Listen, I was on a mission for some good Chinese food, and this visit ended up being a mixed bag. The sesame chicken was probably the best thing we ordered. Good flavor, tender chicken, and a nice-sized portion. The service was friendly, and pickup was smooth. Now for the not-so-great part. The lemon pepper wings were seasoned well, but they were a little too salty for me. The pork egg rolls just weren't hitting. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there was a flavor in them that neither my husband nor I enjoyed. I couldn't finish mine, which is rare because I love a good egg roll. The fried rice was okay, but nothing memorable. Maybe I ordered the wrong things because the sesame chicken showed they can make a good dish. Would I rush back? Probably not. Would I completely write them off? Not necessarily. If I return, it'll be to try something different. I'm still searching for that bomb Chinese food spot that makes you immediately start planning your next order before you've even finished eating the first one. read more

High time for me to update my pandemic era review of this place. To be fully honest, this is still kind of our backup option for Chinese takeout on nights where our other favorite joint is really busy (IYKYK), or maybe because it's just me ordering for myself, or any number of reasons like convenience to the Food Lion in the same shopping center. They are fast and friendly here, and their prices have stayed lower than most Chinese takeout in the area. If you're looking for standards like orange or general tso's chicken, lo mein, crab rangoon, various fried rices, beef and broccoli, etc. you'll likely be pretty happy. Their soups aren't quite as flavorful as our other place, and the egg rolls also cannot compare either. Those couple of nitpicky things being said, we do still like this place and would recommend it to those in Jamestown looking for good Chinese takeout. read more

My husband's orange chicken was WAY over cooked so it was dry, and he couldn't even get a fork into a piece because they were so hard. My bourbon chicken was just okay. The egg rolls were good. I ordered egg fo young and hot and sour soup. I will never go there again. Along with the slices of pork was pieces of fat and an organ from an animal. The egg foo young patties were burned. The little gem of Jamestown! While China Garden looks and feels like your average Chinese hole in the wall take out place. What really stands out and makes this place special is the food itself. Not only is it affordable, which speaks volumes in today but also good portion sizes. I ordered some steamed dumplings and had to do a double take, as at first I thought some debris got into the sauce. However, after closer inspection and looking it over with my friends. It wasn't that it was debris/garage but in fact that they make their OWN SAUCE. It had green onions and sesame seeds in it and it was a absolutely delightful. I've always wanted to try this place, so figured since I was out and about shopping small business Saturday, I'd it. 2 stars for the girl working behind the counter, she was friendly and helpful. 0 stars for the food itself. Rice is extremely dry, and not really sure what the flavoring is on the chicken, but it's not a flavor I've ever tasted when eating General Tso's. I've gone to this location a total of 3 times now. I have NEVER had a problem before, until today. I ordered boneless spareribs with onion fried rice, not plain rice which was what was being given to me. Then when I stated I said onion fried rice, the lady at the front told me I didn't. I stated again, that I did and she began going back and forth. I'm not going anywhere to argue nor am I someone who's gonna give someone a hard time, but when I'm paying for food, I'd like for it to be what I ordered. A simple apology and fix by changing the rice would've gone a long way and could've avoided the rudeness from the one running the front at the time. At the end, my rice was changed but given to me in a rudely manner. Very unprofessional and they should definitely look into who they hire to run the front. My wife were in search of bone in spare ribs which our regular restaurant doesn't have. So someone suggested China Garden in Jamestown. I ordered bone in spare ribs which our, pork omen and chicken chow mien. It was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The ribs tasted like that had regular bbq sauce on them. They gave me the breast bone of the spare ribs which is mostly bone. The chow mien in the can is better than theirs. No taste and the lo mein was not good. Small portions. Never again. read more

We really enjoy the general tsos chicken and the orange chicken. We decided to branch out and try the bourbon chicken, wonton soup, and Mongolian beef. The bourbon chicken was served in strips of chicken thighs but had quite a bit of large cuts of onions. The flavor of the chicken was good. The wonton soup was a dark yellow color and tasted extremely watered down. The Mongolian beef was terrible. There was barely any beef in the serving, instead there was a massive amount of onions. We have been here maybe five times prior to this experience and never had an issue with the food, but we ordered the same thing each time. We will most likely return for our usual orders and avoid trying anything else from the menu after this experience. read more

