I've been coming to this place for years, but never thought to review it. Their food is really great, and their attitude toward their customers is really above par as well. They are very friendly and accommodating. I normally go in to pick up my order that I called in and that's what I did the other evening when I realized that I hadn't reviewed this wonderful place. It is a very small place. There are no sitdown tables. It's mostly all kitchen and a front counter to either take your order or pay for same. There is a bottled beverage machine in the lobby area to pick up something to drink. The China House is nestled into a small shopping center off of Jonestown Road. If you live in the area it is very convenient and they're open on Mondays. There's one other place called China wok close by as well but it is not open on Monday so China House is my go to when that happens and I'm craving my Asian food. Both places serve yummy food. This evening it was close to their closing time at 10pm and I placed an order around 20 minutes before closing and they reminded me they were closing at 10pm and so I hopped in the car after ordering and got there 10 minutes before closing and the person at the counter told me they would've stayed open even if I hadn't gotten there quite in time to accommodate me which I really appreciated! They are happy to help their customers. The man at the counter was so nice with a great big smile on his face and it brightened up my evening! They had my order ready when I got there and asked me if I wanted sauces with it, threw a bunch of sauces in my bag and I was on my way! Quick and easy! I highly recommend this place as our food is always good but it's not a dine in place it's takeout only. You can pick up a takeout menu if you're stopping by or going in to pick up your next meal. read more

Something has changed here in the last four months or so, maybe in ownership, but most decidedly in the kitchen. The last few times I've had take out from here, it has been much less tasty, differently processed, assembled, and sauced, than what I'd experienced for several years. In May, I tried their Singapore Chow Mei Fun, and it was very good, as good as the best I've had in the Triad. The next three visits were, at best, disappointing! The dishes I tried after that were Shrimp Lo Mein, Pepper Steak with Onions (twice), Mongolian Beef, Chicken Wings with Pork Fried Rice, and Shrimp in Curry Sauce. All of these are dishes I had before, at least once, most more often. Only the Shrimp with Lo Mein was above average, none of the other dishes rose to the level of quality I'd received here before, in fact all were very ordinary. And the Fried Rice which was loaded with cubes of pork, had little to none. I hate this has happened because I do very much enjoy certain Chinese American dishes. There are several others around - Mr Lu's, Great China, and East China - but none are as close, nor were they quite at quality level I previously saw here. read more

I can't speak to the ambiance present at China House, for my experience was related to a recent DoorDash order. That's not something I do often, by the way, but the circumstances necessitated that someone bring me food. And in this case, it worked out really well. China House was listed on the DD app as one of the fastest options available, which played a major part in my choosing them. And the order was indeed filled quickly, not to mention correctly. I kept things simple: roast pork lo mein and a shrimp roll. Both were plenty warm when they arrived. The shrimp roll had a nice golden brown color on its outer layer, and its contents were delicious. I was perhaps even more impressed by the lo mein dish, an immense quantity of food inside that plastic tray and lid. The tastes and temperatures were spot-on, and the entire order was satisfying to my tastes. That plastic fork they supplied was lilliputian though, and I didn't trust it against the weight of the noodles, so I supplied my own cutlery for the meal. Really though, my delivered order was a surprisingly strong showing from China House (and the DoorDash driver too). I'd eat there again. read more

Wanted to try this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Ordered bean curd with vegetables, Crab Rangoon, chicken wings, and a large shrimp fried rice. The bean curd with vegetables was delicious and the portion was huge! The sauce was great and not overly done. The Crab Rangoon were crispy and full of flavor, the sack was full of them! The shrimp fried rice was absolutely delicious. The large shrimp were perfectly tender and there were more shrimp than any restaurant we have been to. I did ask for them not to add peas and carrots to the fried rice. The rice was full of flavor and the wings crispy. They were friendly and this will be a favorite restaurant. Our go to for late night Chinese food fix! Exactly what you would expect for take out Chinese. I like the wonton soup, hot and sour soup, and crab wontons. My husband likes the chicken and broccoli. Always good egg-rolls. I love that I can place an order online and pick it up on the way home! Prices are reasonable. read more

