Ordered online a couple of egg rolls. They are so small they look 1/2 size and taste is fair. For just a couple egg rolls I'll go to Panda Express twice the size, taste far better and the same cost. I've tried a lot of the menu items but by far my favorite are: hot and sour soup, singapore mai fun, any lo mein, the appetizers, chicken and broccoli, and i'm sure there are more those are just my main choices. Extremely disappointed with the customer service and understanding the ingredients in the food. I called to ask simple questions of the ingredients in their food and they had absolutely no understanding what I was even speaking of. When you are speaking to people upon the food they are purchasing and selling this food to them you should know every single ingredient in their food and be able to understand the person on the phone. If they can't, then they should be able to put someone on the phone that does understand. Yet they didn't. I understand ordering from other culture restaurants we need to understand, but at the same time if it can kill someone they need to be able to answer the question. It's not fair for them to just say "ok then don't order". I understand it can be difficult having allergies or requests of asking what the ingredients are but that shouldn't be an issue. read more

Probably my favorite Asian restaurant. I like that they only use fresh veggies, not canned or frozen. Well seasoned. Their hot soups are probably one of their standout specialities. You can choose between white, brown or fried rice, and rice or wheat, thin or medium wide noodles. Highly recommended. read more

The food taste and timing was amazing, honestly we loved ordering from this spot but after tonight unfortunately we will never order from here again. We ordered a little out of our usual and got a secrete ingredient. A little sliver of sheet metal...The lack of attention to what's being cooking is alarming and I can only wonder what else we have ingested without knowing. Today must have been one of their off days. I've been here other times, but today everything just seemed off. Tonight we ordered chicken and mixed veggies and dried tofu and pork. This order was for take out. When I got home, the 1st thing i noticed was the dried tofu and pork was wrong. I have never in my life had this dish prepared the way it was today. I have had this dish here before and it was never prepared this way. In fact, it didn't even look like the picture on the wall. This basically tasted like white onions. It totally took away the flavor of the pork and dried tofu. It's just suppose to be pork, dried tofu, and green onions. It had the green onions, but also a ton if other onions. The chicken and mixed veggies were very bland and had a strong garlic taste. To top if off, the rice was super dry. I only live a few minutes away, it wasn't sitting out for a long time. I guess everybody is allowed to have an off day, but why on my clock. Haha read more

Ordered delivery from here a few times. Food isn't bad. I wouldn't say I'm crazy about it but it's the closest to my house and prices are decent. Some of the classics I order are the egg rolls, mongolian beef, kung pao chicken & shrimp, and the combo lo mein. I've also had their shrimp in lobster sauce which was ok but too much sauce. Always go for the steamed fried rice as opposed to the white rice. It's a dollar more but a healthier alternative. I haven't tried the other Chinese places in Ashburn so it looks like this one wins by default although its certainly average. Maybe I'll have to explore other options if I can find one that delivers! read more

I really appreciate the fact that Hunan Cafe is still open during the whole pandemic. They put a lot of safety measures like no contact delivery, build a wall in the middle of restaurant, and etc. I love their food too! I know restaurants have some challenges during the pandemic, but this particular business really needs to work on their operations - and most especially their customer service. We placed an order online, and I went to pick it up. When I entered, I had to remain behind a plexiglass wall (Covid protection), while the restaurant personnel are sitting at the original counter, a few yards back. I had to wait for TWENTY minutes, before I was given any attention or even acknowledged at all. During that time, I was very clearly visible to the proprietress, as well as the delivery person who walked right past me on his way out to a delivery. There was ample eye contact - and they still ignored me. The wait wasn't due to the order, either, as it turned out the order was ready when I got there. Of course, I didn't know that and I couldn't get to that order because it was behind the 'wall'. In the end, they weren't the least bit interested in attending to the customer that was very CLEARLY standing/sitting, trying to get attention to pick up his order. We won't be ordering again.There's plenty of other places who actually care about their customers - even during a pandemic. read more

