I don't know if it's the local economy or competing shops, China Village is one of several stores still operating in the shopping center. I bet the (new) Lotte Asian grocery store will bring lots of traffic when it opens up. Until then, China Village has to continue relying on its food, friendly service, and no nonsense way of ordering and serving its patrons. We ordered egg-rolls for appetizer, and pork with garlic sauce, eggplants, and seafood combination. Really the food is pretty good (as you would expect from a shopping center restaurant). They're reasonably priced. Only thing that's a bit odd is how the food is served on paper plates. The restaurant is clean and convenient. They have the faux chicken general Tso's, which is nice. I got four meals out of mine! Seems to be pretty average Chinese food, flavorful enough. Hubs liked his regular general tso's too. They get the fifth star because they actually have a decent sit down area with booths. Win! read more

Ordered Egg foo young it was ok but lacked flavor no salt or no pepper the beef was there but didn't see any bean sprouts as almost all egg foo young's have, a staple ingredient. It did have a lot of onion slivers. The price was too high for basically an (3)omelette w/ beef $13.00. I really enjoy egg foo young one of my favorites this was egg foo yuck. This restaurant first came to my attention when I was looking through one of those envelopes filled with coupons that come in the mail. After seeing it, my next step was to check the Yelp reviews, which turned out to be decent. We were here on a Saturday around 5 p.m. Upon entering, we noticed that there were a few occupied tables and plenty of places to sit. The ordering process is set up this way---you go to the counter with the registers and place your order. As we approached the counter, the very friendly woman working there welcomed us and asked if we had been here before. We told her that this was our first visit and had heard good things about them. We gave her our order, then showed her the coupon. With what we spent, we had a choice of free egg rolls or a free sugar doughnut. My husband chose the egg rolls. She cut out that coupon and returned the rest to us. There is a refrigerated case and we grabbed a bottle of water which was rung up with our order. I debated as to whether this place was 3 or 4 stars. Finally, I decided on 4 stars---mainly for the very friendly and welcoming service. We ordered 2 hot and sour soups, 1 order of chicken wings, 1 order of garlic chicken and 1 order of vegetable lo mein. With the bottle of water included, it came to $31 + change. After ordering, you choose where you want to sit. When your food is ready, it's brought to your table. Also, silverware, plates and napkins are brought to you. The hot and sour soup came out very quickly. The soup had a generous amount of stock. However, it was rather bland. With hot and sour soup, you expect there to be some heat. We only noticed the heat in the last spoonful. One small misstep --- the vegetable lo mein came out while we were eating our soup, which was odd. Next, the chicken wings came out. They arrived to the table piping hot and very meaty and crispy. We both enjoyed them. The free egg rolls were quite decent. We liked that they weren't greasy and had good flavor. The vegetable lo mein had all the expected flavors in it with a generous amount and a good variety of veggies. I liked that the broccoli was tender crisp. The portion was huge and I ended up taking some home with me. My husband had the garlic chicken and really liked it. Sometimes, garlic chicken barely tastes of garlic but this one had a good amount of it, which my husband enjoyed. He, too, ended up taking some home. When we were ready to leave, we grabbed some to go containers. Right after we did that, the woman who took our order noticed and brought to our table a plastic bag for the containers. We were impressed! The staff was also very good about clearing away plates as we ate. There is a tip jar by the register and after we ate, my husband put some money in and he was thanked for doing so. We would eat here again. I do hope that the hot and sour soup is better next time, as the lack of spiciness may have been a fluke. We overheard a group at another table telling one of the employees that they liked the spiciness in their dish, so it appears that they do know how to properly spice the spicy food items. Returned for the first time since covid to get takeout. Delicious food as always, and made quickly. Portions are really generous and the food is reasonably priced. I was impressed by their contactless system. Front door leading to the small atrium is open so you don't have to touch the door handle. Inner door leading to the (closed) dining room has no handle so people can't go in. Orders are placed inside on a table visible from the outside. Point to your order, and on their end they'll slide it into a Plexiglass box Hannibal Lecter style, then they pull a rope to open the top of the box so you can retrieve your order. You are always separated from them by a wall. I felt very safe ordering from here. To the person complaining about being charged for the sauce: Their website clearly (and politely) states that customers should add all requests to the order when you submit your order. I imagine that they are operating with a skeleton crew, so you yelling through the wall at them for your sauce causes them inconvenience as they'll have to go back into the kitchen to complete your request. That person is probably also juggling 10 other tasks. Shame on you for leaving a bad review at this time when so many restaurants are struggling. read more