I got take-out from China House yesterday for lunch. The lunch special was very affordable: soup, rice, and an entree for like $4.50. I got the egg drop soup to start. It was flavorful and hot (temperature) even by the time I got home. The wonton noodles that accompanied it were good. I threw an egg roll into the meal as well. It was standard fair. Sesame Chicken was my entree choice. Even for a "lunch" portion there was plenty. The sauce was slightly different from what I'm used to but it was still a thick sauce with a good combination of spicy and sweet. My trip to pick up my food was the main downside of the experience. The woman who took my order wasn't especially friendly. Additionally, I did not get the best impression of the overall cleanliness of the place. I mean, I still ate the food so it obviously didn't impact me that much. My lunch was good and I will definitely get take-out/delivery from China House again in the future because of it's proximity to my home. read more

China House has been our favorite for years! Even after we moved to Yadkin County, I will make the trip to Jonestown Road because no one can top the China House quality or consistency. If you follow the directions below, you will enjoy China House. 1) Call ahead of time and order takeout. There are no tables here and this is NOT a place to take your gal on a date. 2) Order the Beef and Broccoli. Do not order the Chicken Lo Mein. Do not order something else because it sounds cool. Order the Beef and Broccoli. 3) Have it with white rice. Not fried rice. White rice. 4) Go with the egg roll. It's not special, but the delicious crunchy exterior complements the beef and broccoli well. 5) If you have a "spork", use it, otherwise, just use a fork. Do not try to be "authentic" and use chopsticks. I have deviated from this formula in the past and I have not been happy. read more

Idk what these other reviewers are talking about but I enjoyed this place. They seemed friendly to me and I ordered the general tso chicken combo with the crab Rangoon and loved it all. The crab Rangoon was perfect. Not many places can make it how I like it and they were not stingy with the meat niether. I will be a repeat costumer here for now on. I think these other reviewers were looking for a sit down family restaurant or something like that. It's not that type of place it's just for take out and delivery. read more

I haven't had many, close to any problems with this place. I'll call in an order or walk in and place and order and it's done in a reasonable time. They tend to rush a little when on the phone but I don't fault them for it. Food is good nevertheless. read more

Just got my food delivered. Was a little hesitant to order due to poor reviews. I was hungry,and I work late so I gave in. SO glad I did!!!! They arrived in less than 30minutes,food was hot and very fresh! I ordered sesame chicken,crab Rangoon, spring roll and egg roll. It was under 20 bucks, enough for me and my son today and tomorrow! I want to say first that I was never actually able to order food, so my review is limited only to customer service. I was really excited to find a Chinese takeout place with vegetarian options, and called today for lunch delivery, using the menu available on urbanspoon. Vegetable spring roll- fine. Eggplant with garlic sauce-- not fine. The guy on the phone asked me what it was, and I repeated it, and the subsection of the menu it was listed under, and he began yelling at me that he didn't know what it was. He asked what number the item was, and there was none listed, so I told him I didn't know, and that it was not on the menu. I told him I was looking at the urban spoon website, and he asked several times if it was online. I said yes, and explained that I didn't know anything more than what was on the menu. He continued yelling at me, saying I must have called China (?) and that I was talking to China House. I checked the address and name again on the site and confirmed with him, and he said that was right. I told him (again) that this was the listing I was using, and the menu was included with the phone number I dialed. After getting yelled at again about calling the wrong place, I gave up. The food can't be good enough to be worth an argument over whether I dialed China or China House. read more

This place is horrible. The food is only sub par. I have had way better chinese food from WalMart. They never get our order right, this is the third time I have tried to give them a break. It is past ten and they forgot one of my order items....the ONLY item I ordered that my fiance was going to eat. I noticed they left it out....AGAIN something gone wrong with this place. I will NEVER order from here again and if you are craving Asian quizine....go to WalMart. Make the extra trip somewhere else. read more
