Yeah... no. Do NOT go to this restaurant, even if you're desperate for a stomach ache. We should have left and you should t even consider it. Feel free to stop reading, or, if you're a glutton for punishment, continuing reading! This place got solid reviews, and, being disappointed with other Chinese cuisine in town, we decided to give it a shot. I gave them a call for a carry out, which was answered while an alarm of some sort was going off in the background. Looking back, that should have been my sign to stop what I was doing, but I persevered and made my order -- certainly enough to feed 4 people. She said it would be done in 25-30 minutes. So me and my father-in-law rolled up and I shared a story of how the restaurant next door had been shut down at least once for a health code violation. He jokingly said "so we chose our dinner spot to be the place next door!?" ... but then we walked in. The place didn't seem too out of the ordinary, except that there was food debris everywhere on the ground and just straight up garbage that was never picked up. We both looked at each other but proceeded to the counter. She couldn't find our order, but eventually found a copy in the kitchen -- they hadn't started it 30 minutes after my initial call. So we sat down in restaurant and waited. We saw plenty of strange things -- one being that the number advertised on their website, the number on their menu, and the number of the door were all different. Another being the delivery driver coming back, commenting that the place was a mess, but just sitting down at a table and not picking up any of the mess. And a final seeing a cook in the back using his hands to mix just about everything and not washing them in between dishes. As we were checking out, my father in law asked me to grab some sauces. I started digging around in the basket of sauces and accidentally grabbed a live, 3-inch grasshopper that flew across the room once I touched it. So the place was gross and the staff overlooked lots of important details for a successful/clean restaurant, but we got home (5min drive) and the food did NOT seem fresh. I posted a photo of what we got -- both the fried and white rice was room temp, which is just asking for bacteria growth, the General Tso's chicken was cold inside and the egg rolls were greasy and also room temperature. But of course the soup was boiling lava hot, enough to scald my father in law. After what we saw and our experience, we chose to take the "test" bites and throw the rest away and go to Chipotle instead. We wasted over $40 on food that night. Amazingly frustrating, but certainly not worth getting sick over. I wish all the best for the owners and staff of the restaurant, but this place shouldn't exist. They failed on so many levels. read more

Worst place EVER! I waited 1 and a half on delivery one night and than called and they said another 25 mins so I cancelled order. Yet again I figured I would try, I ordered and they said 35 mins. I waited 45 and called and ask and they said another 30 minutes. What's worse is the owner gets mad at ME for cancelling the orders! Like, they didn't offer a discount or anything,they were just rude and said they won't deliver anymore. How is this my fault? They need to get it together read more

Great food especially the Orange Tofu! We ordered the large family meal and there was plenty to go around, plus take home! There are only a couple of tables since it is mostly a take out place. They do NOT use MSG which is awesome! The lady who took our order gave us lots of great ordering advice and helped us enjoy our dine in experience! We will come again! read more

This is the best Chinese food we have found in Harrisonburg! I lived all over and finding good Chinese is so hard. So happy we found this place. A wonderful family owns it as well. Personally favorites are lo mien and beef & broccoli. read more

This place doesn't deserve one star. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, Going hungry would be a better alternative. Without doubt the worst food we've ever eaten. Everything is drenched in industrial brown salt sauce. Most of the sweet and sour chicken had NO chicken in it, just fried batter, when we did find chicken it was tiny little pieces no bigger than a pinky nail. The dipping sauce was an artificial colored red goo. The beef in my Hunan Beef was slimy. The vegetable lomain was over cooked and pastey, had virtually no vegetables and was also swimming in that brown salt sauce. All you taste is SALT. They even screwed up the steamed veggies with chicken, chicken was slimy. We should have know this was going to be a bad experience when we drove up, the parking lot was littered with trash. I received a flyer for China Palace in the mail about a year ago, and they instantly became my go-to Chinese restaurant in town! I have tried a variety of items on their menu and, believe me, everything is to die for! Excellent quality, whether I order delivery or take-out I always receive the friendliest service, and their prices can't be beat. Best Chinese in Harrisonburg, hands down!!!! read more

Ordered the Hunan Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice. It was ready for carryout in the time promised. The former entree was average and met expectations while the latter did not. In fact most of it was discarded when we got it home. Based on just this one visit, I will probably try another similar option in town with hopefully better results. read more
