(Didn't have the heart to give this place 1 star...) This review is for my one time stop-in for a lunch carry out of a single dish - BEEF WITH DRIED BEAN CURD off their New Dishes Menu (see my pic of the New Dishes Menu and other pics I posted including of their regular menu). THIS DISH WAS SOOOO DISAPPOINTING - I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT AT ALL! Cannot comment on any of their other dishes but I was looking forward to digging into this dish - rarely do you see a basic local Chinese chain carry out with dried bean curd on the menu. Wellllllll.....I guess now I know why lol... I just happened to be in the area during lunchtime and decided to stop in, order a quick Chinese dish for carry out to bring home and eat. Beef dishes at carry out Chinese joints (frankly shrimp dishes too) can definitely be hit or miss on quality and taste. Typically, chicken, veggie and pork dishes are better bets. Really good Chinese places use beef that is fresh, tender, lean, and flavorful. Not the case here. I can definitely say the beef and bean curd used in this dish I ordered was VERY LOW QUALITY. That said, I would probably just STAY AWAY FROM ANY BEEF DISHES here. The beef was touch and inedible, cut into thick strips. You would think this place would be turning over their beef regularly which keeps the meat fresh - so it's concerning to me that the beef in the dish I got today was such poor quality. Definitely something to think about. The dried bean curd was also SUPER TOUGH AND HARD, not soft and chewy and with NO FLAVOR WHATSOEVER. Like shoe leather! The bean curd was also cut into thick strips and inedible. Take it from someone who knows good quality Chinese cuisine - yes, even from basic carry out chains like China King and Panda Express - you can find decent, "cheap eats" Chinese fare from places like this that serve hot, delicious dishes with fresh ingredients. Sadly, not here. :( DO NOT ORDER THE BEEF WITH DRIED BEAN CURD. See the pic I posted of this dish. $13.20 incl tax - no issue with portion size - if the dish had been tasty and delicious, it would have been well worth the price. Another rating 10 years from the last time I ordered. Gen tsao chicken and Singapore noodles. Verdict? Pretty darn quick and tasty! I ordered when I walked out of the Home Depot and by the time I drove to CK, it was already ready. The place look well kempt and clean. An older asian lady took my order and there was another front staff. An asian gentleman was at the wok cooking the food. There are a good amount of tables if you wanted to eat in. So the food. The chicken in the GT was huge chunks of dark meat tossed in a sweet slightly spicy sauce with some carrots and green peppers (nothing changed from a decade ago). I was pleasantly surprised how tasty the Singapore noodles was! It had just the right heat kick. $26 for a large portion of meals, not too shabby! read more

DROWNING IN BLAND SAUCE Ordered "Pork with Vegetables" from China King and what I got was a sad comedy show in a Styrofoam box. The pork? Thin, dry slices that looked like they'd been reheated three times and still begged for water. The "vegetables"? Mostly carrots--seriously, it felt like I ordered Carrots Deluxe with a side of disappointment. A couple of snow peas showed up, probably by accident, and then everything was drowned in a salty brown sauce so heavy it could've stripped paint. No balance, no flavor, just carrots swimming in sludge with pork jerky on top. If this is their idea of Chinese food, I'd hate to see what happens if you order something complicated. Save yourself the money--buy a bag of baby carrots, dump a bottle of soy sauce on them, and you'll have a better meal at home. read more

Generally agree with other reviews that this is an OK spot for Chinese takeaway - the menu is mostly Americanized with your standard General Tso, Lo Mein, Chow Fun, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Spring Rolls, etc. The pricing is pretty reasonable for the convenience and portion, especially the lunch special combinations (which include a spring/egg roll and fried rice). The service is friendly and quick. I'd come back here for a quick take out order if I'm in the area. read more

Found out when I got there that they accepts only Cash almost all the time for some reason.

