The food was absolutely delicious!! We had Seared Ahi Tuna nachos as an appetizer. It was one of the best appetizers I have ever had the nachos were light and crunchy and the toppings and sauce drizzled all over the top tied everything together. One of the best first bite I have had. For dinner I had ribeye steak cooked to perfection with a morel mushroom sauce and morels on top, accompanied with horseradish mashed potatoes, and asparagus! The crab cakes are amazing are on their own, but then you add the dipping sauce, and OMG!!! The whitefish meal will not let you down. The fish is so soft and tasty, and on top of that amazing rice, you can't beat it. Also, had the country fried steak. The breading for the steak was delicious, but the smoked, pickled onions and greens on top were to die for. Then you add the creamy mashed potatoes with the truffles in it. This is a great "local place." Located just west of Hwy 127 on US 12, the blue building is easy to spot. Because there isn't anything else close by! And any day that they are open (but especially on Friday and Saturday nights,) the parking lot will be packed. And consequently, you may have to wait for a booth or table especially if you have a group. A piece of advice: when the place is full, this will not be a place for a quiet conversation. But you will be surrounded by nice people having fun as they dine. An interesting aspect of this restaurant is its eclectic menu. If you cannot find something to eat here, you are just way too picky in your eating. Steaks, burgers, seafood, pasta, salads, appetizers of every variety, and special menus such as "Sushi Night" and "Throwback Thursdays." The latter is a listing of about 10 different dishes for $9.99 - you won't get huge portions off of this menu, but you won't go hungry either. The bar is busy and multiple TVs are there for the sports fan. The layout of the building is "interesting." If you need assistance via ADA, the route is circuitous but easy to navigate. Found this place on Yelp as well on our family vacation. There were 11 of us so it can be tricky at times to get seating right away but this place was massive and even though the main area looked to be full there was another (covered) patio section that houses just as many tables that our group was first to sit in. The restaurant is a little older but the vibe is still fun and beach type getaway. I don't remember our servers name but a very kind and patient lady who checked in with us often and catered to our requests. Everyone who brought out food or checked in (there were many) came and helped with a smile so very welcoming service by all! The food was pretty solid, I started with a Bloody Mary which was ok... it was a richer and smokier taste to it which wasn't my favorite but my sister enjoyed it so we switched and I had her pineapple mule or something. Pizzas coming out looked delicious, so I ordered the chicken bacon ranch. Again it was okay, the flavor was there but sparse, the toppings and sauce was a little too sparse. However the cheesy bread appetizer we got was phenomenal, lots of cheese goodness and the ranch dipping sauce balanced in some good flavor. Everyone else raved about their dishes: some photos attached- my sister loved the lobster burger so maybe something I'll try next time around. All in all I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area. read more

We were welcomed at the door by lovely Michelle who also bartends. She found us a nice booth in the back. Jenny waited on us. She was very cheerful and helpful. We ordered a burger and shrimp. I truly love this restaurant. We ate there Friday night and I had the chef special salmon with cheese ravioli. Omg it was perfectly delicious. The prime rib my husband had was perfect. What a great dining experience! Stopped in for dinner on a Thursday evening and was immediately greeted by a very pleasant hostess. That really set the tone for the whole visit. Every staff member was very friendly even with being super busy. The menu has something for everyone and the Chef's special dishes are amazing! Our table had Angus beef tacos, walleye and the chef's special Creole Étouffée. We all left with full bellies and leftovers to enjoy the next day. Well... the Down Under is probably the most three star place I've ever been. It's exactly slightly above average. I usually enter optimistic and leave just slightly less optimistic about next time. However, it's still... fine. I don't think there's anything to boast about for this place so I'll just discuss the things that are... slightly beyond "ok." They have decent live music. Their prices are fair for what you get (cheap for cheap). They offer good comfort food. If you want fried food, this is the place for you. Deck down under is fine. The Deck Down Under has really good food, but my favorite was the key lime colada--so good! We started with the deck dots, which are basically tasty fried dough balls sprinkled with parmesan. There were enough to share with 3-5 people. I had the BLT with onion rings, and the others in my party had fried fish. The fish comes with fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies, so it's a big meal. The bacon on my BLT was perfectly crisp, and I loved the beer-battered onion rings with boom boom sauce. We also got key lime pie to go, and it was pretty good. The only downsides were that the clam chowder that my husband had was a little thin and my mom felt the crust on her fish was a bit thick. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and comfortable--not at all what you'd expect from the outside. read more
