. Unfortunately, this visit fell very short of our previous experience. The atmosphere upstairs on such a beautiful evening was lovely, and I appreciated being seated there. However, the service throughout the night was extremely disappointing. There appeared to be only two bartenders also handling serving duties, and from the moment we arrived, we felt poorly greeted. Our waitress never introduced herself, offered drink recommendations, or created much of a welcoming experience at all. It took at least 10 minutes just to receive water for the table, and much longer for cocktails. Service felt very disorganized throughout the evening. When food arrived, dishes were essentially auctioned off at the table as though no one knew who had ordered what. One guest in our party didn't even receive her appetizer until after her entrée had already arrived. What made the experience more disappointing was how different it felt from our visit the previous year. At that time, our server was energetic, knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely engaging. He asked what we were celebrating and even brought out a complimentary dessert for the table to share, which made the night feel special and memorable. I understand restaurants can have off nights, especially with large parties, but this experience lacked the level of hospitality and organization we had previously enjoyed and expected. read more

This was my first time trying Spice! I got the Taco Trio with beef, shrimp and chicken. All three were seasoned really well but my favorite was the beef. The tacos came with a delicious sauce that drizzled over the top. The sauce took it to the next level. The service was good and fast. We came on a Sunday around 2pm. We had the spicy tuna crisp and a sushi roll for the appetizer. The crisps were delicious! The sushi roll has good too but I liked the crisps better. I had the Bibimbap bowl. It could have used a sauce drizzled on or in it to make it more flavorful and add a little moisture to it but it was good still. I had leftovers and added some sauce to it at home. The service was great and the place was very clean and had a nice chill aesthetic. I came here after a morning at Carowinds. We were so hungry and this hit the spot. I had pad Thai and I swear it was the best pad Thai I've ever had. We had the crispy tuna crisps and sushi as an appetizer - Both were very good. There was not an appetizer of kimchi and I asked if I could get a side of it and they accommodated that request. I also asked for pickled onions added to my pad Thai. They are very accommodating to extra requests. I was in town for a conference and my hotel was just down the street. Spice Asian Kitchen has a great menu full of delicious choices. I ordered for pick up and then walked to the restaurant and had a drink at the bar while I waited. The people were friendly and my meal was ready much earlier than expected. The food was delicious and just as perfect to-go. I LOVED the Spicy Edamame (don't worry, they have a non-spicy version, too!). There is nothing better than Spicy Edamame, it reminded me of Hawaii! What are they trying to fuse with--McDonald's? The sweet and sour sauce seemed to be in everything. The bao buns were sweet and fried--completely missing the mark. The roti canai had an old lime sourness that was really off-putting. And most of all, why was the Szechuan chicken swimming in sour gravy? To be fair, the service was good, and the atmosphere was nice. If you're coming here for drinks, a salad, and a pleasant ambiance--or if you really love that sweet-and-sour flavor--you might enjoy it. This is the most honest I can get! I see a lot of reviews that rate over 4 stars. We ordered the crab dip and it was a bland cheese sauce with no flavor at all, please consider elevating this dish as it could have the potential to be a great dish. Very flavorless. The main course was the bim bim bowl. The ingredients were all fresh and very appealing to the eye but lacked in flavor. The bulgogi beef did not taste like bulgogi beef at all. Very disappointing. Lots of rice with egg only (no other veggies) except RAW bell peppers. Shrimp were big but no flavor. I would not order again. Fresh as heck! Each item was so well flavored, so tasty, and tasted light/healthy rather than heavy/unhealthy. I know the name may dissuade people that can't handle spicy food, but the food is spiced meaning flavored, rather than spiced meaning spicy. This can (and will) be enjoyed by anyone with zero spice (heat) tolerance. There's a beautiful seating area that can be rented out upstairs, but downstairs is just as nice with high ceilings and candles at the tables (during dinner hours). Parking is available in the shopping center, both regular spots and parallel parking. They also have daily specials so check their menu! I read all the reviews and had mixed reviews so I had to try it for myself. Overall this place is a solid 3 stars. The food was not as good as what I have tasted in other parts of the US. I have lived in Texas and California and based on my experience this was just average. Some of the reviews are correct. The noodles taste more sweet than I'm used to, so I had to ask for some chile spice. Typically the pad Thai comes with peanuts, spice, and limes. ‍ This has none of it. The Tom Kha soup was good, more milky than I'm used to or more of a very white color than I'm used to. The strawberry mint drink was good. The Service I can say was excellent and the gentleman helping me was very attentive and helpful. The ambiance was nice with a potential for a nice view of the pond if you sit by the window or the 2nd floor. read more

