Was in the mood for Chinese food and was our first time visiting TGI restaurant. The young lady at counter had difficulty taking my order. The food was not made to order, totally disregarded my request. The interior is small as it has only a couple small tables and the front counter. I'm at a loss for words as I write this sad review. I can't believe what just occurred.. I have been ordering from China King for over 8 years. As of late nothing but issues.. so I called at 6:40 pm 25 min delivery time was given. I call back 56 mins later the women said my order is out for delivery. Now it over an hour and 45 mins when I call again and again to inquire about my order ( which I placed over the phone personally) now going on 2 hrs only to be hung up on. I called back once again asked for a manager and was placed on hold for over 18 mins. When I finally spoke to Ann the manager, she had ZERO explanation as to my order where it was or if it was even made or out for delivery. SERIOUSLY???? I give Ann and China King a 1 rating. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.. I will now try the Asian Express in Flanders. I hear the food is delicious.. ILL KEEP YA ALL POSTED.. Ann this is the third time .. three strike rule. One of my All Time Favorite Yelpers invited me to lunch here. And just for the record, I don't Ever refuse a free lunch, and I sure as Hell don't Ever refuse Angie The Asian Mafiosa! She's the one who told me about this place and as usual, Angie was right. This place serves up some Really Great Chinese Food. For starters we both ordered the Wanton Soup. So warming and comforting on a really cold day, very appropriate and very delicious. I find that when dining with other Yelpers, especially Angie, it's always interesting and insightful to share thoughts about the app and discuss things only other Yelpers can understand. She's what I call an "Old School Yelper" who can relate to me the way that the app used to be and how it's evolved through the years in retrospect. This is one of my favorite topics being discussed with by one of my favorite friends over some of my favorite foods. I knew today was gonna be an Excellent Day. As we talked, the rest of our lunch order arrived and She went with the Shrimp in Garlic Sauce with White Rice. And I ordered the Pepper Steak and Onions alongside White Rice. My lunch was Stellar and I realized that this is Quality Chinese Food that had nice flavorful slices of Beef, plenty of Peppers and Onions with almost no amount of grease that you find at some other local restaurants that serve this same style of Chinese Food. I ordered roast pork fried rice with the hope of actually having some pork in it but instead it had what looked like scraps of pork . Come on really if I'm paying what I paid I expect not only pork but some other ingredients also like onions something. This place is your generic Chinese food restaurant. They offer take out as well as dine in options. The food came out pretty fast, I'd say about 10 minutes if you're ordering from the lunch special menu. Good lunch special prices though! I ordered their chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice and a hot and sour soup for about $7! The place was fairly clean. They take credit cards, didn't seem like there was a minimum, which is a plus. read more

This used to be our go-to place, we ordered at least once a week and the food was delicious- and consistent! But for the past few months, we've ordered the same things that we have ordered in the past - and things are so spicy we can't taste the food, just hot pepper. Even when I ask for "not spicy". Even the dumpling sauce, which is usually sweet, is now spicy - a completely different taste! When I asked about it, I was told that they switched to a new kind of pepper. I asked if they were going to ever go back to the old one and the guy didn't know. So we've decided not to go here anymore. I ordered my meal and everything was so spicy we couldn't eat it. When I called to let the restaurant know this I was told I ordered spicy and therefore it was my problem. They could have acknowledged that the kitchen staff might've been a little heavy handed with the red pepper but instead told me it was my problem. Just moved to the area from Toms River so far this is the best but I haven't tried any other place other than yung lung which their portions are way too small for what they charge. I had the chicken and garlic sauce which is my goto item, and I have to say it's spot on with flavor and heat which normally other restaurants don't make it spicy. 2 thumbs up for now until they fuck up my order read more

