We order from here every once in a while,and I have to say it's like a love/hate thing. Hubs tends to be more picky, however if you spend money on take out food,it should be consistently great each time when you choose to return and pay money for it again. Food was ok this time ,not consistently great- sweet and sour chicken was a very small portion for the $ we spent, and it had fluorescent reddish pink sauce to pour on it- no pineapple or veggies? Beef egg foo young was very thin,and had a funky taste to it. Total was 61.20 -later I saw on my bank app that I was charged 63.04- wasn't reflected on my bill or receipt . I don't appreciate deception and taking my money. I'm done with this business. Plenty of other places to order from . And as others have stated, it is rather gross that they have junk stacked up all over, like the place is their storage unit. Back to Rising Sun where it IS consistently great. read more

The food is lousy. We ordered chicken fried rice and the chicken was tough and tasted "old". I understand using leftovers but if they have been sitting in the refrigerator for a while, it gets a funky taste. When I called about it, the man on the phone was very curt and disrespectful. He informed me that the chicken was fresh every day and that they have been in business for 13 years! So? No apology, no offer to remake anything.... You just lost my business. Ok - after 6 years of going to this place I have finally had it. I'm done. My wife wants Chinese on occasion and it used to be fast - like order it and by the time you are there it's ready. Now on average the order takes at least 40 minutes if you order online - even though it says thirty minutes it's never 30 minutes. I swear they make it when you walk in for it. Today it took 45 minutes and they got the order wrong. Again. The food is mediocre at best and in top of everything since Covid they make you stand in the doorway and they block the dining room with a table. I get it if you want to be safe, but you can see them in the kitchen cooking maskless. Which means they don't want to protect you. They want to protect themselves from you. They are always kind but they don't make an effort to make the experience even OK. Recommendations for the owner (if they care): - actually deliver the order on time - if you want customers to wear masks wear them when you are cooking - if you want to use the dining room as a messy warehouse / living room - make it so customers don't see the mess - find a better place for people to wait as opposed to herding them together in the doorway - people are forced to wait outside in WINTER I would say I expect this place to go out of business but it's the only Chinese place close by and surprisingly the only restaurant in manteno that won't go out of business - probably because they keep costs low by not investing in the business whatsoever. read more

Really long wait...for rice , noodles, and soup! An hour and fifteen minutes. Myself and five other customers waiting for their orders. No Apologies from the owners! The prices have really gone up, and they charge a fee to use the debit/credit card. I was told my order was 36.00, but I was charged $40 on my receipt. The fee for the card was $1.43, so was the rest taxes? It wasn't listed. I was too tired to dispute. Food was not hot when I got home. It really seems like the owners just don't care. When you walk in it feels like you're still in the fourth month of Covid. There's a reason you shouldnt have a mess like that in the lobby of your restaurant. I can only imagine what the back looks like. I was told 20 minutes for my order and when I got there and paid for my food I still waited another 15. I couldn't tell if my sesame chicken was freezer burnt or just old. First off, the woman who took our order was incredibly rude and impatient. After getting our order home, I took a bite to reveal what looks like a plastic straw wrapper in the center. Went back to the restaurant with the chicken to get a full refund. The same lady was super unapologetic and rude about the whole thing. All I can say is disappointing. There are no words for the shock and sadness I felt at discovering they do not have orange chicken. I was forced to try something new and I hate them. The general Taos chicken is abnormally large and the broccoli is lumpy. Strongly advise against the crab Rangoon s. They taste like a mixture of mayonnaise and discharge. The only saving grace of this whole meal was the white rice. I like white rice. I just want to say: Shane on you Rusing sun!!! Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." Food is tasty but like other reviews the 13/14 year old that took my order was beyond rude. Mildly annoying that no menu was available either here or online either I fixed that and took photos for everyone. Although I suggest ordering from the mom of this family run place. Had it not been 23rd of December and a house full of people waiting I would have gone somewhere else. Pretty decent for a Chinese takeout. I've had various things from Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and Egg Foo Young and they were alright - standard. My office usually orders Chinese Food from here because it's the only Chinese food place around. The hot & sour soup isn't bad either. I've had some pretty bad Chinese takeout food and this one is far away from that. When you call to place an order, their son/daughter usually picks up; definitely better speaking English than the parents but man, they sound like they're bored to death. read more

I cannot believe this place and I'm reporting then to the better business bureau. This is the third time that they got my order wrong no big deal mistakes happen but they hAve always refused to fix them. I don't think they have a business licence they dont abide by the correct hours on their window and the father keeps on abusing the kids in the waiting room. I will never go to this place again do i have a choice of negative 2000 stars cause thats what i give them. I am reporting them to the better business bureau and also family services. Oh and i was a regular customer too. They refused to fix my order. This place is a joke. The mom does all the work and i will applaud her but the father is evil. My wife and I have been going here for 4 or 5 years. It's solid. The food is always ready for pick up in 15 minutes or less, and they're always super courteous. I don't believe they have ever messed up our order, even just a little bit. They are a small family run business and they work their tails off to provide our hometown with a good Chinese option. If you're looking for the world's best Chinese, this isn't for you. I'm always nervous about eating at Chinese restaurants because I tend to get something that tastes a little fishy... But I have to say that I've really enjoyed everything I've eaten at this place. The hot and sour soup is fantastic! I also enjoy the hunan pork, kung pao chicken and the fried rice. Even my toddler who is very picky likes the fried rice. All their vegetables are fresh. They are always super busy, sometimes when you call you get a busy tone for minutes. Just try again in a few minutes. I ordered from here wanting to try this spot because not all Chinese restaurants are good. Being that I travel alot eating from different restaurants is apart of trucking. I only order shrimp fried rice and an egg roll. The shrimp fried rice was the worst I've ever had. Real shrimp fried rice doesn't have peas and carrots and even if there was the taste was not what I expected. My egg roll had overcooked cabbage in it so it was mushy. I work at the VA in Manteno, and the NEW CHINA carryout place off of Rt. 50 in Manteno is a business that needs to rethink how they treat our veterans. The VA is at the most 2 miles away, and it takes them a minimum of 2 hours to get their food there. Once it was over 2 1/2 hours, and one of my patients (a diabetic) had to eat, and told the delivery person to take the food back. They won't even accept his call anymore. I am forced to call for him now, and I can tell you from personal experience how rude they are. I apologized that I wasn't able to understand what they were saying, and she snapped back -- "I CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU EITHER!" They are the only Chinese business in town and if that's the food they want, the veterans have no choice. In addition, their order must be $10.00 or more to have it delivered. PLEASE *** we need to send them a message they do understand..... A major hit to their profit line. read more

I have eaten at New China twice in the past week and I'm a huge fan! I've had the Orange chicken and Sweet & Sour lunch combos and both times it was excellent! The crab Rangoon is amazing! I'm one of those that if I have Chinese food once every 3 months and don't crave it again for a while, but this place makes me want it every week. I have plans to try more items on the menu. Small place, typical Chinese food but excellent so far. Prices are reasonable. read more
