    Chinese chive pockets
    Kevin B.

The ambiance was nice! The cleanliness, light wood colors, and decor really sold the classic Chinese restaurant vibe. Also the neon lights embedded in the foresty wall, broke the monotony of the brown, wooden tables and chairs. My girlfriend and I ordered the dan dan noodles, beef soup dumplings, bok choy & shiitake mushrooms pan-fried buns, chinese chive pockets, and pork & cabbage steamed dumplings. The dan dan noodles had good flavor, made of spaghetti-like noodles with ground beef and chives. The bok choy, shiitake mushroom buns were my girlfriend's favorite, because of vegetables in it. The chinese chive pockets were filled with egg and chives, good, but small and pricey. The beef soup dumplings were my favorite, full of flavor and soup, just be careful when pulling them from their dish, they can stick and tear, leaking the soup. The pork and cabbage steamed dumplings were also enjoyable, at a decent price. They pair well with soy sauce or the vinegar provided at the table. Overall, the food and ambiance were solid. I would order the soup dumplings, steamed dumplings and dan dan noodles again.

You know the feeling when you pull up to a spot in a strip mall and immediately wonder, Is this actually going to be good? I'm happy to report the answer here is yes. And because it's in a strip mall, it has plenty of parking since it shares a lot with Smiths. The restaurant is bright, clean, welcoming, and the service was friendly from the moment we walked in. The menu has plenty of options, but we decided to focus on the dumplings and noodles. We started with the soup dumplings. They were good, but this might be a me problem. I always want soup dumplings to be better than they end up being, and I inevitably break them open and lose all the broth before I can enjoy them. If you're a soup dumpling expert, you'll probably have a better experience than I did. The real star of the appetizers was the pan-fried pork dumplings. They had the perfect crispy exterior while still being tender and juicy inside. Add a little dumpling sauce and chili oil, and they become downright addictive. For my main dish, I ordered the beef noodle soup, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The broth had great flavor without being overly spicy, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the beef was incredibly tender. It was comforting, satisfying, and filling without feeling heavy. This is one of those places that proves you shouldn't judge a restaurant by its location. If you're looking for delicious dumplings and a bowl of noodle soup that hits the spot, this place is worth the visit. I can't wait to go back and try the Chinese food and I also didn't realize they have several locations and there's actually one even closer to me in the downtown area so I'll be going there as well.

Very delicious cuisine! Excellent portions and fresh and quick preparation. So many choices on the menu so I played it safe. I wasn't disappointed! Tender beef and crispy vegetables. Dumplings were good sized and stuffed appropriately. Clean restaurant, fairly busy for lunch. I'll definitely be visiting again.

Noodle and Dumpling has an authentic Chinese taste. The Xiao Long Bao are freshly made and not from frozen pre packaged. I would say they stay true to their name and the best dishes are the noodles and dumplings in comparison to other menu offerings. Service is standard and value is good on some dishes and okay on others. If you're craving an authentic, consistent taste for XLB, this is a good spot to come. For me, it doesn't hit the 5 star as it wasn't best in class for me. I would come back again though when I have the XLB cravings

I've been seeing so many videos about this place so had to try it out! I we ordered the beef chow mein, beef pan-fried buns, general tso's chicken with fried rice, and wontons with chili. My top favorites were the beef buns & wontons with chili! The general tso's chicken was just too spicy for my liking and I felt like the chow mein noodles were thin but both are just personal preference! Everything had great flavor! The inside of the restaurant was bright and vibrant with neon signs! There was plenty of seating options as well. We ordered to-go and it was ready at the exact time they told us to pick it up.

Stopped by Noodle & Dumpling and had the pork dumplings, egg rolls, and a Thai tea. The pork dumplings were great--soft wrappers with a juicy filling and lots of flavor. They came out hot and fresh, and the broth inside the dumplings made them especially satisfying. The egg rolls were super good! Crispy and golden with a nice crunch, and the sweet chili sauce paired really well with them. I also grabbed a Thai tea, which was sweet, smooth, and a good balance to the savory food. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out pretty quickly. The staff were welcoming and everything felt well organized. The inside is casual and clean with a simple, modern setup. There are condiments at the table so you can customize your dumplings, which is a nice touch. Overall a really solid spot for dumplings and quick comfort food. I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu.

Drop your expectations right now Sliced noodles with tomato sauce taste like spaghetti-o's with celery. Soup dumplings tore open before they even got to our table and left all their soupy goodness in the basket they came in. And also my heart. The good part was the fried pork buns but who has ever messed those up. They say it's made to order but the food was just warm, not burning hot. I came in here wanting to burn my mouth on a soup dumpling and unfortunately not so. Made to order is hard to believe. Mid fr I miss you din tai fung this meal left me emotionally starving

    "Chinese" Oxtail Pho
    Wallace W.

I'm upping my review rating for Noodle and Dumpling just a bit based on a great bowl of Chinese Pho with oxtail the other day. Delicious broth and tasty toppings. The serving size was quite large and it tasted more Vietnamese than Chinese. And it's rare to find oxtail as a choice of meat in most pho places around SLC. The team who cooks and serve the food at N&D are quite consistently on top of their game.

