Great Chinese food. I would say best jam bbong in town- spicy Korean seafood soup. Really nice dept of flavor. The basil beef is my favorite because it has a nice strong basil flavor. The wife likes the crispy walnuts shrimp because they don't over batter the shrimp like many other places. So you get a nice ratio of shrimp to fried wrappings and they candy the walnuts. Wife also likes Chinese scallion pancakes because it's a nice texture. This time we ordered the Mongolian lamb and Hunan lamb. We preferred the Mongolian lamb because there was more lamb and Hunan lamb has broccoli(I'm not too big on broccoli). The crispy fried jumbo shrimp was good and I liked how they gave us spicy mustard sauce (wasabi hot). Service is pretty good. read more

This review is for takeout. We ordered online Friday night and were able to pick up our food in about 25 minutes. The restaurant is on the main drive in Montecito and has about 10 parking spaces in their lot. We ordered: 1. Vegetable low mein- noodles were cooked well, no flavor 2. Orange peeled chicken- flavor was OK, texture was a bit hard/dry 3. Hot and sour soup- it wasn't good, had a very strange consistency and no flavor 4. Seafood fried rice- greasy, flavorless Overall our dinner was incredibly disappointing, nothing tasted like anything, soy sauce and chili didn't even help. Not sure if there's other Chinese food options, but take your chances with a different restaurant or type of food. Will not be returning. read more

It's going from bad to worse. Been going for years, it's on my way home from work, very close where I shop for groceries- would love a good Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese in the area. I keep trying cause it's so convenient, but I kick myself everything I go. Not fresh, taste/looks like it's been sitting around for days. Kung Pao was not hot, only a couple chilies (chewy, not fresh), chicken not fresh. Egg rolls tasted like chemicals, maybe left out while cleaning- seriously! Won ton soup had 2 won tons in just a salty broth, not even a sprinkle of green onion.. nice people but they are always eating in the dining room, then handling money and food- visibly not washing hands, then sitting back down to eat again. Ok, this place deserves 4 stars, affordable fresh easy to eat Chinese food. Bean strings were al Dante like they should with great sauce. Soup dumpling were good but most of them did not have the soups inside :) The chicken chima I was good but I would make the chicken portion larger in side but thinner, the vegetable and noodles were very good. Crispy pancake and egg roll were made to crisp and had just enough moisture to blend well with the sweet sauce. Overall great experience and location for us ! read more

When you've gone through two days of moving and are way to tired and lazy to make dinner, what is your go to take-out? For us, it was Chinese food from China Palace. My boyfriend was easily able to order appetizers and entrees for us to share from DoorDash. We decided to order: cream cheese wontons, Hot and sour soup, BBQ pork chow mein, orange peel chicken, side of white rice and wontons crisps (I put these on the soup). Personally I am not a huge fan of the side sauces, but according to my boyfriend they were good as well! Caution, the chicken comes with chilies for the spice and flavor. Perfect for exactly that but DO NOT EAT THE CHILES unless you're ready to soak your tongue in ice cold water the rest of the night...and yes I personally made this mistake. Live and learn right? BBQ chow neon was good and always a favorite of mine in these dinners. I never would have thought to have BBQ pork combined with the noodles, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved the wontons because it had the most amount of cream cheese goodness than other wontons I've had in the past. You can't forget to have the fortune cookies at the end right? I remember growing up these were so fun to me and the perfect ending to your Chinese dinner. I was told that you break it open, eat one half, read the fortune, and then if you like the fortune then you eat the other half. Did anyone else grow up hearing this or is it just me? read more

