I have been coming to China King since they opened in 2001. I've tried most of the items on their menu and really love the food. It's always hot and fresh. The service is always great - the food is cooked well, the staff is friendly, and they are also very diligent about honoring food allergies. There are also vegetarian and gluten free options. When they're not busy they usually have my meal ready in less than ten minutes. Drinks are somewhat limited. They have a cooler with bottled sodas and water, and they also have hot tea. They have all the traditional dishes as well as a healthy menu with no added salt or fat, and sauce is on the side. The prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area. Portion sizes are good. I can usually make two meals from one dish. The interior is very small, with only a few tables. This can be a little crowed if in a large group. But it is great for a lunch date or quiet dinner. There is plenty of parking outside because it is part of a small shopping plaza. read more

I normally use the China King on Timber Dr in Garner and usually pick it up myself. This last time I ordered on Door Dash from the Garner store, and they sent the order to the store on Walnut St. I had to wait 45-60 minutes for delivery. If I had known this was going to happen, I would have just picked it up myself and saved the $8 (%5 delivery & $3 Service fee). I will not use Door Dash again for local orders. read more

I order fried wontons , shrimp toast and Cashew chicken Fried wontons -fried way hard and no pork inside Shrimp toast - fried way to long and no taste Cashew chicken - greasy no chicken and yellow rice ??? First and last time there. What a waste of money! No one at home ate the food. Worse Chinese food I've ever had. Imagine a yellow shrimp fried rice with not even a single vegetable in it. Don't know what happrned to the restaurant. The food used to be really good as far as fast food goes, but the last two times I have eaten there the quality has went way down. it's like there is no enthuiasm in preparing the food. I order fried wantons and was told it would be about 10 minutes. Went next door to pickup an item came right back to wait, and my order was already done. I've ordered from her twice now. They never send sauces with the food and the food is bland. The Shrimp and Vegetables had no flavor and is mostly cabbage. Hunan chicken had no spice even though it's advertised as very spicy. Crab Rangoons were to fried and chewy and with the filling being sweet. Egg roll was full of just cabbage no pork or even onion. This is my first and last time ordering from this Chinese restaurant. I ordered pork fried rice via Uber Eats. There were only a few, small, dark, dried pieces of pork. Also, unbelievably, this is the first that I have ordered from a Chinese restaurant and did not receive not even one single packet of sauce. There was literally nothing in the bag, not even a fork. China King is apperantly under new management, better management. I decided that I would get some carryout because it is real close to my house. I was really shocked at how much better the food was. Then I realized none of the people I usally see were there. If you have tried them before or are looking at reviews from a few months back give them a try. When hurricane Florence came through, they kept their doors open and helped feed myself and my hungry husband who were without power. They were busy, polite and hustling as fast as they could. I wish I could apologize for all the rude people who took advantage of them keeping their doors open to feed people without power and complained of the service. I appreciate that they stayed open, supplied us with some delicious cheap take out lo mein. Would recommend the house lo mein, you get a little bit of everything. Better than average NC chinese food at a really cheap price. We fed 6 people for $23. Not a bad deal. The best was the lo mein by far which was saucy and had plenty of shrimp, pork, and chicken. Egg foo young was good but needed a better gravy to go with it. The gravy was a very mealy chicken flavor. I prefer a savory brown gravy to go with my foo young. We didnt eat in the restaurant but it was a perfectly average Chinese place inside with a couple standard red booths. read more

Try the Chow Mai Fun ( Chinese Rice Stick- Noodles)... It's not spicy so be sure to ask them to spice it up if that's how you roll. Great take out for the family for $15 to $25. The restaurant was recently sold and looks the same as before. The new owners are very nice and the food is cooked well, hot but still some crunch to the vegetables. The soups are extra tasty. The problem is, the food is extremely bland, there is little flavor to the sauces. I've tried a number of different dishes the problem is across the board. I hope they see this and improve the flavor, would hate to see them lose business. read more

I have gotten take out at this Chinese food place four years ago. The food was great. I just got take out. I ate three bites. Found a bone in the chicken. It was fatty and completely gross. I am not sure if it was chicken or not. My boyfriend got chicken too. We hate a few pieces and threw it away. I never write reviews but this food was awful.
