This used to be our go-to place for take-out. Not anymore. They're apparently under new management and things have gone straight downhill. First thing they did was to fire all the old staff. These were the people who knew their customers and knew the business. The new staff are okay, but so is the staff at McDonald's. Rule of thumb: ALWAYS check your take-out order to make sure it's complete and that it's really yours. As for the new cooks: The main ingredient in their food is now salt, with some other stuff tossed in for color. And if, for example, you like Kung Pao Chicken it seems there are a half dozen different ways to make it. You just never know which one you'll get. Did I mention salt? Best option for Chinese food within 20+ miles. Granted it doesn't compare to being in China Town in DC. Andy, the manager, still remembers us when we walk in and still asks if we want Kir, even when he hasn't seen us for 2 years. Management and staff are very friendly, they watched my little girl grow up from the time she was an infant up until we moved away. Love the Hot & Sour soup and the Scallops in Garlic sauce. I order from this place often, lately has been delivery. I'm usually a patron of the buffet in the afternoon because you get a good meal for the price you pay. The part I am very upset about every time I come in with my children is they always ask me their ages (for pricing purposes) which is fine with me, but when I tell them their ages they question seriously?? How are you going to question me on MY OWN CHILD'S AGE? That is upsetting. When he finish our meal and the bill comes they obviously didn't believe me when I told them how old my children were and charged me more then what I should have been charged. I have to ask them to remove the charges and/or change the prices. It is annoying that I have to do this almost every time. On to the delivery portion. Earlier this week I ordered Chinese to be delivered to my home. I didn't order much shrimp fried rice, sweet n sour chicken, 2 egg rolls and won ton soup...My order took OVER an hour to get to me. I was very upset by this point because they weren't busy (I asked the lady when I called) so why did it take that long to get to me???? I read on Facebook that it was remodeled and new owners, so we went to try. It's awful in my opinion. Dirty. Did not look remodeled. Bad service, but she was trying. It's just she was new and did not know anything about the menu, or how the restaurant does things. They charge $1.50 for drink refills and the first time, it was mostly ice in the cup. Beyond disappointed. The food was not that great either. Won't go back. I do hope they turn things around, but saying you have changed is not the same as really making a change. My husband and I ordered take out from here and despite me going over my order with them over the phone they got our order wrong and over charged us and the food was disgusting - every single thing. My husband got the general Tso's chicken, I got the general tso's tofu, my husband was suppose to have an egg roll with his meal but that never came, I got the combo as well but they instead gave me white rice and charged me for a spring roll which had no flavor, we also got an order of crab Rangoon and it was super sweet and the texture was off. Came for the lunch buffet on a Saturday, which should be busy, if only a little. There were only two tables at 1:00 PM when we came in. Nearly a third of the pans were empty on the buffet. Really wanted to like China Jade. Staff was very helpful and friendly! Decor was nice.... Unfortunately i did not =( Yes, I was taking a chance ordering a Thai inspired dish from a Chinese restaurant . I ordered Panang curry and my husband had chicken drunken noodle. The fact that they served Thai food had us curious and we had to try. Both not good at all. But, I wasn't expecting too much. After all it was me who ordered Thai food in a Chinese restaurant. The part that surprised me was the fried rice! At least that's what I ordered. In my opinion it was actually white rice that they had added butter to and fried. We have been searching for a good Chinese restaurant and decided to check out China Jade. Suffice to say we are still looking. We ordered 4 dishes and 2 soups. I thought it was odd that there was no strong odor of garlic and spices being emitted from such a large bag of food but remained hopeful. When we got the food home and opened it, still no fragrance of Chinese food. Actually the smell was almost chemical. We tried some of each dish. And there was not a good one in the bunch I've had so-so Chinese food since moving out to the valley. This was not even so-so I'm sorry to say and we have made to painful decision to throw the rest of the food away. That is very much not like us. Will try the other Chinese restaurant next time and see how it is. read more

Family owned business, nice staff. Came on a Saturday and it was empty. Initially ordered takeout, but the bartender said he could make a flaming punch type of drink, so I said let's do it! They do more of a takeout business, but if you're craving Chinese food in Front Royal, this will do probably the trick. read more

