I went on a Saturday, looking for some sesame chicken. Unfortunately, they are lunch special only runs Monday through Friday, so I had to get a regular sesame chicken and then because I wanted the fried rice instead of the steamed rice I had to pay an extra six dollars for that. So it would've hopefully been a $10 meal ended up being a $20 meal. Unfortunately, their sesame chicken is unlike any other place's sesame chicken I've had. Instead of a chicken that could perhaps be interchanged with orange chicken or General Tsaos, what you get is the your basic deep fried chicken pieces and then on the side is maybe a dipping sauce? Maybe you're supposed to point over? I can imagine their "honey sesame chicken" is a great differentiator menu piece, but it wasn't at all what I was looking for. And the fried rice was just OK - pretty run of the mill, and definitely not worth having to spend an additional $6 to get it. Word to the wise, if you want a typical, deep fried and sticky sesame chicken, order the orange chicken and just imagine the sesame seeds on it. We always order takeout Chinese on Uber Eats from Red Corner. Something I love is their attention to detail with packing to/go orders. They use reusable heavy duty plastic containers. They wrap them tightly in plastic wrap so nothing leaks. The food could get to us 20-30 minutes after it was packaged and it is still piping hot. This is good standard Americanized Chinese food. We've ordered everything from black bean chicken to Mongolian Beef to Moo Goo Gai Pan to Chow Mein to Orange Chicken, and it all beats your standard Panda quality by a bit. read more

Overall, it was a very good experience. It was a weeknight and there were about 4-5 tables seated and a steady stream of takeout order pick ups. Wonderful ambiance. Friendly staff. So much food..... so much and good too. We ordered egg rolls for an appetizer. Wonderful. We then had the dinner for 2. Two huge plates for our entrees. I ordered from this restaurant through Door Dash. I ordered beef chow fun and Beijing beef. The delivery bag was very ; felt like a bag of gold. I tried the Beijing beef first and never got to the Chow Fun! The beef of the Beijing beef was very tender and the bell peppers and white onion were fresh and the sauce delicious. The steamed white rice was warm and fluffy. Combined with the beef I was hooked. Waited 40mins for 4 dishes. Four group after me got served before me. No idea why treat me differently.

For starters, I do appreciate that they are open past 8 on a Sunday night. The environment is awesome - it is exactly what you would want from a Chinese diner, filled with red walls and eastern decor. The customer service was also great and all of the workers were super nice and attentive. I ordered the sesame chicken, and the server mentioned it was honey sesame chicken when I ordered. I wish that was specified on the menu because I probably would have "locked in" on something else. The meat was just too sweet for me, but it actually tasted better the next day. My partner ordered the General Tso and that was unlike any I had previously had. I am used to a more sweet and/or spicy flavor. This specific one seemed to have a mustard base, which threw me off. It was not bad, but just not exactly what I had expected. Rice came with both entrees and I was only able to finish about half of the protein (huge portions!) and had plenty of leftovers. The upcharge for fried rice or noodles was kind of expensive ($6), but the entrees themselves were fairly priced at just $12. I would definitely come back. read more

