China Garden is worth the drive to the mainland. The food is very good and consistent. A reliable Chinese buffet. To be clear, it is not top dog, but worth going out of your way to eat there. Buffet always has shrimp PERFECTLY COOKED every time we go (and we go frequently) It is a working person's buffet so you will dine with construction workers, lawn people, and regular folk. They have the same offerings every day and have perfected making each dish. Must be boring for the chefs but wonderful for the diners. The only thing that needs improvement is the Hot & Sour soup. It lacks some spice and has too much thickener. Egg Foo Young and all the standard Chinese American dishes are done well. Also has To Go containers. The broth for the Won Ton soup is so good and "healing" we use it as our go to cold medicine. The staff rarely smile but are the same ones who are always there, at any hour on any day. They do their job, they just have no joy in doing it. Closed Tuesdays. Kitchen staff work fast to replace food on the buffet. Great hard, hand scoop ice cream. Watermelon is flavorful. Main dishes consistently good. Try it. Price is reasonable. Considering what most restaurants charge now days, the price is EXCELLLENT which is why we can go on our fixed budget and why so many working people eat there. read more

Ordered from them last night. My order was supposed to be spicy. It was bland. And the fried rice was more like yellow rice.

Got C 11. Chicken with Garlic Sauce (Combo Platter). and chicken with black bean sauce combo. A few other things 14. Wonton Egg Drop Soup everything was so salty. And I love salt put that shit on everything. The pork fried rice was pure mush and the soup has 2 wontons ina qt of soup and came lukewarm. Which probably came off leftover Buffet. I tried this restaurant tonight for take out with my family. We ordered onion chicken ( soo delicious/ my fave), lo mein, shrimp and broccoli, beef and broccoli, and shrimp egg foo young. The food was really good, although I did not personally care for the sauce for the shrimp egg foo young. The broccoli was fresh, crunchy, and the shrimp were big and plentiful. The portion sizes were large, and the food was flavorful. The staff was very nice and professional. We were given a complimentary 2 liter soda with our food. read more

Everybody has their favorite, go-to Chinese place and this is mine. They are next to Big Lots in Byrd Plaza where US1 meets Dixon Blvd. I've been going here for over 10 years and plan on coming back for another 10. The family who owns it is very nice and I feel like I've watched their kids grow up because I've been coming for so long. They offer a dine in buffet or full menu take out. Small, hole in the wall place, so initially we were hesitant. However, we were pleasantly surprised! The food was great! The lightly fried shrimp were delicious! The only suggestions that I would make would be to have a few more selections of food and for the waitress to be more attentive with refilling drinks. You have got to be kidding me! The worst excuse for a "Chinese buffet" ever! Cold dried out food on arrival at 5pm. Was replenished with 6 or 7 shrimp dishes (made with old freezer burnt shrimp)another5 dishes contain mushroom...good if you like em. Told waitress food was cold..she laughed and never returned. I have always had good food there until today. I ordered broccoli and beef, my friend ordered pork with cashew. It was not fresh. Did not taste fresh. I was so disappointed. I have no idea who in their right state of mind would rate this restaurant more than one star. I'd rate it less if it would allow it. My mom suggested we eat at this establishment. I even mentioned I had eaten here about 10 years ago and wasn't happy with my experience. But hey, that was a long time ago. PLENTY of time for improvement. Boy was I totally wrong. We've been incredibly busy all day and basically starving. Almost every single pan of food was just about empty and cold. Not even warm, but cold. Which we didn't realize until my mom, myself and my son all had a plate full of whatever they did have. It wasn't until more customers came in that they brought fresh food out. So of course, instead of eating our cold plates of food, we went to get fresh and hot food. Although hot, mostly everything had a gross taste to it. I just decided it was a lost cause and was done at that point. We couldn't even have a conversation without the short haired woman constantly walking by staring at us. Which we knew she was staring at the food uneaten at the table. My mom went to pay our $40 bill, yes $40 for 2 adults and 1 child, and I stepped outside with my young son. The guy working the register had the audacity to tell my mom that the short haired woman told us to not come to their restaurant and waste food next time. To which my mom proceeded to let them know there wouldn't be a next time. That their food was absolutely disgusting, cold and over priced. This place is a great find. A family owns the restaurant who are pretty nice and provide great food. The food that is offered is always the same so you never have to guess what they're serving. MY friend and I have been trying to find a chinese buffet in our area. We saw these reviews and thought YES! I ended up not being able to go but my friend went yesterday 12-12-16 for lunch and boy was she disappointed! She got there around 3:40 pm and there was hardly any food, what there was was either cold or old and she ended up eating mostly sweet and sour chicken, which she said was about edible. It smelled like seafood in the restaurant and she said there were mostly shrimp dishes. But they were old and yucky looking. Dinner doesnt start until 4:30 but she was charged the dinner price and she got home by 4:30. NOT HAPPY and I will not be trying this place. Bummed since we cant find a good buffet! Came in around 8:30 at night. Wasn't thrilled with what was on the buffet so we ordered off the menu. The host told us,that late he could make more for the buffet (that closed at 9), but he suggested ordering off the menu. Oh WOW! Fantastic food! Hot, quick and made not spicy for me. I ordered garlic chicken & hubby ordered beef with vegetables. Egg rolls are great, not greasy. We took home enough for another meal. We will return! read more
