I had not been to China Grill for years. I ordered sesame chicken lunch. Chicken was very tough, very hard to chew and ruined that part of my meal. After a few bites....garbage. * Chicken has always been questionable. Ham fried rice great. Egg roll- mushy nasty- first and only bite. No flavor. EGG's rolls used to be very great. i love this place. i've been eating here since 1998 and i m never disappointed and never had a bad experience! my friend and i always start with hot and sour soup and egg drop soup. so freaking good and flavorful!! we share cream cheese won yons; the best in the land! i always finish with the ginormous chicken and cashew salad which feeds me for two days. arch always gets the veggies stir fry with chicken or tofu, no broccoli! we absolutely adore the owner snd the other people here. this place is clean and nice!!! prices are so reasonable! please support them and help them remain in business another 30 years! read more

We had passed by this restaurant s-o many times! But few months ago we went to try them out for the first time, and since then been there couple of time :) We tried almost half of the menu items already. Everything tasted good (taste wise I would give them 4 stars) but not a big fan of their pho though. Its a small but very neat & clean restaurant. Looks family owned (I might be wrong though). All the staff are very nice. I really like the amount of food I get for the price I pay for each items. I've always liked China Grill. Their sauces are clean, light, and flavorful. I usually get the Kung Pao chicken, but lately I've been on a Broccoli Beef jag so I ordered some to go. First bite, got an involuntary OMG from me. It was so freakin' good. The beef was plentiful and tender. The broccoli was crisp enough to snap - cooked just right. The sauce...oh baby, the sauce!!! They have a frequent diner program that I've never taken part in, but after today's meal, I see myself going there several times a week and filling up the card in no time. The veggies are never too soft or firm, they're just right, and the chicken is on-point. The flavor is consistently great. Whenever I drive through the food always comes out well packed and organized, and it stays hot for a long time. The dining atmosphere is casual and the servers are attentive and friendly. The food is always excellent, I've never encountered a dish I disliked and recently found a new favorite after the lemon chicken--their mapo tofu is to die for and this is coming from a person who never liked it until I had it at China Grill; it's a dish with soft tofu pieces, small veggies, and filled to the brim with a complex brown sauce that has subtle, sweet notes and a lovely balance of savory-ness. Next time I go there I'm getting my hands on some chow mein or trying out their yang chow fried rice if my usuals don't tempt me first! As for the ambience, it's a comfortable setting with minimal decor save for bamboo-patterned wallpaper and photos of traditional Chinese paintings in engraved mahogany frames; it's relaxed, simple, and feels bright and welcoming especially since the windows allow quite a bit of natural lighting. Found out about this place from the owner of Potstickers plus 1 as his partner either works or owns this restaurant. They have a great Americanized Chinese food selection. The lady that served us so super friendly and allowed us to customize our food to leave out the heavy oils on the fried rice and stir-fried items, to make it a bit healthier. The sweet and sour pork had nothing healthy about it and had a nice tomato based non traditional sauce on the side. We loved the chicken asparagus, walnut shrimp, wonton soup, beef flat noodles, stir-fried veggies with tofu, and Yang chow fried rice. For sure will come back and next time will bring my mom and older brother as they just love Americanized Chinese food and we enjoyed it as well. read more

The food is super average. First time eating there ever, we have passed by a lot. We got the orange and kung pow chicken, and there was a weird casing around the chicken, like a really bad fast food type of chicken. The chicken low Main was pretty good. And the girls working at the front were super nice and friendly. It didn't taste fresh unfortunately. read more

The food and service have deteriorated overvrecent years. Our family has been eating here for around 28 years. The food used to be excellent, however, quality has dropped drastically. Very hard and dry pork. With all the competition, I would spend elswhere. Service has gone down hill as well. Tonight, for the first time in my life, a 16 yo kid that works here rudely kicked us out because we were 15 min after closing! My elderly father was taking a long time to put his coat on so we could leave because he has health issues. Due to his lack of dexterity, the 16 yo felt it necessary to criticize us for lingering too long past closing. I was mortified for my father and so insulted. I was a loyal customer for years. Tipped them 35 to 50 percent all through Covid and beyond. Then they got one drive-through order wrong, and expected me to pay for it after I got home. I drove back to ask them to make it right. They would not. They wanted me to return the wrong dish. I had left it at home in my kitchen. This business has no customer respect or loyalty. We came here through the pandemic, loved the backwards drive up, tipped well, but you guys have got to list when an item has peanuts. Not cool at all. I have never had to wait for a table. I don't have any complaints about the service. The one thing that stands out about this restaurant are the portion sizes and the prices. I got a dinner combination which was my choice of entree with ham fried rice and choice of side - I chose dumplings. I thought it was delicious! This is not the best Chinese restaurant in Utah, but for the area of Holladay it's probably pretty close to being the best. My favorite part about this restaurant is that they have a drive thru. A drive thru for a Chinese restaurant is pretty cool!!! The food is made fresh every time, so expect a good 15 to 20 minutes wait. We faithfully order the B family combo that feeds a family of 4, for under $20.00. It's comes with pork, both white and ham fried rice, lo mien noodles, egg drop soup and egg rolls. Everything is great minus the egg rolls. Maybe next time I'll try something different, but until then I recommend combo B! Tip: Call your order in a head of time.