What a beautiful spot. I really enjoy the space. It is nicely designed. It is in the middle of a big plaza which means easy parking. The plaza is so nice. The staff was super nice and there wasn't a long wait time to be seated and I love that. The best part. THE FOOD: My favorite thing is the seared scallops. The noodles were perfect. I would good back for that appetizer. It was light and fresh. Perfect blend between the scallops and the noodles. 10/10 The wings: very crispy. I like the sauce. I was very happy. The tuna crispy rice. I really liked the crispy rice portion but I'm not a big fan of the tuna. That is a personal preference. I will say this spot is pretty pricey. I feel like the location and ambience are the only thing good about this place. The food here is mediocre Asian fusion food. We got poke bowl (not pictured), pad kra pao, drunken noodles, spicy tuna crispy rice (not pictured), crab rangoon dip, and dumplings. The only two things that are decent were the crispy rice and dumplings. The other dishes were SUPER sweet and not good. My family and I didn't have the best experience with our waitress either. It took till end of the meal for her to get us a refill of water and she wasn't friendly and helpful at all. Don't think we'll come back here again. read more

My first experience at Spice will be my last. I went there on a busy Saturday night, and got a seat quickly on the rooftop. A server promptly took my order, and someone else brought my order out pretty quickly as well. So far, so good. I wasn't given any utensils to use, so I waited over 10 minutes until the server passed by briefly enough for me to ask for silverware. Several minutes later, the server dropped a spoon and fork on the bare countertop, while hurrying to another table. OK, fine. The silverware was wet, and appeared to have some kind of residue on them. After several more minutes of waiting, another server asked if I needed help, and I stated that my silverware appeared dirty, but at that point, I just wanted something to take my food home in. That server took the silverware, and after several minutes brought me two containers and a bag for me to prep my food. However, that server forgot to bring me any silverware to use to scoop my food into the containers I was given. I had to wait several more minutes for the first server to finally check on me again, and I asked once more for silverware to use just to scoop my food into the containers. Apparently, everyone else was a top priority that night. Eventually, I was able to pack my food to go. It helped that the server who brought me the containers recognized that something was wrong, and politely voided my check as a courtesy. And yes, as silly as it sounds, all I needed was a clean fork to use to eat my food, and it took over 40 mins just to get one. This is what happens when you let kids run your restaurant. read more

My dinner at spice was quite good overall. We sat in the roof top area which has a nice view of the lake. We were served quickly and the food was pretty good overall. My review of the food is as follows: Seared scallops - 4.5/5: scallops were perfectly seared and paired well with the flavored glass noodles underneath. My only complaint was that the noodles really stuck together but they were properly cooked. Spicy tuna rice crisps - 3/5: this is one of my go to dishes at Asian/Japanese restaurant and sadly this one disappointed. The tuna wasn't seasoned well (it needed more heat) and the crispy rice wasn't crispy enough. The rice to tuna ratio was also a bit off Szechuan dumplings - 2.5: this is probably the one dish I wouldn't recommend. The filling for the dumplings was just uninspired. It was basically just chicken. The cook on these was fine but nothing about this dish excited my taste buds Green curry mussels - 3/5 : I really liked the curry sauce. I haven't had mussels with curry before and it was a nice pairing ; however, the mussels didn't taste fresh and/or were over cooked Overall, I enjoyed my meal and learned about G4 tequila (it's amazing, just try it) and the service was quite good. I order from Spice regularly and came in today to place a lunch order. Although there is special lunch pricing listed on the physical menu and online, I was charged normal pricing. Taco trio $15 Spice Fried Rice (veggie) $18 Lunch menu shows $14 for each of these and $13 online. When I pointed it out to the young lady taking my order, her response was the higher pricing was correct and she wasn't sure why the menus have not been updated. I pressed a bit given the advertised prices are different but no concession was made. I will not be patronizing this restaurant for lunch anymore. read more

Came here because I wanted some good cocktails and great apps. Lycee martini is yum l: 5/5 Thai basil mojitos 5/5 were on point. Chicken pad Thai 2/5.. It not up to standard. The chicken was very very dry.. we couldn't finish it. Pork bossom3/5 Its was very salty. I have made this at home before. It's labor intensive. So I guess I can understand it can be salty. Depending on which day you go. The service can be a hit or miss. Most of the time, I sat at the bar. But if they're short handed. It will be awhile before you can get the bartenders attention. The ambiance: 4/5 some days it can be really loud and packed. It's hard to hear and hard to get waiters and anybody's attention. Other times. It's nice normal volume.. and the staffs are attentive. This is a great place to eat with friends, on a date night, or solo. Parking early in the day is easy to find however there is free valet service. The ambiance is chic with a great vibe. You can also sit on the rooftop if you're feelingrisky. I sat at the bar and was served by Shay, the bartender. She was amazing and attentive with my drinks and food.
