The pork chop was nicely flavored and tender. There was some minced pork with gravy over the rice which was perfect. We loved the pickled veggies in the bento also and the soy sauce egg. I highly recommend trying their bento box options when you're here. Plus, I noticed they had lunch specials too. Will have to try next next for lunch. We also had the Taiwanese sticky rice, popcorn chicken, plum sweet potato fries and oyster omelette. All were very good. Personally, I would skip the trendy croissant cubes because they're not as good as they look. It's usually more bread than filling and I've had the same experience with other places too. When it comes to service, I've always had good experiences at Bakery 1908 and I really like how they have a self-ordering kiosk for dishes and drinks if you'd rather skip ordering at the counter. I think the cakes are a little bit more expensive than the buns because of extra craftsmanship but it's completely worth it. For me, the biggest downside to Bakery 1908 is the location. Mills has always been a busy area and it can be hard to leave the parking lot. But otherwise it's completely worth the visit and a lot more accessible than other restaurants there. But I got seated about 5-10 mins upon arrival. So when looked at the menu, they had 3 dishes that were Michelin guide recommendations. So I was curious and had to order the wonton soup and since I love Peking duck, I ordered the buns. Here's my assessment: 1. Pork and shrimp wonton soup - 15/10 - the soup was pretty neutrally flavored but still good to my liking but oh boy, the wonton was out of this world!! It came with 6 large wontons, some bokchoy, seaweed and the broth. I always ask for chili oil and when I took a bite of the wonton, the sudden burst of deliciousness that I felt in my mouth was indescribable. Then I dipped the wonton in the chili oil and it added another layer of umami flavor. This is prolly my Top 2 wonton soup I've had in my life next to the one I've tried in Hongkong years ago!! Every wonton I ate the more I just want to eat more wontons . It's INCREDIBLE. 2. Pan fried Peking duck buns - 20/10 - this should be a Michelin star dish!! The bun was a little sweet, soft but that first bite felt like all my salivary juices just exploded. This is the BEST BAO BUN I've had in America. The most perfect combination of sweet, savory, salty, with a touch of five spice and a gastronomically out of bounds dish - It's UNBELIEVABLE!! I quite like this method since you don't have to think about the various ingredients to order. The serving size is good for ~$18 a pot, and comes with a good selection of ingredients. You can add more ingredients for additional cost, to further customize it. The presentation is beautiful- the hotpot is served on this beautiful "platter" with room for a heated flame to keep your pot warm as you eat. Individual hot pots are also more hygienic! I tried the healthy veggie pot- delicious and tasty soup! I enjoyed my meal. My parents enjoyed the kimchi hot pot and beef noodle soup as well. There is also a good selection of appetizers.
