China Garden you should be ashamed of the lack of quality that you provide for the fine people of Dover. The lunch special that I purchased here was horrible and inedible. I worry that you are making my friends and neighbors ill with your lack of respect for food preparation and simple dignity and or care for your customers. How it is that you stay in business is a marvel to me and not even the most optimistic fortune cookie could reveal such an unbelievable amount of luck which sustains your Health Code Inspection Certificate.

My extreme displeasure with China Garden is a direct result of me not using my better inner judgement. I have yet to find a decent American style Chinese take out joint in my area of NJ. China Garden falls right in line in a series of expected disappointments. It's on Rt 46 in Dover in a tiny strip mall. For a take out place, it seemed of average cleanliness. This means, it's a sloppy grease pit.I placed my order, paid and was told " 10 minutes". As I waited, a family of 5 entered and placed their order. 8 minutes later, they walk out with their arms full of their order. I patiently assumed that my order would be out in only another minute. A total of 25 minutes went by until I was summoned for my meal. It was so pleasant waiting there. I truly had nothing else to do so, why not sit for almost a half hour. I took my $17.00 bag and drove home. So, sesame chicken and fried dumplings. Some of the "sauce" from the chicken had leaked out so, I opened this first and cleaned it up. This was more like sesame chicken soup. The chicken was drowning in the sauce. The sauce's flavor was unique, not in a good way. I haven't mentioned the sesame seeds because there were none! Industrial grade dumplings with a boring, run of the mill flavor made for me putting $17 in the garbage. Next time I get this craving, I'm going to McDonald's!

STAY AWAY!!!! I am not the type of person to ever write a review. However, because of how awful this food was I felt obligated to write a review. This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life. I ordered sesame chicken that turned out to be sesame chicken skin. There was not any meat, it was just crispy tough thin pieces of skin that were deep fried. I also ordered Mongolian beef and the beef was gray and the onions were wet and slimy. For an appetizer I ordered boneless spareribs. They were tasteless, dry and burned. The only thing palatable was the white rice.

I ordered shrimp with broccoli and the sauce is like gelatin.... wet weird

I've ordered takeout from here before and it was average(3 out of 5). The food doesn't take long to get delivered which is great. The most I've waited was 35 mins. The issue today was the food quality. The Shrimp and broccoli looked very peculiar. The Shrimp and Broccoli came inside a gelatin type of concoction. I've never seen any such- dare I say- sauce. It looked more like some type of adhesive. The 'sauce' stretched as it was being taken out for further examination. I ended up tossing the food in the trash. I hate throwing away food and my money. I didn't know why it looked the way it did. So, I didn't want to take any chances. On a brighter note my order did come with chopsticks as requested and a generous amount of soy sauce.

Very spacious for a Chinese take out place. No frying/ kitchen smell in the waiting area.

The food is really good and the people are nice. I got the tofu in garlic sauce and it's the best takeout I've ever gotten.

When the food came after almost an hour, most of the order was wrong and the one thing that was right tasted nasty.

But it is also tasty, has online ordering that you can do before the commute, and gets the basics right. The service is also friendly and unforced. The general manager, Mason, noticed that my mother and I had not ordered drinks, so he presented us with water cups once we motioned towards the dine-in tables. They are happy to take orders verbally, but there's also a kiosk for punching in your order. (I always prefer verbal; my job has enough apps in it for a day!) My go-to is the chicken breast teriyaki with veggies and white rice. The char on the chicken breast is so delicious!

The staff was friendly at the counter, but they also have a self-serve kiosk next to the front counter if you prefer that option. I ordered the Chicken Katsu bowl for takeout. The food was a bit pricey for the portion. Next time I'll try it as dine-in to see if there is any difference. Overall it was ok, will try again.

We stopped in here a little early for dinner, right around 5pm, and the mall and the restaurant were pretty empty. It was hard to get a feel for how the restaurant might feel when full, but the lights were low (not dark) and it seemed like it could get loud when packed. We were seated right away by a very friendly hostess and the bartender/waitress was over pretty quickly. She came over and made a couple excellent recommendations for drinks and we put in an order for pork dumplings. She came back over and we then placed our entree orders. I had the Mongolian Trio and my wife ordered the Orange chicken. The pork dumplings were great. Our drinks were great. The entrees were a mix. My wife loved her orange chicken - it was tender and had lots of flavor. My meal - fried chicken, shrimp, and beef was cooked a bit too long which made it a bit tough and the sauce was pretty salty. Because of previous meals years ago and because my wife's meal was very good, I'm gonna go with this was just a bad day with my meal and leave it at that. Our server was FANTASTIC - super friendly and helpful and we had a very good experience other than my entree. I'll go back and give them another shot.

But my black pepper chicken was a highlight entree. Usually served breaded, this chicken had crunch and crisp seemingly directly on top of the protein, with a good ratio of crisp in each bite. We waited like 3-4 minutes to be seated, which wouldn't be worth mentioning except that there was no line. And the bench-style seats are ridiculous: not supportive and too low relative to the table. I wish we'd tried the chaired tables or one of the booths.
