We were looking for something close to home so we decided to give this place a second chance. The restaurant is very clean with ample seating. We were welcomed right away and the service was great. Our waiter was very friendly and super attentive, it made dining in that much more joyful. Food - I have a big love for sweet and sour chicken ( don't judge lol ) and these were perfectly crisp, seasoned and the sauce was perfect. The fried rice was good but unfortunately the XLB was missing the soup. The dumplings had good flavor but the soup was MIA. Overall I really enjoyed tonight's dinner and this place came in clutch as far as location and what I was looking for.

I opted to dine in around lunch time. It was quiet and clean. I was the only dine in customer. A couple of people came in to pick up to go orders. I opted for the Hunan chicken under the lunch bento & spring rolls. The bento.came with a won ton soup. One of the better ones I've had in a while. The spring rolls were fresh & tasty and so was the generous portion of the Hunan chicken & steamed rice. Veggies were nice & fresh too. The owner who waited on me was very nice. Will be back to try other items, including the fried rice.

From the moment we arrived, the experience felt personal and thoughtful. The owner greeted us at the door, seated us, and gave a detailed breakdown of the daily specials and house favorites--explaining each dish like a seasoned chef. You could instantly tell this was a place where food is made with care, not just cooked to order. We started with the tempura shrimp and xiao long bao (soup dumplings). The shrimp was crisp and light without being greasy, and the dumplings were rich, flavorful, and perfectly steamed. For the main meal, we ordered: Chicken and Broccoli - The chicken was incredibly moist, the sauce was light and flavorful, and the broccoli was perfectly sautéed--tender but still with a fresh, satisfying crunch. House Fried Rice & Pineapple Fried Rice - Both rices were impressively fresh, without the usual greasy taste or signs of reused oil. It honestly tasted like they were cooked on a brand-new skillet. Pepper Steak - This dish is a must for anyone who loves savory, hearty flavors. It was well-seasoned, comforting, and satisfying. We paired everything with unsweetened tea, which was also excellent--clean, well-brewed, and refreshing. The restaurant itself is small, with about 10 picnic-style tables, but it's spotlessly clean and welcoming. It's clear that every detail--from service to flavor to presentation--is handled with intention and pride. This is not your average Chinese spot. If you're particular about your Chinese food and value authentic flavor, freshness, and care in every bite, China in Café No. 7 is a must-visit. Highly recommend. 5 out of 5 stars.

We were thoroughly impressed with everything we ordered. I got the chicken chow mein. So much flavor and large portions! We got egg rolls and even though it was take out, they were still super crispy when we got home!! My dad got beef and chicken and we also shared the chicken fried rice. Everything here hit the spot. If I lived in Texas, I would go back abain

This is a great spot. The menu is simple the food is made to order. The atmosphere is very clean. Also, great for take out.

I had the Singapore noodles with shrimp and pork. It was a little spicy but delicious. The restaurant has a sign that basically says BYOB so I got a margarita from torchys and brought it over. It was clean and quiet inside but a little warm.

    8 Piece Chicken Spicy Wontons

Placed a to go order at the restaurant, and the food was ready in 15 minutes. I got the chicken spicy wontons + general tso's chicken. The wontons were so yummy. They were more so on the sweeter side rather than spicy, and they're relatively small, but for 8 of them, they are satisfying! The general tso's was amazing. The chicken pieces were HUGE. I could barely eat 3 pieces cuz it filled me up quick lol. Sauce was sweet and tasty, pairing perfectly with the steamed rice. From the outside, the restaurant looks small, but when walking in, it's very spacious and bright! My quick interaction with the owner was nice. Will be back.

    House Special Lo Mein

Last time I was here it was called Ling Long Dumplings. I placed my order online and was surprised with a free app which was cool. When I walked in to pick up, the owner explained how theres usually discounts or promos with online orders. Super friendly! When I finally got home with my food, I realized we were missing the sweet and sour sauce for the chicken. We called in and let them know and we were able to go back and pick it up. Sweet and sour chicken just doesn't hit the same without the sauce. The fried rice that came along with the meal was very pale and no flavor. The egg drop soup was thick and yummy. I prefer lo mein noodles on the thinner side but the flavor was okay. Not the best but not the worst. I know better than to get XLB to go but I've been craving them like crazy. These were pretty flat by the time I dug in but great flavor. I wanted to like the food more because the owner was so kind and friendly!

Steam rice, egg drop soup, Kung Pao chicken, small skinny egg roll, and fried crab puff
    Sandy C.

I have come here twice, and had the Kung Pao, and Mongolian dish at another time. The flavor, taste, and quantity is really good. I just wish there prices were less. But, with these times I get it. Paid $11.95 plus $3.95, but on that occasion, I was charged $14.95 plus the $3.95, so beware. Today the Mongolian was $14.95 plus $3.95. What is the plus $3.95? A little soup, a fried skinny egg roll ( thin crust), and a fried puff. I don't think I will do the $3.95 again. As far as friendliness, it's nice, the waiter and I am guessing owner is nice and diligent server. I felt bad telling him he overcharged me my first time ever going there.

    Egg Drop Soup

I'm so glad I had the pleasure of eating here! I went on a Saturday and was ecstatic they had a lunch menu option for the weekend! The food was extremely fresh. The egg rolls were huge, definitely good for 2 people. The general Tao's chicken was also really good, the pieces of chicken were pretty big which always makes me hesitant but they had just the right amount of crispiness and no tendons to be found! Don't be fooled by the picture of the egg drop soup, that was the lunch portion and it was more of a bowl than a cup! Overall this place was amazing. The staff was very friendly and prompt, and big bonus for the cleanliness! Come try them out!

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

From the moment the duck arrives at your table, you know you're in for something special. The skin is perfectly lacquered--beautifully crisp with an irresistible golden sheen--while the meat underneath is unbelievably tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every bite is a perfect balance of crispy skin, succulent duck, fresh cucumbers, scallions, hoisin sauce, and warm pancakes. It's not just dinner... it's an experience. What I love most is the consistency. Every single visit, the quality is exceptional. The presentation is elegant, the flavors are authentic, and the attention to detail is second to none. You can truly tell that the chefs take immense pride in their craft. The service is always warm, attentive, and welcoming, making every meal feel like a special occasion. Whether it's a date night, celebrating with friends, or simply satisfying a craving, Bamboo House never disappoints. 5/5 Stars isn't enough. If I could give them 10 stars, I absolutely would. Dry Fried Green Beans 5/5- these are the best green beans I have had in my life! I am not exaggerating like I will be thinking about these green beans all week. Do not hesitate to try these. Perfectly salty and good amount of crunch still left. The flavors they used are just perfect. Colorful Beef 4/5- The texture of the beef was so tender and not chewy at all like other places. The flavor was bright and the bell peppers were cooked through well. The issue I had with this dish was the sichuan peppercorns. I was just eating and not really looking at it super closely so I got a mouth full of these peppercorns and wow it was actually horrible. Just beware because the texture of these things are god awful and I think that they should be taken out like how a bay leaf is removed before serving. It was just really intense and it almost ruined the dish for me honestly. Other than that a great dish. My mouth was so numb but worth it. Dandan noodles 2/5- This was my first time trying this dish anywhere and I did not really enjoy it at all. The sesame flavor was really strong and it wasn't really salted at all. Very strange flavor. I will not order this again, however I do believe that the execution on this dish is great. There was a lot of sauce and the noodles were cooked well.