I have been a customer for 5+ years and typically never had any issues until this week. I placed a carryout order over the phone and when my husband went to pick it up (30 mins later), the owner said they didn't have our order and went to look in the kitchen as well. Another customer had left with our order and the owner called me back and said that our order was actually in the kitchen this whole time LOL. We actually saw a customer walking back into the restaurant with an order and right then was when the owner called me to tell me they actually "found" it. How can they even offer to give me my order after someone took it and probably opened it to realize it's not the right one? I called them out on it, and the owner tried arguing with me, wouldn't listen to what I had to say, and just hung up. I don't think they practice clean protocols and if someone took my order, they could have just stated that without openly stating that it wasn't in the kitchen, then say it is, and have the nerve to be rude to me about it! I have ordered twice through their app for delivery and disappointed both times. The first time I placed an order and after 1 hour I asked when I could expect delivery. I was told "it's in its way". After another 30 minutes I called again "it's on its way". After waiting a total of 1 hour and 59 minutes I canceled the order. Order 2, placed order at 5:18 pm. After one hour I called the delivery service for a status and was told the order had not processed. I then called the restaurant and they said it was in its way. I waited 30 minutes called the restaurant. They contacted the driver and he said he knocked and left the food on the porch. I checked the porch, no food and no one knocked or rang the bell. I think the driver left the food at the wrong house. The owner cooked the order again and we did a pickup. If their orange chicken and sesame chicken were not so darn good my review would have been 1 star. In the future I need to call the restaurant and ask what time is delivery. Their online ordering is flawed. THEN AT PICKUP- Now we had to wait again! They prepared the wrong order. This is rediculous it has now been OVER 2 HOURS SINCE I FIRST PLACED THE ORDER AND STILL WAITING FOR DINNER. Mt estimate once I get home it will have been 2 hours and 30 minutes wait to have dinner. Our recent return to the DC area meant that we needed to find a go-to Chinese Restaurant close to our new home. China Village is a short ride for pick-up or delivery. We tried other places first and were very glad to find China Village and we have been ordering at least 2 or 3 times a month since. Our order always includes a dish of mei-fun (rice noodles) with chicken sometimes with vegetables, sometime not. This time I ordered for delivery and ordered over $50.00 for the three of us. The food has always been quite to our liking, that is until we tasted the mei-fun. The Moo Shu and Shrimp w/ Lobster sauce were fine, the rice noodles tasted like they were cooked in dishwater. They were inedible and are headed out with the trash tomorrow. Since the noodles are a mainstay of our order, we will be ordering from elsewhere. read more

First of all, let me say that the food is great .. made with fresh ingredients and portions are generous. The only food related complaint is .. no matter how many times you ask them to make it "EXTRA EXTRA SPICY", it just doesn't happen. It's barely spicy at all. I used to call my orders in without issue until I received Hunan Beef instead of Szechuan Beef. When I called to let them know a mistake was made (thinking they might've accidentally switched bags when packing), I was met with an incredibly argumentative tone and her insistence I ordered Hunan Beef NOT Szechuan Beef. Mind you, I am giving feedback not complaining. When I assured her that due to a food allergy, I wouldn't have ordered Hunan Beef without special instructions, she persisted. Finally I told her that I didn't call to argue with her but alert her to a small mistake.
