First time here, but won't be my last. We started off with egg drop soup which was hot and flavorful. My partner got egg foo young and I had my favorite, Kung Pao chicken with fried rice. I also had a wonderful egg roll. The service was fast and friendly. Very clean restaurant nicely decorated. The portions were huge as you can see in the photos. Everything was excellent, but be warned. If you don't like heat, ask for the Kung Pao mild. Super flavorful and at a good price. Will return soon. read more

A disappointing lack of good Chinese cuisine in Wake Forest brought some recommendations for this place. Sadly, it seems those recommending it have not been here in a long time or never really had good Chinese food. Atmosphere sort of reminded me of the old Chinese restaurants when I was a kid in the Boston area. Menu selections offer a lot of traditional dishes. We ordered more than we needed just try a few favorites. Not a one was anywhere close to anything more than 3 star level and I'm being generous. The flavor of everything was just plain flat. One hunan shrimp dish had some heat, but still lacked flavor - most good Chinese has a certain "pop" or brightness of the flavors, not just a msg infused enhancement, more like a 5 spice clarity. Hard for me to describe. But clearly whoever is in charge of the cooking has a distaste for seasonings. Most things were prepared well otherwise so it's a real shame they lost the umami one expects from good Chinese flavors. The irritation was the charge for tea - always free at every other Chinese restaurant I've gone to since I was 5 yrs old and can recall our old family dining excursions. It offers a traditional menu, a classic Chinese-American dining atmosphere, and generally good service. I ordered the steamed pork dumplings and the roast pork fried rice--both were delicious, well prepared, and satisfying. My waiter was very attentive and contributed positively to the experience. The dining room itself is nicely decorated and welcoming. The one drawback was the restroom, which was not well kept and did not appear clean. That was disappointing and did raise some concern. Went there for a late lunch and ordered take out. They have some interesting items on the menu. I ordered the kung pao chicken and foil wrapped chicken. I'm not a huge vegetable fan was liked that the kung pai chicken had little to no veggies. The dish was spicy and the foil wrapped chicken was very flavorful. read more

Imperial Garden is my favorite spot in The Triangle for Chinese. The staff is very friendly and on top of things. The menu is large and so you should be able to find what your taste buds are after. They no longer have the buffet. This provides additional dining space though. They do take out orders as well. I don't think that phone ever stopped ringing while I was there so they stay very busy. On my most recent visit, I went with the egg roll and grilled shrimp with lobster sauce. It came with fried rice as well. In February I had the beef and broccoli combination and enjoyed that as well. read more

The service was great from the beginning to end. They greeted us at the door and the server was very attentive. The ambiance was cute with the string lights and decor. I started with an egg drop soup and steamed dumplings. Both very tasty, I appreciated that they put a twist on the egg drop soup by adding green onions. If you really like Chinese food then you know it's hard to find carryout food like New Jersey or DC Chinese carryout anywhere else. However- this place is just like it. I've been on the hunt for a long time for the best spot and right now this is it. The staff is also super patient and friendly, and the restaurant is nice inside if you want to dine in. I can tell I'm late to discovering it by the amount of people who were picking up orders and dining inside the restaurant but at least I found it. It's also in a cute shopping center with an ice cream spot among other places. The portions are very generous and the prices are great. The general tso chicken is actually one of the best I've ever had and if you look at the description they describe it as "tender chunks of chicken cooked over a flame" and it tastes just like that. The fried rice is VERY generous with the amount of shrimp or whatever protein(s) you choose in it. I also really enjoyed that imperial delight entree. We have frequented this place quite often because we thought it was the best Chinese in town. I repeated my order twice to the person over the phone, who clearly wasn't paying attention. Despite living a mile and a half away, I have never actually eaten at Imperial Garden until tonight, but have gotten takeout several times. Well, my 13 year old son and I were both blown away. The service was top notch and so was the food. My son had never had a Pu Pu platter, so we went old school and started with that as our appetizer. I didn't expect to love everything on the Pu Pu platter, but it was all delicious. Had I known that we would have devoured the appetizer, I would've ordered our entrées differently. He had the Kung pow chicken and I had the imperial Garden delight. Both dishes were very good, but we were kind of full from the Pu Pu platter, so we had a ton to take home. Our server packed everything neatly in to-go boxes, which was greatly appreciated. The lamb is not real. Let me repeat, THE LAMB IS NOT REAL. Whatever you do, please do get waste your time and money on the Mongolian lamb. The meat was sticky/waxy and tough. I threw everything up. I went there yesterday upon reading great reviews. I was highly disappointed. The fried rice was just white rice with brown sauce. I order spring rolls that were oily and soggy inside. The orange chicken was ok. The shrimp and broccoli was the best. The shrimp was good. The chicken wings were tasteless. So surprised to see a couple of Filipino dishes on their menu. I mean, the Shanghai eggrolls were definitely spot on Lumpia (Filipino eggrolls). And they even label one of their noodles as Filipino. Staying close by to this restaurant and saw the many good reviews on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Went around 8-8:30pm on a Saturday night. They were a few groups of ppl picking up to-go orders, as well as some dining in. The space inside was bigger than any other Chinese restaurant I've been to. The lady at the counter greeted me as I walked in, and was patient as I asked questions about some of thritems on the menu. I ordered the orange chicken with white rice to-go. In MY opinion the food was just okay. To me it tasted like the chicken itself wasn't seasoned with anything, just tossed in the sauce. A solid sit-down Chinese. Pleasant service and acceptable food. The place is a bit run-down, but perhaps that adds to the charm - it's not DIRTY, it's just really REALLY old. Food is on the salty side - I think they use more cornstarch and MSG than they need to. Crab Rangoon are very good, as are the dumplings. read more

The food, the food, the food!!! We haven't had really good Chinese food, since leaving Long Island 25 years ago. It was our first visit here and my son keeps asking when can we go back. We tried several appetizers and meals, as well as pork fried rice. Everything was excellent. Our server Summer was attentive, informative and very friendly. We love imperial Gardens it's our go to Chinese restaurant in North Wake County. Fried rice is my favorite go to. Any of them are excellent, but my favorite is the one that has shrimp, pork, beef, and chicken. We were a little disappointed the last time we ordered. My husbands go to is beef and broccoli, and the beef was not it's usual tender and delicious. The gravy was fabulous over the rice as was the broccoli. I am quite sure that this was just a one time problem and it will not stop us from re-ordering there. I have tried just about everything on their menu, but Seafood they are fabulous. read more

This has become my go-to Chinese take-out. Service is great, portions are large (you'll always have left overs for the next day or two), and you always know what food you're going to get! I am Taiwanese/Chinese so I loved seeing the takeout menu having Chinese on it, so I'm assuming the food is authentic. (At least it tastes authentic to me). Our go-tos are lo meins and orange chicken. Can't go wrong with that and it's always ready for pick up ~20 minutes so I can order this on my way home from work and pick it right now.