My fave Chinese spot in the Triad always has a long wait and sometime you just don't want to wait too long. If you know, you know. China Garden however is in my backyard and has pretty good reviews so I made my way today. Indecisive as usual, I eventually made my selection. The cashier didn't offer much assistance, but was patient so that's was good. I ordered fried shrimp and house fried rice, general tsos combo (egg roll and pork fried rice), hot and sour soup and shrimp egg roll. This was my first time visiting China Garden, and I did so at the recommendation of a friend. I've always had trouble finding good Chinese food in the area since moving here, but this was fantastic. I ordered three combinations, all came with white or pork fried rice, a good portion of meat and an egg roll. China Garden is standard Americanized Chinese takeout done right. While the menu offers no surprises, it does present plenty of options (vegetarian dishes, health-conscious offerings, combos with fried rice and egg rolls, etc.). Moreover, execution is consistent across the board. At its worst, Chinese takeout is greasy, bland, and chewy with homogenous flavors. Not here. The crab rangoons were crispy and cheesy, the hot and sour soup balanced flavors nicely, and while the beef and garlic sauce was vegetable-heavy, at least the vegetables tasted fresh. Many of the offerings run under $8, making it easy to fill up cheaply, and online ordering makes for easy pick-up. China Garden likely won't give you a chance to try anything you haven't already had before, but if you have a craving for dumplings, noodles, or rice, it won't let you down. read more

China Garden literally has the best Chinese food in all of North Carolina. Literally. It's sooooo good, and even better the next night for leftovers. They are super quick with orders and did I mention the food is so good!!!?!!!!! Even with the underwhelming outside and ambiance I highly recommend. Hidden gem in Jamestown! Ordered a shrimp eggroll, crab rangoon appetizer, small beef & broccoli w/white rice, and small cashew chicken w/white rice. Was a little concerned on sizes, but don't let those small containers fool you--it provided for an ample serving size--overfilling a large dinner plate! If you have a heartier appetite or would like leftovers, suggest ordering large container sizes. Eggroll had several pieces of shrimp; crab rangoon was flavorful, filling is a bit drier vs creamy; beef was tender, broccoli crisp.; chicken was tender, full of veggies and cashews. They also offer combinations w/entree, rice, and eggroll--would've selected this option on online ordering, but didn't realize it was an option... noted for next time. Also, for 7pm on a weeknight, they were extremely busy w/customers and phone orders. BBQ ribs were good, sweet &sour chicken was good. Love the cheese wontons! I'd give 3.5 stars overall. The main reason I bumped it up to 4 is because the workers were AMAZING and the girl working the front was very clearly stressed and overworked, answering the phone, taking orders in person &phone, running to get the orders in the bag, etc.. She had a great attitude though and kept track of everyone's order & made sure it was all in there before people left. I didn't catch her name but she deserves 5 stars just for that. We ordered on Dec 1st around 5:30pm and it was super busy. The main reason for not 5 stars is the rice. The rice is as if they use ready made rice because it's kind of hard. It's not very good. Let me preface this by saying I rarely give a negative review, hopefully this was a bad day or mistake; and I've ate Mongolian beef from Asian eateries from Alaska to key west but this was an onion and veggie mix , there were scraps or should I say bits of what appeared to be beef but not even strips . Ordered take out...this is a standard Chinese menu, but l have had better. I got the beef and broccoli combo plate with pork fried rice and an egg roll. The egg roll was much smaller than expected and had almost no filling. It was obviously one that had been cooked ahead and then sat in the grease...not properly drained. The "pork" fried rice had nothing but brown-colored rice...not one piece of pork...not one shred of any vegetable at all (onion, carrot, peas, etc.). Since their prices are the same as other area Chinese restaurants, l expected this to be on par with them. It was not. read more

Also, when we ordered the first time, we received complimentary crab rangoons and Chinese doughnuts - and they did not disappoint!
