When you go through the doors, the place looks beyond stunning, and the staff is great. However that is where it ends. This is not my normal spot for Chinese, (due to at the time my normal "go to" was not open for the day), so i wanted to give a try and see if it would be the same or even better. What i did not expect or even think of, was the food being worse. The flavor, being the very most important thing in food, was nonexistent. As I ate the food, I was disappointed to say the least. Not only was the food bland, but it was dumped with too much sauce, or it was too little. Leaving yourself to be either overwhelmed, or underwhelmed. The food was pricier compared to my go to spot with the same amount of food. Absolutely disappointed in the quality. This place used to be the best around Phenix city! New ownership or something because now it just sucks!!! The older Asian guy is gone back home, his son is gone too! I just ordered orange chicken and sesame chicken. Both looked exactly the same except for the sauces! Can't say it's the best I've had but it's the best around Phenix City! I have gotten the General Tao's chicken, beef and broccoli and schechuan chicken. All were delicious! I also get vegetable chow mein which is sometimes really greasy but still tasty. I've never actually eaten in the restaurant but always get Door Dash and have it delivered. They always include enough rice (although we never eat it) and a sh*t ton of sauces! read more

I don't know what it was, but it was not general tso's chicken...didn't even taste like chicken and had almost like a very gross flavored soup poured on top. The rice was half hard still and all the veggies on our drenched sweet & sour chicken were still frozen and raw. We knew we were in trouble when my husband asked about a specific dish and the server said, "it's not that bad." My son ordered the mushu pork and his veggies were from a frozen bag. We know this because some of the peas were still frozen. Our pork dumplings were served with no ponzu sauce and we were told to dip them in soy sauce. The steamed rice was also from a bag and the egg in it was so dehydrated, it was hard to discern exactly what it was. There was only one person waiting tables and handling the phones, etc. and she was doing her best but the phones didn't get answered. On the plus sided the beef and broccoli my kids ordered looked and tasted good, like it had actually been made in the kitchen. I sure hope things improve. read more

Doesn't look like much, like a hole in the wall and believe me it lives up to its looks. They didn't have half of what I wanted and most Chinese places all sell the same thing but they did not. So. I named off items I thought they might have that I knew my kids would eat. I normally pay about $38 - $40 bucks for my order and it was $56 this time. I almost fainted. I thought well maybe it will be worth it. WRONG- it was awful. I ordered chicken fried rice and received little pieces of fried chicken in gummy white rice. I also ordered curry beef and fried rice and received beef without curry and gummy white rice that broke the cheap plastic fork they gave me to eat with when trying to mix it together. I also ordered Mongolian beef with fried rice and received beef and broccoli with chow mein noodles. Live and learn. Expensive lesson. Will never go back. read more

So I will have to admit this place was not of my choice but am I sure glad my uncle decided to eat here. I come from California to visit my mother side of the family. My uncle eats here on a regular basis and after tasting the food I see why. We were a really big group... Just alone my family that traveled were 6 people and then an additional 5 people. My uncle made a reservation of 11 for 6 o'clock. Now us out of townees wanted to be tourist and see around Georgia so we headed up to ATL and definitely did not make it back in time for the reservation. We showed up around 7. The staffed welcomed us with smiles and sat us with our remaining party who was already done with their food. Some restaurants would be upset with us for this but there was no issue. The server came right away with menus, water and asked for our drink orders. Food was out soon after placing our order which is great because we were starving since we only ate breakfast that day. I went with the General TSU's Chicken and chow mein. I tried some of my mother's Mongolain Beef that was packed up; which was super tasty. The portions are nice and could be easily shared between two people. All the food I tasted was music to my taste buds. After we devoured our food we stuck around to talk with the family a little bit longer before heading out. Again we were not rushed in any kind of way. I would of kind of consider this place being a hole in the wall but that is where the best food and service is provided. Not sure what the ending price tag was since my uncle took care of the bill but whatever the price was I'm sure it was all worth every penny. I will be back when I come back in town. My go to place after church on Sunday. Unfortunately, the quality has gone so far down hill it's hard to pinpoint the problem. I always get Hunan Shrimp, always. So if something is different you would know. Shrimp was a lot smaller, hardly any juice, kinda dry. Taste keeps getting more and more bland. Probably need to find a new " go to place ". Very disappointed. Order Kung Pao Shrimp. Normally it's enough for two of us. This time there was about 2/3 of the normal amount. I did not request it extra hot but there were over 50 pieces of the spicy red peppers in the dish. Also, one of the shrimp was not cleaned as it still had the vein. Also ordered crab Rangoon and egg rolls which were bland. Don't waste your time or money as it's not the same restaurant as it was before. Very sad. read more

This is hands down my favorite Chinese food in the area. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and have never been disappointed with the food quality. The hot and sour soup was delicious!!!, very fast service, only waited like 5 min for our meal, the waitress kept the drinks full, the hot tea was wonderful, General Soas chicken was not to spicy, just perfect, the prices were really cheap and it came with a lot of food! We always order pretty much the same thing, but there is always a huge variation in flavor, amount of sauce and meat, and overall quality. Sometimes my shredded beef & garlic sauce is spicy, sometimes bland; sometimes it's mostly sauce, sometimes completely dry. There needs to be more consistency between cooks. Nonetheless, it's still the best option for Chinese in the area. When they get it right, it's amazing. I'll take a chance on their variability before I ever eat at the other local spot again. Crab Rangoon isn't the best here, and it's the one item I'd go elsewhere for. read more

Normally great...today horrible. It was the waitress. Not service industry customer friendly. I ordered one thing got another and even if the miscommunication was my mistake, hers was arguing in front of other customers and causing a scene. She was rude before I even ordered, then when my dish arrived she could tell something was wrong. I told her it wasn't what I ordered. She said "well you can go see the owner and she can tell me." I dont think so. I got up and spoke to the owner and left. I will not go back. Too many other choices like Lemongrass, Chef Lee's, Wausbi or Thai Thai. I have been going to this place for 6+ years and have always enjoyed it. The service is always fast and friendly and I got to know the owner from my frequent visits. My last two visits have been less than desirable. About a month ago I decided to order almond chicken instead of my usual Mongolian beef. The chicken was undercooked and fatty with some grissle pieces in it. So I complained (for the first time) and the owner approached me dismissively, avoiding eye contact while I voiced my concerns, then said something in his native tongue to the server. It was removed from my ticket but I didn't have a dinner and felt awkward about how he handled it. (I was full from the soup which is delicious so I wasn't too upset about losing the entree). My most recent visit takes place at lunch. I take one of my textbooks because I know this to be a quiet place where I can get some reading done whilst I dine. Nope. About ten minutes after I got comfortable the owner starts a conversation with another employee in which he is loud and seems agitated with her. It was again in his native tongue so I don't know what was said but by her (the employee's) body language and his tone and gestures - it was aggressive. I noticed other patrons distracted by this conversation as well which made me feel validated. In the meantime, my food arrived. I added my hot oil, took a few bites and noticed a couple of hairs in my food. I removed them and placed one to the side. My check came and I placed a hair on the check tray to carry to the register. By this time I had given up on reading so I went to pay. Upon being asked if everything was okay I expressed my frustration with the loud conversation. The woman expressed that she was actually his wife (a new development). This didn't help matters, in my opinion. I showed him one of the hairs I found and he told me not to worry about paying. What a wonderful surprise! Best Chinese food I have had in years. Prices very reasonable. Service was top notch as well. Try the steamed pot stickers.