Would give negative stars and a lawsuit. First, the price on their takeout menu is different from the price they gave us - almost a $10 difference. Second, the delivery guy that came was going well over 40 mph on a gravel private road (posted speed limit of 15 ). I have video proof of him almost hitting my 2 year old daughter with his car. His excuse was that he didn't want it to be late. Never again will we eat here and we will tell everyone we know as well. Not only because I don't want these type of drivers back where I live, but the multiple write ups from the health department have me concerned that they don't care about anything but their money. In our opinion this is the best Chinese place in Front Royal. The food is good, and we have had several different items on the menu. The egg rolls can be greasy at times, so they are not consistent here. We really like the hot & sour soup. My son really likes the General Tsos chicken. The Kung Pao chicken is pretty good. They do offer a buffet for lunch. If you're in the Front Royal area and looking for some Chinese food, this is probably the best in the local area. read more

Terrible, terrible food! Use to order the crispy honey shrimp which was good then I get it one day and the shrimp had big black veins, black on the tails and looked and smelled dirty. I called the mgr they sad they had a new distributor but they were going back to the old one. They never did. Then tried ordering crispy beef, good Lord it was awful, some kind of thick black sauce, the green beans were greasy and the low mein had no taste. Absolutely the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The "crispy" fried wontons were not crispy at all, they were greasy and tasted vile. The same went for the crab rangoon. The pork fried was no better. Very dissatisfied, I may have well just set fire to the $25 I spent on lunch. read more

Been coming here for take out for about a year and a half now. Prices are in line with most Chinese restaurants. I've never had a terrible experience. Food is okay most of the time. I've seen them prepping the crab Rangoon at the front side counter while also eating lunch at the same counter. I question the sanitary practice of that. If you want ambiance go somewhere else. They did recently redecorate, but they painted the ceiling black... low ceiling. It feels dark and depressing, a bit dungeon like. If you want good Chinese Winchester will be closest. Came in with my family, service was alright, the guy that greeted us was pretty friendly but the woman taking all the orders was definitely one hundred percent done. Ordered 2 appetizers ( teriyaki steak on a stick and chicken rolls) the steak was not bad but a bit too sweet and over soy sauced; but edible. The chicken rolls were fine. For the entree dishes we got(chicken and mixed veggies, triple delight-minus the beef, and lo mien) The lo mien was good, and the triple delight was pretty good. Everything came out hot except for the chicken and mixed veggies. It was lukewarm-yuck. The cut of the chicken was obviously very cheap and looked as if it was boiled, also the coloring was sort of gray. The dish also smelled like iodine. Pretty gross in fact. Also the rice they served was undercooked. Honestly? Not thrilled. Told the people that the chicken and veggie dish tasted odd and they pretended like they didn't speak English and had no idea what we were talking about. How wonderful..not. This only gets one star because it makes me give one. WORST EVER and it is not just the food, the service is truly awful. They are beyond rude and slow. The prices are extremely high for a non-existent quality of food. To add to my frustration the owner had her son bring my drink to me, only he brought it to the wrong table. No big deal BUT the other patrons messed with my straw then told the owner it wasn't their drink which she then took from them and brought directly to me after having been touched by others!!! I just think that is gross. Bottomline if you want Chinese food in Front Royal go to the place in Martin's. Sounds weird, but it is good. read more

I wished I had checked yelp before we ordered from this place...We got takeout the other night here and the food was lacking in flavor, seemed like it had been reheated one too many times! We ordered two vegetarian dishes, a duck dish, and a pork dish...the veggies that should be green were brownish and limp...had been sitting in a sauce for so long that the texture was like eating oatmeal - it was hard to find duck in the dish at all, and the pork was dry and could have been old chicken. The soup was fatty and heavy - the only thing that was ok were the egg rolls - crisp but not really flavorful - pretty much 100% cabbage inside a fried wrapper. We had asked for "extra spicy" on several dishes - they did not seem to pay attention to those instructions - I guess you can't cook to order when obviously you're just taking old food and reheating it, though! And - we ordered 4 entrees and received one container of rice? I thought the restaurant may have just been having a bad night - this was Sunday during dinner hours. We won't be back - I would have been better off over-cooking a bag of stir-fry vegetables in the microwave and dumping bottled "stir-fry" sauce over it...and I would have saved $60. read more

The staff is very courteous. The layout is congenial. My only criticism of many of their dishes is that they are loaded with sugar and cloyingly sweet. They need to lighten up on the sugar and focus in savory dishes. read more
