Exactly what you'd expect from a tiny Chinese restaurant in the middle of a tiny town.

Better than expected. It really is a surprise to find any decent food around here. New China is one…read moreof the few Chinese options in Streator. Has a lot of basic items. They also have a few vegetarian ones such as tofu. After heading north along the main road, we stopped in. It wasn't busy even at lunch. That could have been a bad sign. Has most of the typical Chinese American items. We got the Mongolian Tofu. It's about $8 for a lot. This came with not quite crispy tofu. It still had good flavor. The vegetables were mostly onions and peppers. Good amount for the price because you get a lot. It used to have a buffet, but it doesn't seem to anymore so it's just the regular menu. The food may be pretty average, but there's a few good things for vegans and vegetarians.

The daily specials are great for trying something that you may not already be familiar with. General Tso, Sweet-sour, Lo Mein, the staples have all been great. The shrimp dinner had an amazing number of shrimp, I was really surprised. Tonight, I'll be sure to get an extra cocktail sauce serving. I'm frequently in Streator and New China has become a go to for Chinese take-out -- also handy when you're looking for some left-overs for breakfast. The egg rolls have become a mandory appetizer. The service is realiable and the orders have been dependably filled to spec. The menu a wide. This is not fine dining, strictly takeout, but there's plenty of parking and it's accessable off the west side of Bloomington Street on the north side of Streator. Adding on that I've only been here through the pandemic, so I'm not sure what the "regular" restaurant is like... this is only for take out.

Hubs tends…read moreto be more picky, however if you spend money on take out food,it should be consistently great each time when you choose to return and pay money for it again. Food was ok this time ,not consistently great- sweet and sour chicken was a very small portion for the $ we spent, and it had fluorescent reddish pink sauce to pour on it- no pineapple or veggies? Beef egg foo young was very thin, and had a funky taste to it. Total was 61.20 -later I saw on my bank app that I was charged 63.04- wasn't reflected on my bill or receipt . I don't appreciate deception and taking my money. I'm done with this business. Plenty of other places to order from . And as others have stated, it is rather gross that they have junk stacked up all over, like the place is their storage unit. Back to Rising Sun where it IS consistently great.

When I called about it, the man on the phone was very curt and disrespectful. He informed me that the chicken was fresh every day and that they have been in business for 13 years! So? No apology, no offer to remake anything.... You just lost my business. Your food and your attitude stinks.

Vianna Yang has apparently been a staple within the community, with their presence spanning over many decades. While other nearby restaurants serve dense and greasy American food, I can always rely on Vianna Yangs to provide me with some comforting flavors. I really love the owners of the restaurant. I've had a chance to sit and chat about their business, why they moved to Gibson City. I'm now recognized when I walk in! Although the owners were originally from China, their menu is entirely Americanized Chinese food. No problems on my end, I love this food. All options here are affordable and come in very large portions. I think they do a great job with their fried rice and their chicken and shrimp dishes. I even was introduced to the "Dragon and Phoenix", which is a dish that contains both! Everything has a good balance of sweet and savory, and as mentioned previously, portions are huge! I can turn most meals into 2 portions. Overall, this restaurant is a bit old fashioned. The interior decor could use a little work and they only accept cash. However, I think this is all very fitting with the rest of the town! Gibson City itself is pretty old fashioned, Vianna Yangs fits right in.

I also ordered from the "diet section" that had no salt no oil I chose chicken with pea pods and white rice. The chicken was tender and the pea pods were fresh with a little crisp when you bit into them. The serving was huge and there had to be a pound of pea pods. I was so impressed! I brought home leftovers that will last me 2 more meals. The staff were friendly and answered questions about the ingredients. I am very impressed and will be going back often!
