One of the only good Chinese places I have found in Columbia. The food is always great, but what motivated me to write this review today was the customer service. I walked in last night and looked at the menu, I said something along the lines of "aw I wish this place had dumplings on the menu," to my boyfriend. I moved on and ordered my usual. The woman behind the counter must have heard me because when I opened my bag once I got home, I opened it to a box with a small smiley face in the corner and dumplings inside. It was just such an act of kindness, I was so blown away that this lady was nice enough to go out of her way and make me something that's not even on the menu and stick them in my bag for free. And they were delicious!

I'm never disappointed! I'm 27 and I have been coming here since about 16 years old. My food is always hot, fresh, and delicious! The owners are never rude and have great customer service. I literally drive from Charlotte to Columbia (hometown) just to get my fix because Charlotte just does not excel in the restaurant business especially Chinese. read more

Hidden gem! After living in Columbia for 12 years, we finally tried it. Wish we had been going all along. This little hole in the wall place has amazing ham fried rice and spring rolls. The owner even gives out small desserts for free with your to-go meal. read more

I've tried them out on multiple occasions and they've only gotten it right once. It's a neighborhood restaurant my dad use to go to but I'm not to keen of it. Wings are tiny and rice is always dry. I always ask for double meat and it seems I may get at least 2 more pieces that's it. Not read more

Great food. Good quick service. The staff was friendly and explained any questions, I ordered the chicken wings and fried rice. 4 stars due to some of my wings being so small. At least two were the size of half a wing or a little smaller than my pinky. This was a little odd and didn't seem fair for the price. Overall the food was good next time I need to check my meal before I leave. read more

The vegetables were overcooked. I got Szuan beef which seemed like it had been made from pepper steak. Was a little spicy but lacking in Szuan sauce flavor. The hot and sour soup was also made up of mushy vegetables with none of the traditional ingredients like tofu and bamboo shoot. There was an off-putting chemical taste that lingered with each dish. I don't think it was anytime of seasoning. read more

First time trying this place yesterdsy for lunch.. I had lunch 5 wing special.. The food was good and fresh..I was impressed with this hole in the Al Chinese food.. I went back for dinner and ordered more wings and added Lomien that's was also delicious.. definitely will be returning read more

I went there not expecting much as the Chines restaurant scene in Columbia has not been great so far. It is really a hole in the wall for your typical Chinese-American take out place and not a particularly good one at that either, so if you are looking for Chinese food you can give this place a pass. We had the sweet and sour chicken and general Tsao ... very underwhelming. read more

Tried this place for the first time today. I got one of the lunch specials which was five wings, ham fried rice, and sweet tea for $6.95. I asked for all flat wings and it was not a problem at all. Food was delicious and a lot of rice for one person! I even had some left for dinner. They were busy but I did not have to wait too long for my food. Parking is kind of crowded at lunch. I think the next time I will call my order in. I will definitely visit again. read more

A decent Chinese restaurant in downtown Columbia . Just moved here working in downtown area and tried lunch special here. The location of the restaurant is very convenient! Easy to get in and out! Just minutes away from my downtown office. The food was decent. My lunch special is shrimp fried rice with 6 pieces chicken wings comes with an iced tea. Definitely will try again. read more

I frequent this place for takeout because the lunch combo is tasty and priced just right! I ask for "light oil" so they will go easy on the oil. The food always tastes good and is presented beautifully.The restaurant is very clean. (I can't believe the tables have a glass top.) Unlike some other restaurants, I never leave the restaurant smelling like grease all over. Food is very good here. However, the location is not. Right in the middle of the ghetto. Recommend this restaurant only during daylight hours. I was harassed by a homeless man outside when I went around 9PM. read more

Food is always hot and fresh. Was not a fan of the lemon pepper wings but all the others were amazing. The honey mustard was very mustardy but I like that, and the teriyaki would have to be my favorite. The lunch deal can just not be beat. Best Chinese in downtown Columbia by far. read more

JJ's Tea House has been a staple for years and I am so glad I finally got a chance to try them…read more Their pork based broth is so flavorful and perfectly balanced. Their noodles have a great texture to them and make their soups absolutely standout from the rest. The shrimp bao buns have great texture and flavor! The staff is friendly and the service is quick! I had my order to go but the interior is nice. You can tell it's a mom and pop shop and it truly feels like someone's grandmother is making the food back there. I'm looking forward to my next visit to dine in!

The volcano roll was absolutely delicious but know that it's pretty heavily covered in the mayo and eel sauce so if you don't want a ton of extra calories, you could ask for it on the side. My friend spider roll was super fishy. I'm glad we went, but not sure that it would be worth a trip back. The restaurant was clean and nice, but the bathroom has seen better days and there was blood on the walls so it was just really weird. Luckily went to the restroom at the end of the evening. I am leaving off the name of the server, because people may need the money, but I am pretty sure that the staff and team know who it is, and the problem can be fixed by servers actually writing down orders, so that mistakes are less common, and staff covering down for others. I will happily update this review if I go back in a year or something and they have these easy, and almost cost neutral solutions implemented.

Our niece's daughter had the farmers omelette with the apple sage sausage. The apple-sage sausages were excellent (I got to sample one) and a very good deal. The ambience of Halls is always great. The service is usually quite good and the food is usually excellent. This is our second brunch at Halls and I'll have to say that our first brunch experience was a little bit better for the reasons noted above. I still rate it the best brunch in town.
