I ordered the pu pu platter and it was pooh pooh! The shrimp toast was burned black. The ribs were not edible. I chewed and chewed but it was like shoe leather. I didn't try the egg rolls yet so I can't comment on them. The cheese wonton were good, nothing special. The beef teriyaki was leathery and cold. The chicken wings were tasty but the beading was way too thick. More breading than chicken. I will look for some other Chinese restaurant take out to try. This was awful. read more

We went here last night, 2/2/18 on the recommendation of a nail tech at Lams Nails. My boyfriend enjoyed his hot 'n sour soup and Szechuan chicken. I enjoyed the wonton soup, but trying to eat it with a small plastic spoon was not good. They made my Shrimp with Cashews wrong, and it had to be sent back. For dine in people, they need to give you real silverware. Found it very difficult to eat with small plastic ware. Also, please separate the rice from the main dish. I have always been pleased with the service and the food quality. Everything seems very fresh and I never feel gross after eating it so I know it does have many preservatives or MSG in it. Others have complained about the rice but I like the yellow rice and I find it is never greasy. I do prefer the veggie fried rice to the pork. You can't beat the cost, as previously mentioned in other reviews. Portions are generous. I will continue to be a regular. I did not give 5 stars because I believe 5 stars should be for unbelievable food. For a quick, cheap, Chinese joint, it is as good as they get. read more

By far, the best Chinese take-out in the Venice-Nokomis-Osprey area. As a chef, I am quite picky with what I eat. China King uses the freshest ingredients, has the most flavor, and gets my vote for best in the area. I don't understand some of the negative comments they received considering I have not had one bad meal from there in the over year and a half I've been going. They have the best crab rangoon in town and no it's not orange as stated by ridiculous reviewer. To the other comment about chewy ribs... if you want baby back ribs that fall off the bone, go to a bbq restaurant. Also, I know the owners well enough to know that they would correct anything you were not satisfied with. So if you made no attempt to remedy your situation, don't complain. read more

I gave this 5 stars given that they are a strip mall takeout place. Not really gourmet food but very good Cantonese takeout. Nice portions at very reasonable prices. Superior to other Cantonese takeout places we've tried in the Venice/Nokomis area. We have enjoyed several takeout meals from China King. We have found the food tasty and that it contains more vegetables than normally found in Chinese food. Fresh, crunchy vegetables, which are a treat. We ordered food earlier this week, which has been a disappointment. The meat seems to be of a much cheaper quality than in the past. The chicken was gray and slimy. It is in the garbage. Even the fried rice had taste and feeling of old oil. One lasting complaint we've had is that their fortune cookies are always stale. They definitely need a new provider. I hope this issue with the meat in our last order is just a brief hiccup because we have enjoyed meals from China King in the past. We will give them another try and hopefully be back to being fans. read more

It was absolutely disgusting. I got the chicken fried rice and it had no sauce on it at all, it was just chicken breast cut up and cooked. Their rice is a bright fluorescent yellow color that had no flavor (I'm very concerned as to why it was yellow.) Their crab Rangoon was a neon orange color. I'm not even sure if it was real Chinese food. Don't waste your time going. read more