    Chocolate dumplings were really rich.

We really enjoyed our meal here! The service was really slow, but the one man show of an employee was a rockstar! He greeted us, sat us down, took our order, served us, took our payment, and then gave us stickers at the end. The food was so tasty. We really enjoyed the soup dumplings, the green beans, the sliced noodles with tomato, duck, and wontons. I will say the food was slightly cold and I think it would have been even tastier had it been warm. The chocolate dumpling needed some sort of light sauce for dipping and was a lil rich on its own. The prices were quite reasonable. I will definitely be back.

My new favorite spot for noodles and dumplings! I tried a few different dishes, and every single one was phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and seriously satisfying. Definitely coming back for more.

Brought my out of town visitor's to try this spot. When we arrived that evening there were only 2 other parties seated. No one greeted us so we were unsure if we should seat ourselves or wait. My guest saw a sign at the P.O.S. machine that stated "wait here to be seated." A server came out from the back kitchen and saw us. He finished serving the other diners and then seated us. We got our order in and shortly afterwards it began to get busy with more diners. Upon observing there was only one waiter. He started to get overwhelmed and the customer service began to decline. We were very patient as we knew it wasn't his fault. He was host, server, food runner, busboy, cashier. All on his own. He did the best he could. All with a smile on his face! My soup was very delicious. A flavorful broth, tender beef, and perfectly cooked rice noodles. The dumplings were good, not the best I've had, but good. I would like to try more food items on this menu, but I don't think I would go out of my way to return. Especially if the service takes as long as it did on this visit. I hope they hire more staff to keep up with their popularity. They have great potential.

Great flavors & a fun atmosphere! We decided to try Noodle & Dumpling today. I'll start by saying that the staffing was very light, making for somewhat slow service. Despite this, the service we received was friendly and the one gentleman covering all the tables was working incredibly hard. The restaurant itself isn't very large. I'd say there were about a dozen tables at most. The decor is very bright and cute. The food was delicious. Great flavors and a great menu. Our soup dumplings were a bit overcooked making them very very flimsy. Other than that, everything else we ordered was fantastic. The portions were generous and the prices were fair. Don't skip out on the chocolate dumplings for dessert! Looking forward to giving them another try as they navigate staffing.

Clockwise from top right: Beef soup, bok choy & shiitake pan-fried, cha sui bao (bbq pork), beef & onion.

This is fast becoming a bit of a favourite for dumplings in the city, and I think part of it is the easy to get to locale, but the majority is it's just a tasty spot for a dumpling fix. We ordered the beef soup, pan-fried bok choy and shiitake dumplings, and the pork and cabbage steamed buns, along with the cheese chive pockets. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

For starters, we ordered the Wor Wonton Soup. The broth was rich and hearty. The shrimps were large and plentiful. All the vegetables blended in with the flavors. I just wish the beef was a little more tender. A little marinade in baking soda would fix this. We ordered some chicken lettuce wraps. This has minced chicken, celery, bamboo shoots, and carrots. These are good by themselves but are best with hoisin sauce. I just wish the lettuce leaves were bigger. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was also good. The sauce had a nice blend of mayo, honey and lemon. It had a little too much breading for me but still tasted good. For $16.99, I wished there was a bit more shrimp. One thing I really appreciate - they GLAZE the walnuts! This is one of the few places that I actually like the sauce and they glaze the walnuts! The Crispy Beef is definitely my favorite. In fact, I think this is better than the one I get from Red Maple. It was not too sweet and had just the right amount of heat. Again, I really wish they would marinate the beef in baking soda to soften it up. The last dish we ordered was the Garlic Chicken. The server forgot to put the order in for this dish and there was a rush to get it out to us. They forgot to put garlic in this dish so wee sent it back. It was perfect when it came back. This tastes like mom's kitchen if mom had a high flamed gas stove. The dishes that benefited from that smoky hot wok flavor had it. I was so excited to eat I forgot to take pics of all the dishes at the table. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Disappointing Experience - Food Quality & Service…read more I've been to Mi La Cai Noodle House before, but unfortunately, my most recent experience was very disappointing. I ordered the wonton soup, and the pork wontons did not taste right to me. I let the gentleman who was helping us know about the issue, and he told me, "Let me see with my manager what I can do for you." To be clear, I wasn't asking them to take the soup off my bill or give me anything for free. I simply wanted to see if they could provide a little more meat so I could finish my bowl. I thought that was a reasonable request, especially since I had already explained that the pork wontons didn't taste right. Unfortunately, the gentleman never came back to our table, and the manager never stopped by or spoke with us at all. We ended up paying the full bill, and no one even apologized or offered any kind of resolution. When the host later asked how everything was, I explained that the wonton soup wasn't as good as I expected. She simply said, "Oh, sorry." While I understand that mistakes happen, it felt like a very dismissive response, especially after we had already brought the issue to their attention. I honestly feel like the food quality at this restaurant has gone downhill. What disappointed me even more was the lack of customer service and follow-through. If a customer takes the time to politely bring up an issue, I would expect someone from management to at least come to the table and address it. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be coming back. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously because I used to have a much better impression of the food and service.
