Ordered chicken in garlic sauce for lunch, got something orange as sweet as soda. I was hungry, so I put a pack of hot sauce on it and ate it. Bland, sweet, forgettable. No way I'll go back. In the Christmas Eve tradition my wife and I decided to have Chinese food take out. Our favorite restaurant was overwhelmed so in the interest of time we chose New Hong Kong. This was our third experience with New Hong Kong. Their food is OK, run of the mill at best. But not worth the risk of injury due to inattention to detail. You can be assured this will be our last as I almost broke a tooth biting down on what I first thought was glass, but turned out to be some kind of metal staple (see picture). Better than ever!!! Do yourself a favor and order the General Tso's combo! I've been ordering from New Hong Kong for over 20 years and I've always loved it. But after a slight dip in quality a few year ago (plus inconvenience of not having credit card machines) I stopped ordering from them. Well after 2-3 years of no patronage, I decided to give them another try a few weeks ago and WOW!!!!!! I was AMAZED by how good it was. The chicken is perfectly cooked and crispy and the flavor is a drool-inducing mix between sweet and spicy. Dip a piece of chicken in the pork fried rice and you are in for a treat my friend. Lastly, the much needed addition of the Square credit card device makes paying for your order a breeze and the delivery guy is always very friendly and helpful. I felt obliged to write a review for chinese food restaurant i have been ordering from since high school. This place was formerly Number 1 hong kong or at least they tell me that. Here are some important points from this place 1 the food is always the same quality. I like it, you probably will too. If you don't you just might not like chinese food. 2 For the past 12 years it has always been 15 minutes for pick up 45 minutes for deliver. No matter if i order the minimum or 15 combination dinners, I have always had the option for pick up in 15 minutes or deliver in 45. They obviously employ psychics. 3 They always give you a free soda. Like a 2 liter coke (might be one of those 1.5L) Which is an added perk. 4 "Crab cheese" is crab rangoon. They could have updated the menu, but i have an old one. 5 Their catering trays are not a bad idea to feed 6-8 people. Get some rice too unless you don't need rice. A chef friend of mine recommended this place. The folks at the counter were very friendly. The food was very good. The shrimp fried rice had de-veined shrimp. Not very greasy. Definitely one of the better chinese take out spots in the area. read more

Always easy to order and simple fast delivery...bfs family has been ordering from here for years I enjoy the vegetable soup and the vegetarian eggrolls and my boyfriend likes many of the different dishes including the beef sticks out of the pu pu platter, chicken with broccoli and more! Tried the beef & broccoli in garlic sauce lunch special. It tasted great. Nice reduction on the sauce too. Also tried the singapore mi fun. Great stuff. Now for the negative things. There was a giant barrel of msg sitting right there as you look into the cooking area (they are currently using the barrel for a chair!) I usually try to avoid it. Also they really need to do a thorough cleaning of this place. Especially the floors in the cooking areas. It looks like food is being swept into all the corners & instead of being removed & areas sanitized. So great food but the restaurant is lacking in cleanliness. I hope they clean the place up so I can feel more confident about occasionally eating here! read more

Their food is good and better than some in this region. A neighbor suggested them and we liked their take out. However, we thought we'd try eating in the restaurant one weekend in December. The aquarium was magnificent. Beautiful tropical fish. While the fish tank was heated, it seems the dining room wasn't. We kept our coats on. The room was empty and that was probably why. We asked if they could turn it up and the very nice waitress said she had tried but to no avail. You can see in our photo my wife wanting to warm her hands around the super hot tea mugs. We had to ask for sugar, not on the table. The food was great. Shrimp egg fu yung and General Tso chicken. The dumplings were good too. The cold room sapped the heat from the food so we had to eat it quicker than we'd prefer before it got cold. We will wait till Spring to try again. Went back in the spring with my wife and we had a wonderful meal there, and the temperature was perfect. Service is very attentive and kind. The food hot and delicious! read more

We went here for lunch. The ratings were fairly high for this type of restaurant and they did not disappoint. We had garlic chicken and orange chicken. Both were done very well. We will be back. I avoid more chinese restaurants as they usually cut corners unless you are in Europe bur this place does it right. Very nice staff here too. read more

Hands down, the best wonton soup I've ever had. We usually order delivery, but I was passing by, so I decided to pick it up myself...I was shocked at how clean & beautifully decorated the restaurant was! Really nice ambiance...I may have to eat-in real soon. We've only ordered from them a few times so far, but I really think New Hong Kong will be my new "go-to" for our Chinese food needs. We've tried a few dishes & so far, everyone has been pleased. The General Tso's was excellent...not cloyingly sweet (as is usually the case). My daughter is a fan of the lo mein. I have eaten here twice -- and was very impressed with the food. It is quite delicious -- and I love the presentation of it, especially the large portions you are given. My only complaint is the unfriendly staff. I have yet to see any of them welcome a customer with a friendly smile. If you can overlook that, the delicious Chinese food makes up for it. This is the best fast food/delivery Chinese Restaurant in NJ, but also nice to dine-in. I love that the hostess is multilingual (English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese) and very friendly. The vegetable fried brown rice is a delicious compliment to the sweet and spicy General Tso's Chicken. They serve some of the best sweet plantains I've ever had (a Latin American dish reflective of the Latino/a community in Dover NJ). read more

My name is Erico Sosa , Today 01/14/2015 at 4:05 PM I decided to go and eat out, this New Hong Kong rest had good reviews so I went in to eat, right away I asked the register lady for a egg dropped soup and what was the difference between the small and the big size, the lady gave a nasty look and told me one is big and the other small, I told her is just for me what does she recommend ? she again said one is big the other small, after insisting she showed me the large container and then she said the small is half the size, so i order the small for myself only, in the middle of the meal I went and asked the lady for 1 soup noodle please and she told me "is $0.45 Cents" I only had $0.43 cents and told the register "am short $0.02 cents" May I have it for $0.43 Cents Please, the register in a very nasty way said it again" you don't have $0.45 cents you can not get it!! " i was mind blown, I was only short $0.02 CENTS ????? and she could not give it to me, so i just turn around and went back to eat what was left of my soup !!!!!!!. right there that's when I draw a line, and decided to leave and will never come back, the register lady was the oriental female , I would like to say the food might be good but when you have such a horrible individual at the register that treats people like that it does not even give us the chance to taste the food, I do understand about prizes but for $0.02 Cents short for an additional soup noodles so i can finish my meal and a soda that I did purchase, it does not make sense ???, may be she is the owner and that's how she runs her business!! but come on we are here in America and for $ 0.02 cents to loose a regular customer ?? , you lost me and my family as regular customers and my brother , sister , mom dad and all my family that normally buy from you,, we alway tip 20 % when we eat there , it was only today that I was short in cash and wanted to eat soup while i waited for my ride.
