The sesame chicken, general chicken, teriyaki chicken on a stick, and sweet & sour chicken were all fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The lo mein was cooked perfectly and not dry at all. You can tell they really care about the food here. Portions are great and everything tastes consistently good every time. Rainbow Garden is a good option for Chinese food in Rolesville. It is in the same shopping center as a Food Lion; Dollar General and a Hardees. The menu is large and the prices are reasonable. My order was prepared quickly and service was friendly. They offer take out and and dine in options. Although some of the seating was stacked up on one table so that meant less available tables. I went with the beef and broccoli. I forgot to take a photo of it before transferring a third to half in my own dish. I had plenty left for another meal or two. Absolutely ridiculous, we door dashed this and Me and my wife were watching TV Eating, and all I hear is my wife say.... Ummmm babe. I was immediately concerned as she was pulling out a piece of heavy gauge metal from her chewed egg roll. Its a pretty decent size too. She got lucky this did not break her tooth, swallowed this and cut her throat all the way down, do damage to her stomach or intestines. It wasn't good pieces of chicken. The fried rice tasted a little undercooked and didn't have much of anything in it. A few tiny pork pieces and a sliver of onion. It's been more than a year since my last review and we have come to love Rainbow Garden. It was a rocky start, but it is the neighborhood place and maybe we went on an off day. Recent favorites include: chicken chow mein, crab rangoon, and all the lo meins and sweet and sour shrimp or chicken. Granted, the sweet + sour are fried, but if that is what you are craving, they hit the spot. New Englanders; the sweet and sour chicken here is like the closet thing you'll find to Boston-style chicken fingers in the south. The chicken chow mein is a standout dish at our house, the flavor is always on point. We still don't love the egg foo young; the patties are perfect, but the sauce is light, thin and lacking flavor. The lunch specials - served until 3pm can't be beat. And we've heard- but have not confirmed- that the dishes cooked at lunch time tend to be spicier. I even asked the girl at the counter if there was a new cook and she said it was. For anyone that liked the Black Pepper Chicken, it's not even close to what it used to taste like. It's horrible, and that's being nice! I even asked her if he could use an old recipe and it tasted the same. Also, the Teriyaki Chicken is somehow different tasting. Since we moved to North Carolina it had been challenging to find places that offer tasty vegetarian options. Rainbow garden has become a go-to for those evenings when I come home from work late and too tired to cook. I love the broccoli with brown sauce, bean curd and broccoli (they will let you add a different sauce if you ask) and vegetable fried rice. Didn't love the vegetable egg rolls though as I found them to be bland. Overall great spot for a quick affordable supper. read more

The fried dumplings are very good. Very tasty egg rolls too. Definitely recommend those two items. Both my husband and my son had the beef and broccoli combo. They both enjoyed it and said "It was worth the trip." I on the other hand didn't feel that way. I had the sweet and sour chicken combo. The chicken pieces were small and some overlooked enough that you couldn't eat them. We all felt the fried rice was bland on its own; It needs a sauce to give it flavor. First time ordering from here and very busy with take out. I walked in and ordered hot & sour soup & I thought crab Rangoon. I got the soup and fried wontons. I would have kept the wontons but they were fried too much with no taste so I took them back. The crab ragoon was fried perfectly although 95% cream cheese while the hot and sour soup was really hot and no spice. It can really be hit or miss with the staff at this place. Sometimes there are in a really good mood and other things it's not even worth it to go in however in the dozen or so times I have been there they have only messed up one order and the food has always been great. We have purchased the Sesame chicken combo many times from here and never had a problem! In fact we love the taste! Well today we were tasting it again so we decided to get some otw home this evening! We got home and started eating the chicken only to find out that the middle was raw on several pieces! I called them and told them and they told me to bring them done and they would replace them!! So we did but when I arrived they wanted to see the chicken and claimed it was not raw!! They wouldn't replace it and was literally calling me a liar and was arguing with me!! So they returned my $ and I am now sitting at Pand King waiting on sesame chicken and WILL NOT go back to the Rainbow Garden! They NEVER even planned on replacing our food!! Why would I lie about the chicken?? Oh well it's their loss!! I forgot to mention that they decided to talk amongst themselves in Chinese, and I know they both spoke English!!!
