The restaurant is clean and usually quite busy. The staff is nice and straightforward. The dishes that you must get are the Sichuan style Biang noodle or the regular Biang noodle. The noodles are freshly made and super long and thick. The sauce is so delicious and pairs so well with the perfectly chewy noodles. The amazing fish is also a must order dish. They use flounder that nicely seasoned and coated with a perfect coating that is crispy and so addictingly delectable. Somehow it is so light and crispy and doesn't feel greasy. I've been here to dine a handful of times and just realized I never wrote a review of all my positive experiences here for the world to know. So here we go! Trendy Dumpling is a Chinese/Sichuan style restaurant located off 59 and Edloe off the feeder. It's close to the 59/610 west loop intersection which is notorious for horrendous traffic, so pack your patience. The restaurant is at the tail end of a shopping strip that includes Plato's Closet and Game Over Games. (Fun to browse there to walk off your meal.) Parking can get tight during busy times so I usually try to avoid the peak hours like noon and 7 pm. The store front makes you think it's a hole in the wall, tiny restaurant, but it's actually quite spacious inside. The decor is nice and ambiance pleasant. They could use some cleaning of the vents and light fixtures (details matter) but I also don't think they are trying to be a fine dining establishment so whatever. Now for the food: everything I've ordered here is quite good, but I do highly recommend the soup bao, dumplings, Biang noodles, and amazing fish in particular. The amazing fish is quite amazing! The name is perfect for the dish and quite enticing. Everything is delicious and there's so much variety that you can come back multiple times and try something new every time. The flavors of all their dishes are a hit, and everything comes out the perfect temperature. Service is OK - nothing special but nothing to complain about. Learning from last time, I did not get the dan dan noodles because I didn't like the mouth-numbing sensation, but opted for the beef flat noodles + soup bao. It's been a little while, but I came back since my sister and mom were raving about the spicy beef noodle soup with hand pulled noodles. We did not hold back with our order--we had that soup, plus the chicken dumplings (steamed), the dry pot vegetable, a pot of honey ginger tea, and the honeydew milk tea. It was all an explosion of flavors, and quite delicious. The surprising standouts were the honey ginger tea, dry pot vegetables, and the chicken dumplings. They said the tea has orange in it--it was so good! Not your average flavorless hot tea. The vegetables had well-balanced cumin undertones. And the chicken dumplings were simply plated on a thin sauce, but perfectly done. The beef noodle soup was good, but the beef was quite fatty, despite being tender. The noodles were really chewy and delicious. The soup broth itself has a kick to it that you don't really detect with burning in your mouth--for me, it made me cough a lot. Prices were fair. I ordered via DoorDash. Being a vegetarian I only ordered vegetarian dishes however both of them were outstanding. I ordered the pan fried vegetable dumplings. They were absolutely delicious. My only complaint about these was that there was not enough dumpling sauce. A tiny container is nowhere near enough for all the dumplings. The vegetable lo mein was literally some of the best vegetable lo mein I've ever had. The portions are extremely generous and I have at least two more meals out of what I ordered. I drive past this location all the time, and I had it book marked. This past weekend i decided to give them a try The menu offers a variety of Asian cuisine (mostly Chinese dishes). The menu also indicates if something is spicy (red pepper symbol) or if something specifically has Szechuan peppers in it (Szechuan pepper symbol). Also, of the dishes indicate if it's popular The food was tasty, and the portions were hearty. There was just the right amount of heat (spicy) to the spicy dishes. We also tried the bubble waffle for dessert and it was a little more browned and tough than we would have liked The location is well decorated, and there is a good use of space and lighting. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had our water carafe filled regularly. I will say that after our meal came our server didn't check to see if everything was correct or if we were alright until maybe 30+ min into the meal. Also, we didn't receive one of our appetizers, and when the check came it was on there. Just make sure everything is correct on the receipt Some tips: You can either access this location from the feeder road or from West Park (behind it). What a pleasant surprise to find a spot close-ish to me with Chinese food that suits my tastes! This spot is in a strip mall next to the freeway so can be easily missed if you aren't making the effort to come out this way. Walking in, I was surprised that ambiance wise it was like asian-inspired "upscale" modern. Service was quick and efficient, they sat us and mostly let our party enjoy our meal. They were pretty good at refilling our waters and checking in. Foodwise, I was surprised by their soup dumplings. As far as the ones I've tried in Houston, these rank among the top. Good filling, with a nice ginger flavor, thin skin, and good soup inside, they also held up during eating and weren't excessively hot when eating them. The beef noodle soup with biang noodles was also good, very flavorful broth, super tender chunks of beef, and the noodles had a pleasant chew. Prices also seemed fair, though ~$10 for 6 xlb makes me sad but that seems to be the going rate now. Overall, this spot seemed to be a good bang for your buck and had food that was reminiscent of what I look for flavor and quality wise. I don't think I got something here I didn't like. I'm really impressed with their ability to use every part of the duck after it's carved for us. The display is definitely something to see. The Peking Duck was so good and delicious, and it comes with 2-3 other dishes. My mom loves their Singapore noodles. Soup dumplings were fantastic. Eggplant dishes, my husband gets and he loved them. You can't really go wrong here. The only thing maybe be finding a table, it can get a little cramped in there. The past couple times we just order to go. Stopped into Trendy Dumpling on the holiday to enjoy a nice late lunch with my partner. It's located in a strip mall along 59 accessible if you're headed East. Tons of seating and a small bar area when you venture inside. Once seated, you find the menu is moderately sized with approachable and shareable items like dumplings with a variety of protein fillings, bao, noodle and rice dishes, and even boba. We tried several hearty dishes that were all really quite good. Dan Dan noodles were the highlight for me. A bit spicy, but still manageable, with crispy chopped peanuts, well seasoned ground pork, and scallions. All in a generous (at least 2 large servings) bowl. Just use the tongs to mix everything well and enjoy. The garlic eggplant was equally delicious. Tender, with a rich and slightly sweet sauce. Perfect to drizzle over and incorporate with sticky white rice. My partner tired the intestine dry pot with loads of whole garlic, bell peppers, and peppercorns. It's not my favorite flavor profile, but they fried up the intestines to perfection. This one comes with a little bit more heat in my opinion. Finally, the crispy bao were visually appealing with plenty of pork (I think) filling. The only downside to the meal was the bao were a bit dry once you take a bite. However, the flavor is there and if you try it with soy sauce it may help. Overall, we both really enjoyed trendy dumpling and thought it was among the better options outside of Bellaire/Chinatown. read more

The food was really good. Loved how the noodles were al dente and so chewy. This paired so well with the pork sauce and green beans. Plus watching the chef in the back also kneed the noodles were great. The crispy bao bun was small but each bite packed a juicy punch of flavor. Also just really liked how crispy it was to bite into, that crunch. The breading on the general Tsao was bit much much but I did enjoy with rice. The ambiance was nice, they were fast and efficient.