My family and I have had multiple issues with them not delivering all food from orders, and then instead of helping, they give me the run around and tell me they don't have an order with my number (while I'm staring at the receipt that has my number on it lol). This is the second time I've stopped here while out and about. I've ordered the same thing both times - vegetable fried rice. Both times, it has come out quickly and without any problems. I've had better and I've had worse. How can I base a review on only having had one dish? Well, because I can. If a restaurant can't make the simplest of dishes properly, that doesn't bode well for more complex orders. On the sliding scale I use to judge Chinese takeout restaurants, China King falls pretty squarely in the middle. The first time I stopped here, I ate my rice in the dining area. This is a strip mall takeout restaurant, so the seating space is limited and I doubt it's used very often. The part of the dining room closest to the front was filled with cases of sodas, water, and other assorted drinks - kind of a catch-all for their excess inventory. The rest of the space had tables, chairs, and not much of anything else. As far as atmosphere, there was none. However, it didn't bother me since I was literally just there to inhale my food. My second time in was for takeout, so I didn't get to hang out with the cases of drinks. Both times, my order came out promptly even though they were in the middle of the lunch rush. As far as the rice itself, it was decent. There were plenty of vegetables, however items like broccoli and celery were cut in larger pieces that I would like. For eat-in, it was fine but it was a problem when trying to eat it on the go - I only grabbed a spoon so had difficulty getting the large pieces of broccoli out without making a mess all over myself. The flavor was good. I don't like my food heavily salted, so others may want to add some soy sauce. The rice was a little more oily than what I make at home, but not nearly as much as other takeout places I've tried. What it comes down to is this: I can't rate China King on the same scale I would rate, say, Delmonico's - it would be completely unfair. However, when pitted against other Chinese takeout restaurants I've tried in the area, it's OK. Based on how busy they are, I'm not the only one who thinks their food will do in a pinch. You could do better, but you could definitely do much, much worse. read more

It was ok... we only order in once a week so we want it to be perfect. Bad news: The dumplings were doughy and chewy, we actually threw them out. The general tso's tofu needs to be fried more and crispy. The fried rice was mediocre. We thought it was some lazy cooking on some of the dishes. The good news: the broccoli in brown sauce was really good. The broccoli was cooked perfect. Really loved the cold noodles in sesame sauce. The beef sticks were delicious but a little fatty. Overall 2 1/2-3 stars sums it up. read more

Avoid this place at any cost. They often forget your food and argue to make the order right. They then said they would deliver the missing item and then charged for the delivery. We will never order from this place again. If I could leave a 0 star that is too generous. read more

The restaurant started out as just a small take out restaurant; now you can sit down and have a meal in a nice and open dining room. Stopped by for lunch the other day and ordered the hot and sour soup.... The place is filthy. The window on the door was smeared and had finger prints on it... Not very inviting. But I did not let that deter me. Pictures of their dishes on a overhead signs were covered in grease. Some actually had palm prints on them. I guess they were from the people behind the counter reaching up.The floors were dirtand looked like they had not seen a broom or been scrubbed for a long, long time. The soup was less than good. All it had in it was a couple of mushrooms, cut in half, one piece of seaweed, I think . On the positive side there was plenty of tofu in it. In Roxbury there are several chinese places and all of them are better and cleaner. Their pricese are average for the area. There are better choices. That was my last visit to China King read more

Tonight had Shrimp with Chinese veg's and I was amazed at the size and number of the shrimp. I was compelled to write this review! Have been going to China King exclusively for past 4+ years, after repeatedly getting disappointed by the other take-outs in the area (been living here 20+ years). Always delighted with the flavor and generous amounts of proteins - beef, shrimp, chicken, etc.; good variety of perfectly cooked veg's; and containers are always jam-packed full (unlike the other local establishments). My kids always like the Beef Chow Fun and it is very reminiscent of the same, that my Dad used to bring home from NYC Chinatown, when I was an ABC (American Born Chinese) kid growing up in NY. read more

Floors are dirty from foot prints of people walking in and out, I can tell they don't keep the dining area so clean because most of the orders we viewed were take out. I can tell their space in this strip mall is very limited so they store side in the north end of the dining room. Very friendly service. My wonton soup was amazing, pork lo mein was good as well it isn't greasy like other chiense spots Ive been too, and my boyfriends general chicken was good as well... We used to order from them all the time, the food was decent but not consistent. Last time I ordered from them I ordered chicken wings, which was my standard order and it came covered in feathers that had been fried with the chicken. Needless to say, I sent it back and had them redeliver. Sometimes the food was cooked perfectly, other times you could tell it was sitting around. We frequently order delivery from our office at work and they are quick and the portions are huge. $5.50 for a huge selection of dishes, also gets you rice and either a soup or egg roll. I usually get the shrimp with mixed vegetables lunch special and unlike some other Chinese restaurants they actually give you a good amount of shrimp, and they are huge!