Ordered my food for delivery at 4:50pm, it's 6:50pm and I still have not received it. I called once at 6:01pm to check the status of my order and was told that the driver was on his way. Then I called again at 6:31pm to check again on the status of my order and apparently the delivery driver was in the kitchen cooking because they put deliveries on hold to work on walk in orders. That makes no sense to me at all. The crispy beef is great here but I definitely will not be back again if I have to wait over 2 hours for my food. This is extremely bad customer service. read more

I ordered a hot and sour soup on my 30 minute lunch break over the phone the lady barely understood me, mumbled something at the end and hung up. and when I got there the lady said CASH only. I only had my card. She refused to make and exception as if I didn't have money lol. Not only that but this is my third chance giving this place and they failed miserably. The food is always cold when I get it. It's probably not sanitary either being that the cooks chain smoke in the back all day and come right back in to cook. By far the best restaurant we've gone to! The food is amazing. Its still fresh and warm every time it was delivered to my house! I love their egg rolls, although, they're small but it came with two. Love their soups and those crunchy-noodles that came with it! Their pad-thai and lo mein are very well made! And the costumer service were great! Wanted delivery on a Sunday night and our usual place was closed. Decided to give Hunan Cafe a try even though we'd never been. Really good first impression. My husband and I ordered the veggie rolls, vegetable noodle soup, Kung Pao chicken, and Sesame chicken. Instead of being thick and syrup-y, the sauce on the Sesame chicken was very light and flavorful. We were most impressed by the very fresh and high-quality ingredients - like the fresh bamboo chunks in the Kung Pao and homemade noodles in the soup. The chicken was all white meat with absolutely no fatty pieces. Also, the portion sizes were above average. Side note: the bottom of the delivery bag was lined in cardboard; the noodles were kept separate from the soup so as not to get soggy; and everything was served in high-quality plastic tubs instead of the flimsy paper containers. This may be our new go-to Chinese delivery. read more

For the most part, their food has been pretty good, better than most Chinese take-out places. The vegetable spring rolls are consistently good if small. The Hot and Sour soup used to be really good, but lately it's been prepared with way too much starch. We are never disappointed by their fried rices or their Lo Meins. Any dishes with vegetables are typically good, because they seem to use fresh veggies. The sauteed bean sprouts are great, and they give you a lot. Shrimp and scallop dishes have been uniformly great. Some of the dishes are real misses. I just tried Ma Po's Tofu for the first time, and it was basically inedible. On the other hand, I really liked the the General Tso's Tofu. If you find some things you like, stick with those, and you'll probably remain happy. That may explain some of the uneven ratings here. Actually, we really like this place, but then we tend to order the same things each time, and their delivery times to our place in Tavistock Farms are faaast. read more

We tried this place out the other day because it's important to try new things. Now that we got the trying part out of the way there is only a fleeting chance we will go again. We got our usual Chinese food order; General Tso's, Fried Rice, Egg Roles, and Lo Mein. Lets grade... Lo Mein = B+, the tastiest item we ordered. Nicely cook with good flavor. Too bad it goes downhill from here. Egg Rolls = C, tasty but greasy and thin on stuffing Fried Rice = C, tasty but missing the stuff you fry with the rice. You know, the goodies. Not enough little shrimpies, low on egg content. The things that make these good. General Tso's = D-, The heart of the meal was also the heart if the disappointment. Chicken pieces resembled the same chicken pieces expected of a Sweet and Sour dish. The sauce was thin and runny. We're big fans of Chinese and I hate to always compare the Leesburg spots to Jasmine's but that still remains the place to go for Chinese; if only the could do something about rising delivery fees. read more

We've ordered the standards - fried rice, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, beef and broccoli, spring rolls. I have no complaints about the food. I like that they don't add MSG, since I have an allergy to it - a lot of Chinese places do (or say they don't and do). Delivery is very quick! We've never gotten a wrong order. Depending on who answers the phone, sometimes there is confusion while placing the order, but the food gets here quickly and correctly. read more
