I love this cozy nook. There's a lot of fun options on the menu like boba and banh mi, but we ordered hot soups for the cold winter afternoon. They offered cabbage instead of bean sprouts which was flabbergasting but when we asked for bean sprouts, they brought it to us. The soup was the perfect amount of hot temperature, which wasn't scalding but warmed up my soul. I got the pho beef rib eye. The broth had no depth to it, just tasted like salt. Noodles were on the overcooked side. I ordered a large bowl of the chicken pho, which included fresh toppings such as basil, jalapenos, one lime, cabbage and bean sprouts (upon request). The one thing to be aware if ordering the chicken pho, is that the chicken is cut up into bite sized pieces which sink to the very bottom of the bowl. I was expecting the chicken to at least be larger in size and noticeable. It left me wondering if they accidentally served me a veggie pho, but eventually I came across the small chunks of chicken. I was also hoping for a rich flavorful broth, but that wasn't the case and it seemed to lack seasoning or something. I can't pinpoint what was missing, but I have tried more flavorful pho's from other places. The pho wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best either at a price point of $17.99 for a large. The service was fast and friendly and the restaurant itself is very cute and clean. They also have outdoor seating in the patio area, with heaters provided if dining here at night. This restaurant is a nice little place in the Victoria Court shopping plaza. Close to the parking at Victoria and Chapala - easy in and out. The inside seating is pleasant but small. There is outdoor seating however. Service was good and fairly attentive. The vegan bahn mi were really tasty! Tried the vegetarian pho too, which wasn't too bad. It seems like maybe the pho portions were a bit small. Tried also the egg rolls and also the squash blossom. All that we tried was pretty good. Happy to find this place! read more

I discovered this place 2 years ago when it was still 4 Eggs and Pizza and was so happy to find a hidden gem tucked away with authentic tasting Pho! There's indoor and outdoor seating and it's nested away between some small businesses in Victoria Court. It's typically pretty quiet and good service. We found SB Pho on Yelp and went to the restaurant without the reservation. SB Pho is not on the main State Street. It's inside this little europe style food court, which is very cute. We got our table right away upon arrival. We sat outside since it's not that cold and really enjoyed the environment there. We ordered their PHO with beef ribeye small size ($15.99), which was amazing! The broth was super delicious, which was over my expectations.The beef rebeye was very tender. They use the cabbage to replace the bean sprouts, which I was worried about in the beginning since this is not how traditional PHO does, but it turned out very good. They also don't use MSG in the soup, which is very healthy. We also tried Lavender Chamomile Hot Tea ($5.99/pot), which smelled really good and tasted good as well. It's a good bombination with our PHO. The service was good. We will definitely recommend SB Pho to our friends and will visit again to try some other dishes in the future. read more

Well, the front lady was absolutely superb. She handled everything with efficiency and with a smile, however, the food was far short of authenticity. I had pho. The broth had none of the pho spices flavor. It was just beef broth, very light, a bit oily and bland. I added a lot of hoi sin but condiments are meant to enhance, not be the make-up for the lack. Portion was really small for the price too. Husband had Bahn mi and it was also a small portion with barely any meat inside and again, quite bland. Stopped by on our way back to the bay from San Diego. When we walked in, there was no one to greet us. Then a man came from outside and seemed rushed. No greeting and vibes did not feel friendly and welcoming. We got 2 small bowls for $40. Barely any meat and you only get 1 option. Sides came with cabbage instead of beansprouts. The broth was good, that was about it. We waited family long for 2 simple bowls and for just being the only costumers there. Mid way into our meals it seemed the family of the owners came and were in and out of the kitchen with kids. Again, no friendly greeting or checking in to see how we were doing. Took longer than a normal pho place to come out of the kitchen. It came with none of the traditional pho veggies of Thai basil, bean sprouts, and jalapenos. Hidden inside a quiet courtyard, SB Pho is an unexpected little joint that specializes in pho and Korean-style pizza. I'd heard about this place through a YouTuber I followed and when in SB, I had to give it a try. Originally called "4 Eggs and Pizza," SB Pho unfortunately no longer serves Turkish breakfast eggs and had gotten rid of a lot of their pizza options. We ended up trying their vegan pho and a Korean-style pizza (small). The verdict? The pho was fabulous, with a broth I'd never had before: it was super flavorful and fronted with star anise, which took it over the top. Highly approved! The pizza, while nice and chewy from its sourdough crust, wasn't as good as I'd hoped. It took a while to get it (as it's made to order), and for a small, personal pizza, it was steep at $15. It was one of the nights we stayed at Santa Barbara and craved for something hot during the cold night. We have searched up and SB Pho stands out during our search. It is near the upper of State Street away from the Pier. It was inside a small comlex that felt like a little walking area with Europe. Small street with shops around and arised stone walking steps going up to the higher part of the walkway. It was a small pop and mom shop with nothing fancy but does have its unique decorations. It is the first type of restaurant. Menus are at the counter so it is easy to go through and make the order with the possible husband of the shop. There is only one type of broth and allows you to choose a type of meat or veggie to add in your soup. It does offer 2 different sizes of bowls and many types of Asian drinks. The broth of soup does not contain MSG which was stated throughout the menu and the signs on State Street. We have decided to order the following: - 4x bowls of Ribeye Pho 3 regular and 1 large - Great, This broth is really good and it has no MSG. They have replaced bean spouts with shredded lattes which are still pretty good. The soup comes out super hot which is the perfect way to serve the Pho since we are putting raw ribeyes inside. Ribeyes were super tender after a few seconds submerged into the soup. It is not the largest size meal but you can always add more rice noodle to beef up the bowl. Great soup and taste. - Pot of Lavender Chamomile tea - Great, everyone enjoys the tea. - Taro smoothie - Ok, it was a little sweet for me but with decent taro taste. Overall, we had a really good experience at SB Pho. We sat at a table outside and felt like we were in one of the European streets. It was a really warming meal and will definitely return. read more

I had a really bad hangover and pho always hits the spot and so does this place! I ordered the ribeye pho and some tofu spring rolls. The pho broth was really rich and flavorful. Came in steaming hot like I like it (8/10). The sprinkles were your basic tofu spring roll, but can never go wrong with it. The peanut sauce it came with was nicely presented (9/10). The setting was also a nice environment for a pho restaurant and the food was decent. Everytime I went to 4 eggs & pizza, the restaurant had been mostly empty. I don't know how they afford the downtown SB rent. The restaurant is tucked away behind Arigato and Daisy's and most people walking on State wouldn't know its existence. My daughter, the little pho connoisseur would rank 4 eggs & pizza first place. 1. Four eggs and pizza 2. Noodle city 3. Saigon noodle house 4. Phamous cafe (which used to be better than noodle city, but really declined a lot in the last few years) I hope 4 eggs&pizza continue to exist, actually I wish they move to Goleta.
