Shrimp toast is my name for this review. I've eaten their food many times, and never been impressed. I will say I was very happy to find a place that still sold shrimp toast, and it was good. That is pretty much the end. My wife decided her Lo-mein tasted like dishwater. I got the hot and sour soup and it was unremarkable. I also ordered General Tso's and the Egg Fu Yung. Family ordered takeaway for Christmas. We ordered their wonton soup, garlic tofu, vegetable delight, sweet and sour chicken, and fried wontons. Balance came out to approximately $110. What's hot - Menu. It's a pretty extensive menu- meats, veggies, tofu, maybe even for vegans. - Service. For ordering food for a family of 6, our order was ready in about 20 minutes. Everything was properly wrapped up. Nothing was missing. When I gave them the name for our order, everything was ready. They're also open during major American holidays, such as Christmas and New Year's, which is very helpful. - Location. Pretty easy to find in a small plaza with other shops. When we went on Christmas Day, all their tables and chairs were pushed to the side, so I'm uncertain whether they're currently doing table service or if it's just take away orders. - Price. Very reasonable, especially given the portions. If you order a quart, versus a pint, it's less than $10, which includes white rice. What's not - Quality. As a child of immigrant parents, who grew up in Silicon Valley, CA, where there is a large community of Chinese immigrants, I can say that this is not authentic Chinese food. It's catered for the local American population. The flavor and seasoning of the food is very generic. For example the difference between my spicy garlic tofu and vegetable delight was only the tofu. All the vegetables between the two dishes were literally the same, including the sauce/taste. With that said, it's not terrible. For Americanized Chinese food, it works. I've been trying Chinese places around Columbia over the past couple years, trying to find one of the little strip-mall type of places that had the best food and good prices. Main Moon fits that category better than anywhere else. It's a very straightforward place. You go in, they have the large printed out menus as well as some images above the register of the popular dishes. It's a very small place, and they don't really have tables set up for dining there, so plan to get carry out. Usually they're bringing my food back from the kitchen within 5 minutes of placing an order. I've been trying the combo meals, which come with fried rice and an egg roll, both of which are fairly standard but really good. My favorite dish, with my very simple palate, is the sesame chicken combo, pictured below. Just terrible. The spring roll was dripping with grease. The shrimp toast was burnt and also wet with old oil. The pork lo mein a half pound of noodles with some strips of pork, absolutely no sauce. The hot and sour soup lacked any hint of white pepper or black Chinese vinegar. The color was milky. I'm sure there must be a decent Chinese restaurant in Colimbia but this is not it. I spent over $100.00 and the only thing we could eat was the shrimp and lobster sauce. Eatable but not great. Good, not bad not the best. More American style than I expected. I asked for extra extra extra spicy and emphasized it and it was a normal American level of spicy and that was disappointing. This place is such a hole in the wall, but it is hands down the best fast american Chinese food that i have ever had. The lo mein is perfect! Not dry and unflavor like most places. I have given this four stars, understanding that this is a value priced takeout place in Columbia. Chinese food in Columbia is pretty terrible and I normally avoid the takeout style places but desperation drove me to survey the ones near my home. This is the only place I will order from for several reasons. First, the food is not greasy. Second, they have a good number of vegetarian dishes. Third, the vegetables are fresh and not overcooked. Fourth, they have real, short grain brown rice. Fifth, they are dirt cheap. When my wife is out of town and I can't motivate myself to cook for one, this is the place I will be frequenting. The only thing that would make it five stars is if they had a few more traditional vegetarian offerings like shiitake and bok-choy stir fry, more noodle dishes or something featuring preserved vegetables. read more

If you call in your order while you're on your way over, it'll probably be ready within 5 minutes of arriving, if not sooner. Lots of menu options. Something for everybody. I eat mostly vegan, and it's even easy to find something for me. The large portions are huge, so unless it's for two people or you're incredibly hungry, go with the small size. I've recommended this place to several friends, all of whom have loved it. Downside: not much seating, and very little parking. All in all, though: Highly recommended. They called me and told me what I already knew. I went back and... they took the food back behind the counter. They were still going to give it to whomever ordered it. After I'd absquatulated with it and, yes, almost eaten the egg roll I didn't order. My fingers were inches away. Had I been any hungrier, the egg roll would've probably had a bite taken out of it, and it certainly would have been touched by my grimy fingers. That little episode confirmed it.