Visiting SLC for work and looking for a good Sichuan place. Red Corner China Diner popped-up so thought I'd give it a try... Twice cooked pork - consistent with other places I've had it. Recommend. Basically boiled beef and fish in Sichuan chili sauce - a little bland in my opinion. Lots of beef, fish and veggies - just would like more flavor! Crispy spicy chicken - good! I've had this in the past at several places - what I was surprised is it did not have the chilies cut up and fried where you can pop's in your mouth. EDIT: We got another order from Red Corner and this time I ordered off the more traditional menu. I got Cumin Lamb. I absolutely loved this dish. The flavor and the spice was essentially perfect. The meat was done exceptionally well. I would not hesitate to have this dish any time. I'm glad that I had a chance to try something else on their menu and I'd encourage anyone reading this to order off their traditional menu if you don't particularly like breaded items soaked in a cloying sweet syrup. It seemed like they had some items that were not the standard Americanized Chinese food so I was excited to give them a try. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Szechuan Style. I should have paid more attention to the sauce description as being sweet and spicy. That's my mistake. The sauce was much sweeter than it was spicy. I really couldn't get past the sweetness. We got some free wontons and soda for the size of our order. I tried the wontons, which is not something I would ever order, and they were just fine, like all the other fried cream cheese wontons you can get anywhere. I feel bad that I didn't order the thing that I may have enjoyed, but based on what I did have I don't think I'm going to take another shot trying anything else. I wasn't feeling too crazy but I knew I wanted something! I was scrolling around & saw this place on DoorDash, so I gave it a shot! Suuuuper good! I like to stay on the safe side when I order from a restaurant for the first time, especially if I'm ordering through a third party so I got the orange chicken and the chili oil wontons. The chili oil wontons were fantastic! They had a good kick that i personally feel everyone could enjoy(even those who can't handle super spicy chili oil). The orange chicken was great! It still had good crunch. It's not a sweeter orange chicken though, so if that's your vibe, this isn't the choice for you(which is totally okay). All in all, I'll definitely have to stop in next time I'm near. The chili oil wontons will keep me as a customer as I explore more on the menu :) read more

One star!!!! One of my biggest disappointments in a restaurant. I looked on Yelp to find a dine in Chinese Restaurant and found this one. The pictures looked inviting. Pictures did not look like the food or even taste half way decent. I hate to say this, but a good sign to an authentic Chinese restaurant are Asians eating at the restaurant! We spent a lot of money here ordering everything on the menu with the hope that SOMETHING would taste good. They couldn't even get a basic sweet and sour dish right. One thing that irks me the most, when a chow mein dish says crispy noodles and the put LA CHOY noodles on top. This restaurant is not even worth taking pictures or wasting my time writing a review. Let me start by saying that the Red Corner China Diner or RCCD is a hidden Gem! The location was very easy to find and there was a lot of parking available. Once I entered the restaurant, I heard Mariah Carey playing in the background and the song that was playing was All I Want for Christmas Is You! I was like that's an interesting selection for MAY! Then I realized that they must not have changed their music cause the Christmas jams were playing back-to-back. I checked into yelp and a free appetizer appeared on my phone. I was like MERRY CHRISTMAS BABY! and thank you for the gift. We ordered the Cream Cheese Wontons for our appetizer, and they were mouthwatering. The sauce that you get to dip the Wontons in made the Cream Cheese just blend, making the Wontons very tasty. Made the anticipation for the dinner meals hard to wait! For dinner my lady ordered the Combination Plate with Sweet and Sour Chicken, with a side of Lo Mein, and it came with a choice of soup, and she went with the egg drop soup. I ordered the Beef Fried Rice but without the vegetables since I'm not a big Veggie Fan. I also asked for the beef to be cooked spicy with my beef fried rice and they honored my request without any argument. Asked to change the Christmas music and they said NO! LOL The food was on point for the most part! I was missing a little bit more of the sweetness in the sweet-and-sour but everything else tasted delicious. The egg drop soup was perfect, but the low main could have used more crunchier meat, but it was still delicious. The flavor was good but not perfect due to the lack of seasoning with the lo Mein. Food came within 35-40 minutes from ordering and was delivered warm, driver was courteous and careful with our food delivery. We ordered: Beef & String Beans w/ Black Bean Sauce Orange Chicken Sweet & Sour Chicken 8 Cream Cheese rangoons Red Corner Platter The trays the meals were in look small but they stuff the meals to the brim, generous portions. I think one tray can easily be divided into 3-4 lunch meals. We still have a lot of food leftover from tonight's dinner. Been there many times, one time went there for hotpot and others for just normal dishes. The hotpot broth is spot on, it's what I would make when I have hotpot party at home, hot and spicy. However, I remember the sides to put in to pot were not super fresh. The meat cuts are good though, the correct cut of meat will give you the correct texture in hotpot.
