For a small older restaurant it's got some good selections. I prefer the Thai menu options. I've been going therefor about 15 years or so, the food is consistently good. As for the couple that run it, they really aren't in it to win personality awards, they are there to cook, and I'm ok with that. This isn't five star dining, but for my 4-5 different Thai dishes I cycle through there I would put them right up with and against some heavy hitters. I ordered Singapore noodles, diet broccoli and mushroom and honey hot wings. It was all horrible. The Singapore noodle weren't spicy but tasted like a teriyaki sauce. The shrimp was old and mushy. The diet broccoli and mushroom dish was swimming in a sauce with 4 pieces of mushroom. The fried rice was soggy and hard at the same time. The honey hot wings were a sweet and sour sauce and I specifically asked for non breaded wings but got breaded. I should have known when I went during lunch time and the place was not packed. I love the other china huts but I will not be back to this one. read more

First time getting take out here on a spontaneous trip I will be back!! The chicken wings were delicious, crispy, and juicy. The chicken and shrimp teriyaki meal was really good too I loved all the fresh veggies. Very reasonably priced for the amount of food received. read more

I am a big fan of the Pho and the Pad Thai with tofu. I do not usually like tofu, but love this preparation of it.

I go to this place at least once a week. It is convenient to downtown Columbia and generally has fast service. I have tried many, many items on the vast menu. Easier to say the things I didn't like. I did not like the fried wontons. They were fried to a crisp and not in a good way. I couldn't believe they'd served them to me. I sent them back. A friend ordered a chicken dish that seemed like it would be like Cantonese Boneless Chicken, but it tasted bad, like the chicken was old. She sent it back and got the Pepper Steak. They change the specials menu too often for me. Keep it the same, folks, please! On the menu now, the two with the shrimp rolls are good. The Papaya Salad special is great, but I would not want to eat only that. It is very spicy and is great to split with one or two other people as a side dish. Very interesting flavors. Crispy Chicken is good, but sometimes a bit overdone and too "crunchy." Friends love the Pad Thai. The pork chop special is excellent. read more

This place has horrible food. No wonder i had never heard anyone talk about it or even recommend it in all the years ive lived here... the rice was frozen it seems they microwaved it but it was still hard in the middle some... the teriyaki chicken i got was horrible flavor was just honey and it had a weird almost sandy texture... the eggroll was still dripping of oil... the sweet tea is also pure sugar. If you love spice and heat their Thai menu is for you. I just tried this place on a whim and it turned out to be durn good.

This place is culturally challenged. It's very confusing to figure out what to order. They literally have 5 menu's at the tables and then there are specials and a board at the register with DIFFERENT menu items. I'm assuming you can order any of the items on any of the menu's but I just found this super confusing. I also question restaurants that can't decide if they want to serve chinese food, japanese food, thai, or american food. I understand wanting to serve the local clientele but this was just too much! Recently moved into the area and was put off by the reviews--but happily tried it for myself. Three visits so far and never disappointed. We've tried a lot, but especially like the ginger coconut chicken soup (Thai) and the Phos (Vietnamese broth with meat and noodles). Other dishes are basic Chinese and about the same as you get at most good places for these prices--which are very fair. read more

So I've eaten at China Hut III since I was young. Convenience has made me go to a place around the corner from where I live for the past few years, but last night I had to have China Hut III's Hot & Sour soup. It's made to order, and seriously the best Hot & Sour I've ever had. I was vegetarian when I was young, so I generally eat vegetarian at Chinese restaurants. The Tofu & Garlic Sauce (spicy 3 stars) was SO GOOD. Very nice people. I can't believe it had been so long, and I will never let it go that long again. I've even considered going back at lunch today for the same order. The Thai is legit too. Years ago, Columbia had a lack of Thai food, so I'd come here for my Thai fix too. Chicken wings are great too. Oh, have to mention the price. It is SO cheap. My dinner last night was $10.25 w/ tax? Holy cow I couldn't do that at Subway. read more

I was not impressed by the flavor of the Kung Po Chicken. Texture was different than most any other Chinese I have been to and I had no desire to finish my meal. I ordered the crab Rangoon and 3/6 we empty of filling and the other 3 were half or less full. Only good thing was services was good and staff friendly... keeping me from putting a 1 star. Well... here we go. This is my first review and I'm gonna hit you guys up with more in the future. WARNING!!! I'm brutally honest! I was born and raised in Columbia and I've seen a lot of places come and go. Mostly, I miss the China Garden in 5-Points, Sesame Inn, and two other places on Two Notch Rd, which are long gone. It wasn't that long ago when you went to a Chinese restaurant, it was an event. Places had white table clothes, bright decorations, and music playing softly in the background. Depending on how many people were in your group, you'd order an entre from group A and group B, soup and an eggroll, or order ala carte. So sad that they've all been replaced by Wing & Rice places in concrete block hubbles that sell over cooked, tasteless, and fried from frozen eggrolls. Now, where can you get real Moo-Suze Pork with the wood-ear mushrooms, Cantonese Boneless Chicken with stir-fried veggies and a thick brown egg-foo-young gravy and fried wontons that won't require dental work the next day? Here's the deal folks...I used to eat lunch here two or three times a month because they had the best Ham Fried Rice in town. If they had added a bit more scrabbled egg, it would have been perfect. The rice was served hot at your table with a close to perfect balance of onion, bean sprouts and cubes of smoked ham. The wings are flavorful, but always overcooked, even when I asked them not to cook them to death! This is the main reason I haven't been back...The owner of this place will talk on his cell phone, yelling at the top of his lungs, for every single minute you're there. And if you happen to visit here during the summer when it's 100 degress outside...it may take up to twenty-five minutes for you to get a cold beverage.
