These people are rude AF. I came in to order lunch. Upon entering the door, I stood in line while the workers looked at me and did not say "hello". Finally, one of the ladies in the front ask me for my phone number. I asked if the restaurant serves orange chicken and rice. She then asks if I was picking up an order. I again tried to ask if orange chicken and rice were served in which she interrupted me. I told her she was being rude and she didn't even apologize yet continued to ask me what I'd like to order. I usually order the crispy spicy fish fillet, beef lo mein and egg drop soup. Their other basic entrees like the ribs, beef & broccoli, wings, etc are never really a hit for me. Their service can be a little chaotic during their rush hours. Please excuse some of their rude attitudes when you're picking up your order, but I always try to give grace for everyone is burnt out with working and probably dealing with other rude people all day. Credit card company warned me China House charged me twice. I called them and they said they can only fix it if I come back in person. No other option. It's an hour from my house so not worth it. No apology. I found myself in Nightdale again a few weeks later so I stopped by. The same rude lady who had taken my order and double charged me was there. She looked at my bank app, took the money out of the register, handed it to me and walked away without a word. Dear China House, you essentially stole from me and didn't apologize when called out. Place an order online and you are making a mistake. Where to start? Ordered Won ton soup. $9.50 for not filled pint container. What? Is it gold? Broth and wontons. Pork fried rice? Pint is $9.95. They completely missed the main dish. Plus it took forever! No idea why since they didn't cook main dish. When I called, she put me on hold and left me there. Never came back. Angry? That place used to serve good food years ago, but not anymore. I'm disappointed with this take out restaurant. Their service was horrible and uninviting no question about it. The quality of the food is garbage. The chicken fried rice not only looked unappealing but the chicken tasted stale. It should be ashamed to call it itself chicken fried rice. Although the shrimp with broccoli was just okay. What really unsettled me aside from their grade score no were to be found was that they charged extra on tax to profit. Had to write an update because my husband and I have been going to this place for years. They are friendly, fast, efficient, and have taken a lot of precautionary measures to keep takeout going safely through the pandemic! The biggest change in the past couple of years here has been the new additions to the menu. They are seriously GOOD! Our favorites are the black pepper chicken, crispy hot and spicy chicken, salt and pepper shrimp, and crispy fish fillets. The regular menu is a mixed bag like with any American Chinese restaurant. But there are a few standouts: egg foo young, roast pork fried rice, fried baby shrimp, and fried chicken wings are my staples. We still got a small white rice. But I'm afraid we were charged for a large lo mein order and it was rather small, instead of just an up charge. That's why I took a star off. Any way the flavors were good. The chicken was nice and crunchy. The lo mein was nice and dark with enough flavor, not bland at all. To think all that flavor & it was the plain kind! This is a takeout place in a small shopping center. My dishes were cooked to order and even after a ten minute drive home everything was piping hot. Chicken Egg Foo Young was plentiful, came with sticky rice and lots of brown gravy. There were no veggies in the items but it hit the spot. The win tons in my soup were excellent. When it comes to China House, in am absolutely in the middle. May of the dishes are great considering it's a quick grab and go place. The traditional Chinese restaurant foods are good i.e; sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup, lo mein and General Tso. My favorite appetizer is hands down crab Rangoon. I have yet to find a better one. However, the dumplings are anything but great or traditional. Also, like most, the egg roll definitely taste frozen. The other issue is that the food grade is hit and miss at times. If you want want to basic dishes that are quick, this is the place in Knightdale. Definitely grab an order of Crab Rangoon. Been going here for years, my family and I. I love this place, this is the only Chinese restaurant I eat at. The woman (owner) who runs the business with I'm assuming her husband works mostly the front (takes orders), and deals with customers remembers our orders.