In town for the weekend so wifey and I tried this place. Wasn't too busy, place is nice and tidy. Extensive szechuan menu. Started off with cream cheese wontons - crispy and delicious served with sweet & sour sauce, normally what you get. We ordered kung pao and general chicken, white meat. Chicken chow fun(fat noodles), and pork fried rice. Wife ordered hot tea. The food was made to order and was served in no time. The waitress mistakenly brought us chicken chow mein, so we kept it anyway. The kung pao was excellent. Spicy with extra peanuts (wifeys order) and the white meat was 'good' chicken breast. Sometimes at other places, even though it is supposed to be white meat, it is not the best parts of the breast, but this was. The seasoning was excellent. It was hot & fresh and the wife said it was the best she has had. The chicken chow mein was really good as well. Thinner noodles that I didnt think would be as good but it was flavorful and well balanced with the veggies in it. The chow fun had a little too much bean sprouts and the onions were cut a little thick. It was not as well seasoned as the chow mein but a little shoyu did it wonders, it was still good but we've had better. Lastly, the genera chicken is normally dark meat and the waitress warned us that it would taste different than the regular order. The meat was thin skiced pieces of breast, was good meat. But the sauce was too tangy. It would have been better with less sauce because of how strong the tanginess was. With that said, it was still a tasty dish, but by far our least favorite tonight. The service was good and the ambiance was pleasant. The restaurant was a little dated, but not enough to raise a stink. It was some of the better chinese food we have had in a while. Average Americanized Chinese food. What is there to say about it? Not much. Roughly the same as China Pavillion downtown. Not sure if they have anything in common, but several dishes taste exactly alike. Anyway, this is what most Americans think Chinese food is. We don't need to go through the list of pretend Chinese dishes, it's boring. It's average, not bad, not great, some things they do OK, some things not. I live close by, and if you need some food immediately, they are in the neighborhood. But if you have time, there's only one authentic Chinese restaurant in Santa Barbara, and the intitials are "MU." This place is great! The food was very nice and the service was outstanding. The waiter who ever he was,was amazing ! He was fast, efficient and never messed up and order and there were alot of people in that restaurant and he was the only one . The sizzling basil tofu was fantastic, spicy with fresh basil and cooked to perfection. The sautéed green beans were absolutely delicious, they were hot and fresh and juicy , the highlight of the night . It was a great meal all round. Average at best I was excited, they have soup dumplings on the menu! (Shanghai dumplings), there's supposed to be broth plus meat in the dumpling. There was no broth. Although the wrapper was unnecessarily thick & not good, the wrapper was broken on the bottom of all of the dumplings. The only thing that made the dumpling good was the dipping sauce. So don't order these. I also ordered a pork dish, I think pork with Peking sauce, which is basically hoisin sauce. It was average, not bad. I paid extra for it to come with "crepes" instead of rice. They forgot the crepes, which was fine, people make errors. I pointed it out and the young girl at the counter was very nice. But then this older lady came out and almost threw the "crepes", which were basically thinner tortillas at me. "Here". It felt like she was saying, get out! It was weird. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I feel like customer service is so important these days. Il It doesn't take much to just smile at someone and say thanks for coming. My boyfriend and I ate here the other night and it was so good! We were going to get take to go but while we were ordering our food over the phone we decided to dine in instead. When we arrived at the restaurant our table was set and the food was all ready for us. I found this amazing because we didn't have to re-order or even wait for our food! We ordered the orange chicken and the honey walnut prawns. The chicken had great flavor and was not battered, which I really enjoyed because some places over batter and it just feels like you are eating a bunch of fried food. We really liked that the chicken was just whole pieces of chicken instead of battered. The honey walnut prawns had the perfect amount of sweetness and the walnuts had a lovely crispy crunch. Also, both entrees came with a side of steamed white rice which paired nicely with the sauce for the chicken and the glaze of the prawns. I almost forgot to mention that we showed up at 9:00 and the restaurant closed at 9:30. So we really appreciated that the restaurant still seated us and let us dine in. Friendly service with decent food. Potstickers and orange peel chicken are good. The kung pao chicken is average. Friends enjoyed the sweet and sour shrimp and we appreciated that they put the sweet and sour sauce on the side for a take out order. This was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in the Santa Barbara area. We went on Memorial Day and they did not have their usual lunch menu. The service was inattentive, didn't understand us well and was non existent most of the time. Took forever to even get a menu after we safe down and the place had only a few tables full. No one checked to see if we needed anything like more tea or water. FOOD: Soup--hot and sour soup had a strange texture as if they mixed it with egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was watery and lacked the correct consistency and flavor (it had no flavor). The moo shu shrimp came already wrapped which was odd. No plum sauce was put on the pancakes first and the filling was flavorless and dry. There was no sauce whatsoever. Even the pancakes were too thick. They're supposed to be light and airy not thick like a burrito. The only good part was the plump sauce but there wasn't enough of it. The shrimp with lobster sauce was a joke. Tasted nor looked anything like the real dish and they put water chestnuts in it to make it more bland. The mushrooms with bok choy were also not great. No knives were given yet they serves whole pieces of bok choy. Impossible to eat and it tasted like watery garlic. They gave my mom the wrong dish. She ordered sweet and sour pork but they gave her Schezuan pork. They did make her a new one to go once she said something but no one ever came over during our meal to ask if everything was okay so it was late by the time that got sorted. There was no soy sauce, salt, pepper not hot sauce on the table but boy were they needed. Overall it was a disappointment. Wouldn't recommend and won't return. read more

We ordered three items here, the walnut shrimp, Szechuan eggplant, and the beef Hong Kong style noodles(noodles are crunchy egg noodles). The size of the shrimp was big, as far as the portion it was fair. I originally wanted the beef chow fun but they told us they had run out of rice noodles so I got the Hong Kong version. It was good but the portion of the noodle was too small compared to the sauce it came with. My wife did not like the Szechuan eggplants because she said it was too oily and did not have much flavor. I'd come back here for the walnut shrimp and to try their champong(Korean style spicy seafood noodle soup) just to compare it to all the other Chinese restaurants in Santa Barbara who carry champong. read more