Sweet and sour chicken had a weird breading, sesame chicken was basically a super sweet bbq sauce but not in a good way. We also had an eggroll and spring rolls, both were so greasy and not in your traditional wonton paper. Lastly our stomachs were in knots later that night and we know it has to be from the food given the overly greasy and not great tasting food. read more

Yesterday, September 30, 2024 I went with my granddaughter to pick-up several dishes of Chinese food from the China King in Sterling. The time was 10:55 A.M. The door was unlocked and we entered and the cashier told us to get out because they do not open until 11AM. We exited and stood outside by the door in the rain for 5 minutes. The cashier was capricious and hateful, and she needs a lesson on customer service. The food is O.K. but the employees are rude. read more

It was very unsanitary in the resturant and I am a clean freak and I didnt like that. Also I saw their meat and veggies sitting outside for a while in the back of the restaurant which I thought was odd. But that's all I have to say because it just didn't seem edible to me. After being disappointed by countless other Chinese takeout spots in the area, I really got to give it to China King. I've been coming to their different locations for about 10 years and they are consistently good now that I have figured out what I like here. The value is great. It's casual and fast. Lady at the counter is nice. Not the best I've ever had, but solid value and consistency makes this my favorite go to in the area when I don't want to venture far to get my favorite. ...and the icing on the cake, China King has the BEST egg rolls in town. Seriously, I've been on an egg roll kick lately, and I've been trying them all. Most places have crappy egg rolls, with just cabbage or some boring mix. I really like their chicken of 4 seasons and always want to go there when we are in northern va.

We just called in dinner to their Sterling and had a terrible experience I have been going to China King for so many years but after finding a BUG, in the Chicken and Broccoli the have lost a long time customer for good. It was literal , a half carcass of a beetle or something similar and here's the proof. BEWARE, seriously!!!!! And when my husband called to tell them all they could say is you want another one. This place is one to avoid . Order shrimp fried rice and it was bad . Taste like boiled rice no flavor ( I'm sure it's frozen food ) , and a disappointment from packaging to no even a fortune cookie or chop sticks or a fork . Call and ask for a refund but they said will do it only if I drive the food back to them ... Will never go back there . What a mistake , food when to the truck can . I had the dumplings. They had one type, pork. Steamed or fried. I got 8 of each. They were not good. I do not recommend them. The service was fine, but location could use a face lift. Bathroom is in horrible shape. Look for others options in this area. Easy parking. read more

Best Chinese food I've had in the Ashburn/Leesburg area! My husband and I are Chinese food lovers, so we have tried almost every place in the area since moving here. Every place we've had has been disappointing. BUT China King is so good! I personally love their fried rice! We get the general tso (extra spicy) and the sesame chicken and have never been disappointed. The vegetable rolls are super good too! I definitely recommend this wonderful place! Umm well although the pricing is fair the food is not great. We ordered shrimp with veggies and the shrimp were itty bitty tiny pieces, they are similar to frozen ones you can get at Walmart. The orange chicken was 40% chicken and 60 the stuff they coat it with I guess. The beef king pao was not great. Only celery was added and the beef was very hard. And sesame chicken is the same as orange just with the seeds of course. I wouldn't recommend honestly. But you can try and see maybe other dishes are better. read more

I ordered a General Tso's Chicken and an eggroll, my acid test of an Americanized Chinese resturaunt. The eggroll was very greasy and bland. The good thing about China King is their prices. You really can't beat it. Some times for dinner, you just don't want a large portion. Most Chinese take out places have a lunch and dinner prices. China is one price all day long. These one sized meals are enough for either lunch or dinner. I also like the fact they are serving some dishes you can't find at too many places. Things like dried bean curd and pork, and ja jiang mein. Yes this place is a chain, but I have noticed that of all the locations I've been to, the food taste the same. On this trip, I had the dried bean curd and pork. I can't find this dish at too many places. Their version is pretty good, not the best I've had, but still good. I can't complain. =) I've also had their chicken and cashews, a nice americanized dish, but still tasty. The people here are nice, the service is fast. What more can you ask for. The food at China King is always cooked fresh and is dirt cheap! The General Tso's chicken is under $8 compared to other places in the area that charge $13+. The food isn't the best, but you really can't beat the value. There is always a steady flow of business, mostly takeout, and the restaurant itself is clean. My only gripe is how cheap they are about giving extras such as containers, plates, or sauces. They always act like it's a hassle to provide more. I guess that's how they keep prices so low. Our regular orders include General Tso, Black Pepper Steak, which is flank steak with onions and broccoli and just a ton of pepper sprinkled on toplo mein (their version is noodles without all the normal shredded veggies), fried won tons, and/or spring rolls. read more
